Thanks guys, I'll go mow a lawn or something so I can get the 720.
So basically they can build a Quad Core, then they disable it to make it a Tri core and sell it for less even though making it costed just as much. Doesn't that sound sketchy to you? Also i didn't claim it was a broken core the guy above me did.
You're making yourself look worst please.. for your own sake just stop.

why don't you mow two lawns to get that Core i5 I mean it's better than the i7 920, I think it's worth the price premium (mobos are about the same, DDR3 is pretty much same price as DDR2 now) so in the end you might end up paying 50 bucks more to get significantly more performance

The i5 may be powerful, but the PII 720BE has been known to hit clocks up to 3.8Ghz with relative ease on stock coolers, so it might be more competitive than it looks on the surface. Certainly without HT and the fourth core, however, it WILL be weaker in multithreaded programs, and per clock it is still weaker than the Core i5, but for a total price difference up in the 120 dollar range, is the i5 worth it?

I did the research and ruled out getting the i5. I'm settling with the 550.
