New PC!

CPU and the HDDs were taken from workstations that were being thrown out. CPU usually idles around 30C with a Cooler Master TX3, but I'm doing something right now.
Probably going to upgrade my GPU soon. Any suggestions?

I've got 16GB of RAM on the way. My case is the ASRock M8 Z87 prebuilt, which is mini ITX and unfortunately takes laptop RAM, so RAM is pretty expensive. Caught a good deal, though. (And 8GB of RAM isn't all that terrible, if I may be honest.)
Used to have an i3-4370, which I will probably sell.

Using a liquid cooler keeps this CPU ice cold @ 4.5GHz
I'm planning on getting 16 more GB of RAM and another GTX 980 Ti amp extreme to run in SLI next year and maybe upgrading to an i7-5960X later on because this CPU must be bottlenecking some games for me even at 4.5GHz.
I'm getting between 22-50 fps in arma 3 for some reason...

I need to invest in some more RAM, other than that I'm quite happy.
Isn't 32GB a bit overkill though ? only a few things push me over 8GB.

The way I see it, its worth future proofing your ram because who knows what kind of programs or 3d rendering tech computers will be running or how much ram games 5 years from now will use. Some of the most intensive ones I have use around 10 but on top of that I have the system eating up 3 gigs. After I buy some more Ill just leave multiple games running at the same time.
Why not buy that in a few years then? It'll either be cheaper or the sticks available will be faster.

I doubt we're going to see any more performance increases or price drop much for ddr3

....too late.
I found an old Speccy screenshot from my previous PC. Here's them both side-by-side.

Built it a few days ago. Running at 4.6GHz air cooled.

the CPU is not water-cooled in case someone is wondering, but it still amazes me with the low temps
And the GPU fan is running at 0 RPM here, which is also pretty cool.. :v:

Got a new 980 Ti, my old PSU was recalled two years ago I had to buy a new one after it fried my new card.
Hopefully this 1000w platinum will last.

lolollol best processor ever gotta love the slow as fuk ram got the sound blaster cause the asus one didn't have a shield on it and it humed like my mother wile knitting. These harddrives have some serious hours on them
21926 and 22898 for the seagates the others are negligible.
Like 2.6 years on time and this pc is only on when I actually use it.
