Hitchhikers guidebook
More like... The hitchhikers guide to humanity. [editline]06:20PM[/editline]
Like I said, there is an app that allows you to browse Wikipedia whilst offline, as it downloads the entire database in text.
I'd probably buy this for the entire database.
It's called Encyclopedia, costs $8.99
Also, don't forget the hackable factor of this. The hardware is pretty well documented, so imagine what you could possibly do with a black and white portable device that runs for a longass time on AAA batteries and has a touch screen.
cool

Awesome! Sure you can browse it on your phone or your ipod, but this makes the search faster and the battery life sounds incredible.
I don't know, the convenience of the phone solution more than makes up for the lower battery life and less-than-optimal experience.
Where does the website mention this thing being E-Ink? I looked up E-Ink's website and their products actually look like paper, not calculator screens. I cannot find a specific mention on the WikiReader website. Examples: http://www.eink.com/technology/flexible.html http://www.eink.com/products/customers_co.html
Maybe they should make it similar to the iPod in respects to synchronising with the website. I.e you can plug it into your PC, and if they include an app or something and just refresh data that has changed, similar to how when you connect an iPod it adds the news songs on your playlist. I dunno, i think that might work better than bi-annually.
You can, you plug in the MicroSD card and update it from it's website. It's in lots of languages i think.
Sounds awesome then.
