Google isn't showing much love for CDMA :(
I can barely use 500mb a month let alone my 1GB data cap
He mentioned how having data would offset the internal storage being low, implying the usage of cloud services. I was pointing out that once you pass 5GB which is not difficult to do when streaming something like HD videos, your speeds are crippled beyond belief.
wait does Nexus 4 not have LTE?

Ohh I thought you were talking about how much you manage to use up your data and I was amazed :v:

And they shouldn't. CDMA needs to go away, and people who really want to have whatever phone they want in the states run AT&T.

I've got a 10GB plan for an LTE hotspot and 6GB on my smartphone plan.
LTE is a whole bag of worms. We don't need worms in there.

It's honestly amazing, and the iPhone 5 shows it can be done with very little battery impact. Google didn't put it in because this is a phone that should work everywhere, and LTE has no consistency at all with frequencies.

No. There's been really no info that I can see that Verizon or Sprint would get it. Refer to my original response to see how you can remedy that for this and all future devices.

Sorry, that I won't drop my unlimited plan along to get less LTE coverage in my area so I can get a nexus... or you know Google could release a CDMA version that's compatible with the largest (by users) mobile provider in the US (Verizon) along with Sprint, MetroPCS.

LTE is a GSM technology, which is why Verizon issues sim cards to it's LTE phone.

I'm quite aware, I work for a cell carrier in Canada and I've been using LTE since it first launched here, no need to tell me things I already know. I'm saying if you care, then stop being on a carrier that uses CDMA. Google's Verizon Galaxy Nexus is something I'd imagine they don't want to repeat, and this is not even remotely the first time Verizon hasn't gotten a device because of their network.
Just because CDMA is dying doesn't mean I'm going to hop off Verizon, their network isn't going to disappear, they're evolving their network to GSM through LTE.
Google could simply release a CDMA version that users could buy and activate themselves just like they're doing on the play store removing Verizon entirely.

Haha. You'd have to be lucky to find a Verizon tech willing to add a foreign ESN to their network. Verizon HAS to be involved somehow, and the Galaxy Nexus shows they are very very bad at cooperating unless they're desperate(i.e. getting the iPhone).
I just realized that I blew through over 5GB worth of data on my phone without ever streaming a video. Thank christ I got grandfathered into Verizon's unlimited 4G LTE.
I shit you not, my phone app uses 9gig a month. I've used 17 overall so far this month.
At least mine's all my fault. If I even find something that I might want to try on my computer when I'm away from my dorm I'll just download it onto my phone. Also about 3GB of that data was from ROM downloads that I was trying out.
I try to use WiFi for moving large files. Mine's partially because I'm an app addict. I'm constantly installing and uninstalling apps and launchers and lockscreens...
I hope the Nexus 4 goes on AT&T. I don't have enough money to buy it unlocked, the contract price would really help me out.
My phone went off during a lecture. Shit sucks. Anyone got a preference for a volume scheduling app, if Ice Cream Sandwich can't do that already?
Hey Gary, since you work at Bell here is a question for you:
I a three year term contract with Bell for my S2. I know the phone itself will only accept Bell sim cards (since I haven't ran the unlocker), but is the sim card itself locked to the device or can I pop it out and put it into say a Nexus 4 off the play store?
Because my Nexus 7 has completely ruined my user experience with non-stock Android :(

Depends on what phone you have. The S3 and Motorola phones after the Bionic have native apps for this. Other phones may as well.

Nope you could just put it in any device. There is the possibility of the card itself being locked with a pin code just so someone can't take it and use it themselves, but you would have set that up yourself so you would probably know it, and if not you could either get it off Bell's self serve site or call in.
I'm assuming you're getting the S3 because of its SD slot? I think that's the only feature at all that it holds over the Nexus 4, although it can be a very important one.
Yeah, I have all of my data on my current SD card, without an SD card i wouldn't feel like I'm fully in control I guess
I never really thought of it properly, are the N4 and S3 the same price?

Why is my galaxy s3 saying this

Erm the S3 is $599 and the N4 is $349 for 16GB ones respectively. Plus the N4 has a vastly superior LG AH-IPS panel, updates, better build quality from the looks of it, and much better internals.
Nexus 7 is 210$
So tempting, especially now that I know that 10 inch tablets are way too big

I'm not buying brand new, I usually pop down to CEX here in the UK and get really cheap used phones :v:
[editline]30th October 2012[/editline]
Shiet I've confused myself, part of me wants the S3 because of the physical buttons (I'm not a big fan of the software buttons, at all.) and the SD card slot, but the N4 is cheap and pretty damn nice

Fantastic. Good bye S2 which has been idling at 40°C all day.
Incidentally I just looked at my ipod's clock for the first time in a while, despite connecting to wifi every day, its telling me its 11:25 GMT-8 when it is in fact 6:25 GMT-8. Silly iPod, you've got the wrong time.

That's what I disliked with SGSII, how hot it got. fortunately, Note II doesn't get near that hot.
Does anyone think it'll be worth it to upgrade from my Galaxy Nexus to the Nexus 4 when it's out?
I'm just hoping it'll have better battery time than the GNex.
Yay, I send a tip to Android Police and it gets into an article!

There is no SD slot. And you may want to wait on the battery thing until reviewers have done testing on it.
Until you use up 5GB get throttled to EDGE speeds and streaming any sort of content becomes a nightmare.
The service is better than mobilicity so is the coverage. Apparently they have LTE in downtown Toronto now. My friend with a Nexus St speed tested recently and got 7Mbps down in downtown Toronto. Not bad. Went to mid town and got 4Mbps while on a bus. Still getting around 1.5Mbps at school though. Although Moblicity doesn't have a cap where they throttle you. I could go for that.
9000mAh battery on the N10... double that of the N7.
That sure is impressive, although its probably because the hardware is significantly more powerful.
