It's also likely forever stuck on Android 4.0.4. Stay the fuck away from LG unless it's a Nexus, that would be my recommendation.
Well the Nexus 4 uses the exact same internals so all LG has to do is put their stuff into it when Google releases a new N4 ROM.
I still wouldn't count on them to do that.
HSPA+ is equivalent to 4G speeds, or is getting there.
Not really. 4G is 1Gbit downstream, any carrier that markets otherwise is lying. Even if you pretend LTE is 4G, it's still considerably better than DC-HSPA running at 84Mbps because the latency is much lower. Not that it matters since pretty much the best you get right now for HSPA is DC-HSPA running at 42Mbps. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
I'm sold. The Gnex looks so outdated and bland in that side-by-side picture with the N4. By the way, what's the difference between HSPA+ and LTE? Does that mean I won't be able to get the 4G connection in cities like I do with my Gnex?
Are you on Verizon in the United states? If you're not then you're not even getting Faux-G, you're on 21Mbps HSPA+. If you are on Verizon in the states, you're probably not getting the Nexus 4 at all.
we have true 4g here
we have true 4g here
Well? Let's see that gigabit speedtest then
we have true 4g here
Can you cite that? From what I understand it's only available in Moscow Russia on the Yota 4G network.
Well? Let's see that gigabit speedtest then
i dont have 4g
inb4 flac on phones
Already during mate.
People saying you won't listen to 16 GB at a time are missing the point. It's about having exactly what you're in the mood to listen to at any moment. Why shouldn't I have access to every song I own at any time? If the cloud is so great, why not make devices with no storage at all and stream the entire firmware off the cloud? Phones will just be terminals to a giant mainframe! It'll be the 70s again and IBM will finally have a market again for all those AS/400s.
I'd be a MIPS wannabe and lug one of those fella's around along with a diesel generator.
Can you cite that? From what I understand it's only available in Moscow Russia on the Yota 4G network.
i dunno, i think we do... pretty sure atleast fuck now im unsure
Can you cite that? From what I understand it's only available in Moscow Russia on the Yota 4G network.
What? Russia has legit 4G? (source plz)

okay i was wrong
LG Optimus G?
Not out in the UK until next year.
Not out in the UK until next year.
Get a Nexus 4 and use the USB OTG to carry round a external laptop hard drive round with you! Best idea evah~~
I'm just wondering. If the Nexus 4 is built off the Optimus G won't there be a plethora of ROM ports to it whenever the N4 gets an update? The only issue I see is that right now the Optimus G is listed at like $650 here when the N4 will be $359 for the 16GB. Must be quite a high quality SD slot.
Or a much, much higher profit margin
Android phones aren't going to have profit margins anymore if Google keeps this up. The value of every Android phone is gunna drop rapidly once the N4 launches, since nobody is going to pay >$350 for a used device worse than the N4.
Get a Nexus 4 and use the USB OTG to carry round a external laptop hard drive round with you! Best idea evah~~
Can it even power the hdd? Oh well, you could always jury rig the cable between the phone and the external hdd, so the HDD receives power from one of those battery packs meant for charging smartphones on-the-go. They're about the size of a 2,5" hdd anyway. [sp]You were probably joking, but I don't give a damn[/sp]
Android phones aren't going to have profit margins anymore if Google keeps this up. If Google continues to release phones at <$400, will the downward price pressure take away the extra profit carriers see from Android devices over iPhones?

Nonetheless, those people are complete idiots and I like where this pricing is going. I don't know how much but if the pricing actually goes down, I see carriers pushing Blackberry's just for profit but probably not.
Can it even power the hdd?
I have a SATA - USB kable and a spare 300GB laptop HDD. When I connect my HDD to my phone the little blue power LED lits up!
Hey guys I want an android phone, but I don't know any good ones because I've never had one. Can you guys help me out with this? I think the highest I'm willing to go is around 250$

It doesn't matter because the profit made on the contract makes it worth while. No carrier wants to end up like T-Mobile USA.
I have a SATA - USB kable and a spare 300GB laptop HDD. I just realised, I'm out on exercise when the Nexus 4 is available for sale :( I've probably gotta struggle trying to buy in on a GPRS connection :v:

So I guess so, I could hear the platters spin.

[editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
But does it deliver enough juice to power the hdd in order to actually access data on it?
Yes but it would be really slow, and your battery would die, like really fast.
Wow, is it really that bad? Damn.
They buy the phones full-price. The only profit they get is from contracts and fees.
