people need to move over to spotify
people need to move over to spotify
Hell no.
people need to move over to spotify
They could use Google Music too, but the main problem is that many people don't have service where they want to listen to music. I know I have that problem and I bought an SD card specifically so I could store my music. You either have to take your music with you, or have it on the cloud, and taking it with you isn't an option for the Nexus phones unless you don't have a lot of music or get USB storage for it.
do you seriously have 13GB of music? how much of it do you actually listen to
Like a gig of it but what if i need those other 12GB at some point?
people need to move over to spotify
Yeah I wanna pay £10 a month for meh quality songs that I can only listen to when I have 3G which is never because I live in the Scottish Highlands.
security?
nobody cares about your photos, and if they did, i'm sure they have a person that can punch you in the face and take the sd card
You're assuming I wouldn't jump them first for looking funny at me.
Man, google are dumb as fuck for making the Nexus 4 have a max capacity of 16GB. I have 13GB in music alone, how the hell am I supposed to cope with 3GB for everything else?
If they offered a 32GB option I would buy it in a heartbeat. Shame.
Do you ever actually listen to all 13GB in between charges? Or in between being connected to wi fi where you can listen to all your music over google music?

i need my 999 kb/s FLACs for ultimate listening experience *snort*
[editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
and really? wifi and modem garbling up power? thats not a problem when you download your list to your phone, which really dont take that much space
download your songs at home, bring it with you
spotify is great for finding songs too
[editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
and the music quality isnt bad at all?
i need my 999 kb/s FLACs for ultimate listening experience *snort*
320kbps MP3s.
honestly 320kbps mp3 is fine for me, hell I can go lower if needed
if I wanted REALLY FUCKING GOOD QUALITY music I'd listen to it at home
I could happily keep most of the music I like to listen to in 16GB of space
It's just that listening to music is, by far, what I used my 16GB iPhone for most and I was constantly having to delete apps and old music to make room. I need 32GB.
320kbps MP3s.
are you suggesting thats bad?
[editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
or is that what you use
are you suggesting thats bad?
No I'm saying that's what I use. Fuck FLAC.
ah, alright
spotify uses 320 kpbs .ogg files when streamed with high quality
dunno how ogg files are thou, but im pretty sure they are smaller in size
I don't really care what quality the music I'm listening to is on my phone because chances are I'm walking somewhere surrounded by traffic and distractions, save the FLAC for audiophiles and when I'm home and actually care
I know it's not the easiest solution, but I have a Subsonic server which I can either stream music from or download them for listening to later. Best of both worlds.
What quality does Spotify stream in?
We use the Ogg Vorbis format for streaming. There are three quality ratings that we use:
q3 (~96 kbps)
q5 (~160 kbps)
q9 (~320 kbps)
Mobile: A higher quality q5 is offered, along with a “low bandwidth” option of q3. You can choose separate qualities ratings for streaming and syncing in the More tab of your Spotify mobile app.
So it's somewhere between 160 and 320.

Google music launches in the UK this month apparently, so you'll be able to store 20,000 songs on their servers and stream them.
Would be neat if you could download playlists, then like it automatically swaps the downloaded songs so you have something new to listen to on the next days commute.
