Hello facepunch. It's the first time i post in this part of the forum, and i would like some advice on how to upgrade my computer, with possibly cheap parts. What i currently have (straight from speccy) : -Video card : 512 MBGeForce 8400 GS (ASUStek Computer Inc) -Ram : 2GB, DDR2 -CPU : Intel Pentium E2160 @ 1.80GHz -Motherboard : MSI 0A90 (Socket 775) -Hard-Drive : 156 GB Western Digital WDC WD1600AAJS-60WAA0 (SATA) -Actual Monitor Resolution : 1440x900 -OS : Windows XP Pro 32bit So far, people told me to get an Nvidia 250GTS and an E6800. Post your opinion! :buddy:
buy 2 ram of 1 GB or one of 2 GB
If you upgrade to an AMD, you'll have to get a new motherboard with the AMD socket. You might also need to get new RAM sticks depending on what the new motherboard uses and if it is compatible with what your current RAM is right now.

Even tought i am going to possibly highen my budget, i don't want to spend all the money on one modification. Thanks for the tip tought :buddy:
It'll cost more than finding a replacement for your pentium on the same socket. We must check whetheryour motherboard is compatible, though.

I'm fairly certain that it'll work, but I will chack some other CPUs, too, if you don't mind. You'll have to upgrade your PSU if this's a pre-built. [editline]24th February 2011[/editline] Where are you buying from?

Also, You before posted about 8800GT and 9800GTX. Those are pretty old, look more at new cards.
Also, You before posted about 8800GT and 9800GTX. Those are pretty old, look more at new cards.
One friend suggested me a 250GTS, he says it's pretty cheap and it is powerful.
You should pretty much upgrade everything. A new hard drive isn't a necessity right now though XFX 4670 $60- (overclocking this baby is a cinch) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150450 AMD Athlon II X3 2.9GHz $70- (Games are becoming more and more CPU dependent, a good CPU is necessary) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103920 Biostar A770E3 ATX Mobo $55- (Cheap, lots of room for upgrades, what more can you ask for?) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138179 CoolMaster 460W $30- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171046 Crucial 2gb x1 DDR3 $30- (had to skimp here, but only 1 stick leaves lots of room for upgrading) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148304 Around $250 total.

Still accepting more suggestions, tough :buddy: Also, is the Athlon X3 dual core? I was reading that it has 3 cores, which seems unusual.
European sites only, judging by the € in the title.
Don't worry, it doesn't really matter, since €>$ if we convert it :buddy: If you are talking about expedition, well, it may cost a bit, but i can fetch the part at the PC shop too i guess on a side note, facepunch can be so helpful :h:
Ehh, European prices can vary very much from American.
So, i guess i'll be going with an E6800 as CPU replacement and a GTS250 as video card. I need to check my power supply tough. Uh ho, just noticed that i have all the ram slots ( 2 ) filled
Give us a European website. I recommend getting a quad core 775 or an AM3 rebuild if you can.
