No Mac is Closed source.
I'm too much of a faggot to use Linux on my desktop, but I have a Nokia N900 and I just love the attitude of the community. Where closed platforms have a "It's impossible fuck u" attitude, the Linux community has a "Fuck that let's do it ourselves" attitude and coded what needed to be done for overclocking, usb hostmode, 720p video recording.
I know what you mean by feeling that you have to "rig" things to work, but really I find it that you're more doing it manually and for the better, rather then trying to work-around a bad setup. If I didn't enjoy windows games so much I'd totally have started using Linux on my desktop a long time ago.

What are you disagreeing with?
I put Arch Linux in front of everything, one thing is that the memory usage, windows does run excessive services.
Arch at first is just a command line, but I eventually put Xorg on it, and I am using a theme or desktop engine that has looks similar to "Code Lyoko's Interface" and it fits my environment well. Linux is somewhat more flexible and customizable, and free but mostly compatibility issues take place.
I sometimes like to be unique and creative and work around using Arch linux for gaming and semi-development, of course it can be easy if I have the right sources and close expert friends in contact.
