Good to see the thread active again.
Anyone got any recommendations on how to get XBMC working with a regular gamepad (Logitech F710)? I know it's possible but I never could get it working.

XPadder should work.

It does, but XBMC has support for controllers without using third-party software, which is preferable. I just can't figure out how to get it working. There's a bunch of profiles, including one for an XBox 360 controller (which, software-wise, should behave pretty much the same as all of my games treat them the same), but I must be missing something.
I run XP MCE on an Athlon XP 3000+ and Geforce 6800 ShuttleX system.
I find myself using it more for streaming video and music form my server or online. Minecraft used to run on it but not since the beta.
Might run if you give Optifine a try
If you haven't already, that is.
I use the XBMC app on my iPad to control my HTPC's. I really enjoy the app, really easy to navigate large movie databases.
I've got two identical HTPC's,
ZOTAC D2700ITXS-A-E Intel Atom D2700, NVIDIA ION Mini-ITX board
4GB DDR3
Corsair Nova Series 2 30GB SSD
Bluray Drive
Silverstone HTPC Case
Custom modified IR receiver drilled and taped into the front panel of the case.
They pull their data off my home server I built at the same time, the server is a small Mini-ITX Atom setup with a high quality PSU and 5TB of storage in a generic micro-ATX case housed in my office closet.
I also each computer is controlled by Logitech Harmony One remotes and Apple Bluetooth keyboards when required. Also one is hooked up to my living room 55" Samsung 5 series and the other is setup on my Bedroom 60" Panasonic Viera Plasma both at 1080p. I'm really curious to see how some games perform on the ION builds, I've installed steam on one of the rigs just to see the big picture thing, but I don't really ever plan on gaming with either system, even casual couch gaming.
The official one? Yeah, it's nice. It's not very pretty though

Oh I forgot I used that at first then switched to the Pro version of Constellation (I think that's what it was called, beautiful app)
Does anyone have any way to get Mount and Blade: Warband working fullscreen with DPI scaling on? Some sort of "fullscreen" that is actually borderless windowed that takes up the whole screen? Otherwise I have to make another account or play it windowed on this setup.
Solid thread OP.

I think I've used this before: http://grismar.net/shiftwindow/
One cool thing I found while I had a PC in my living room was Unified Remote. It lets you use your phone or tablet as a keyboard and mouse. It also has built in remotes for things like Netflix and Spotify. It is really handy if you don't have a wireless keyboard and mouse to spare.
I may have to re-lubricate the fan in the graphics card that I bought, though besides that I have everything setup. Steam big picture doesn't work at all on SDTVs, the text in chats are impossible to read and it's locked at 16:9, so you have black borders.
There's probably something wrong with the SVideo to Composite adapter too, since contrasting edges of colours get really fucked up. I'll have to look around and see if I have the materials to build an svideo to composite adapter to see if it's just the GPU that sucks balls at displaying analog TV.
I'll have to see if my dad wants to get a new TV before The Walking Dead starts up again, since there's only so much you can do with this POS TV.
Got a new screen so can finally see from my bed, and looking at getting a wireless keyboard with inbuilt mouse.
Can't decide between this:

And a much smaller thumb board.
Any suggestions?

Logitech K400, it works well enough that I was playing portal with it yesterday.

I'd vouch for the Logitech K400 as well, it's more compact than you think. I don't use it for gaming, but it's excellent for general use.
Just need my dorm workers to raise my loft for me now, so that I actually have room to get out.

Is that a custom Prodigy?
Is that a custom Prodigy?
Yep, PerformancePC make them, but I wouldn't recommend that site to anyone after dealing with them.
I think I'll wait until Nvidia Project Shield is released before building one.
I thinking about something like a Rampage IV Gene with a 3930K, GTX670/660 Ti, 16GB RAM, Intel 520 240GB SSD in a NODE 605 with an H60, Modular PSU BD-RW, DVB-T card and Win 7 pro.

That mini IBM PC of yours could count as a retro loungeroom gaming PC if you can get any games for it.
