I admit I don't like the look of the cooler much either, but it's quieter than my old 4870. Brand wise, the box was fairly spartan. I got a DVI to VGA, Crossfire, and Mini DP to HDMI adaptors (the latter of which will be useful for my Macbook :v:) along with CD of drivers. Temps are far lower than my 4870 at the same fan speed (35 degrees to ~70 degrees at 24% fan speed). Not tried playing a game yet though :v:
Your card is running colder than mine, then. Probably due to my case being smaller than.. well, standard ATX cases. I'll just add, that I've got an XFX.

How much was it? I would have bought another brand but I didn't want to spend too much money
I bought the 6870, no regrets so far. Just get the 6870, it has more features than the 5870.
How much was it? I would have bought another brand but I didn't want to spend too much money
Denmark has much higher prices, but it would convert to around ~170£.
How much was it? I would have bought another brand but I didn't want to spend too much money
£150 with next day shipping ;)
Not true. There is a big difference between 30 and 60 fps. This has nothing directly to do with how many "fps" your brain can process. A game will feel much more responsive at 60fps than 30fps, and you still can see a difference. 30fps is just playable, but that's up to debate as well and varies between people. The 6870 and 5870 can max out bad company 2 fine with something like 8AA and 16AF. My gtx 470 does 32CSAA and gets usually 45-60fps, and dips to 35-40 in intense moments. I'm saying this because I know the 5870 performs better in this game compared to a gtx 470. I also have an AMD Phenom II 965.
Mind you Bad company 2 is more cpu intensive than video card intensive, I've seen someone max BC2 out with a 9600GT (with only 2xAA though) just because he had a really good phenom II quad core.
And what resolution was he running at? 1280x1024?
But OP i know the 6850 is equivelant to the 5830, so i can only assume the 6870 is equivelant to the 5850, making the 5870 better (hence why it's more expensive). I'd look at the technical specs of each though just to make sure. I currently have a 6850 which maxes out everything i through at it (1600x900, DX11, 8xAA, and 16xAF) With the exception of Metro 2033 of course. So a 5870 should do just fine. Fucking automerge. [editline]5th July 2011[/editline]
And what resolution was he running at? 1280x1024?
1900x600 apparently, but i think he mean't 1600x900.
6870 is the better choice because of availability, driver support and crossfire scaling. Since the 5870 is EOL and there are none you can buy new (nor would you want for the price), once you hit the $150 range it's not worth it.
