I feel so bad for HTC. The one time they move away from Qualcomm was when Qualcomm smashed open the mobile CPU market and had the best efficiency-performance ratio. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] Also uh, it's great that the Adreno 320 and Mali T604 match the SGX543MP4 in the A5X. The issue is that that chip is now eight months old and has been retired for one twice as fast. I guess with Apple trying to really push into the mobile gaming market they're putting more into having the best GPU chips. I remember back with the iPhone 4 their SGX535 was really showing its age compared to the SGX540 in the i9000. I wouldn't really be concerned but seeing the Nexus 10 browser scroll down the page after the finger left the screen was very concerning. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] Or hey, maybe the Nexus 10 just needs a software patch. We'll find out when people start buying it I guess.
I think the software patch is known as flashing the AOSP browser instead of fucking Chrome, of all things.
I think the software patch is known as flashing the AOSP browser instead of fucking Chrome, of all things.
Even Chrome for iOS is bad, and it's literally just a Safari wrapper. And no it's not because it can't access Nitro, I've made it use Nitro with Nitrous from Cydia and it still stutters with fast scrolling or zooming.
Nevermind, I got it. Woohoo for custom Nexus 7 ROM's!!!
The Nexus 4 in theory is much better both with internal specs and with the screen. However the Nexus 4 is apparently not too durable and like you said has no SD slot. Benchmarks haven't painted a pretty picture either.
Yes the guy from The Verge dropped his test device off the kitchen table and as glass obviously tends to break, have a small crack near the camera. You can see that in their video review.

Like I've dropped my phones so many times, and after a lot of abuse my i9000 and i9100 have shattered screens, but most of the time they'd land on their back and be fine.

So far the stock is the fastest and Chrome has the features I like but don't really need such as tab syncing. But it's so much more useful. I'll just not open a million tabs and do a bunch of other stuff.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6425/google-nexus-4-and-nexus-10-review/2 Looks like the Adreno 320 isn't quite a match for the now antiquated A5X SGX543MP4 after all, it's closer to the SGX543MP2. The Mali T604 also has quite a gap between it and the A5X. Sounds like it might explain the slowdowns on the N10.
I also love how apologist /r/android is for any flaws of the Nexus 4. It's terrible for the iP4S to only have HSPA+, but for the Nexus 4 it's a necessary compromise. It's not okay for the One X/Padfone2/Optimus G to have nonexpandable 32 GB storage, but it is okay for the Nexus 4 to have nonexpandable 16GB. It's okay for the Nexus to have a nonremovable battery, but not for the One X/Optimus G, etc...
/r/android is a horrible place

Hmmm, I'm having a hard time deciding between getting the Nexus 4 or the SG3.
Hmmm, I'm having a hard time deciding between getting the Nexus 4 or the SG3.
Looking at all the reviews coming in on the nexus 4 it's looking like the Galaxy S3 LTE is going to be the best bet.
Any solid evidence? my friend basically keeps texting me calling me an idiot for not buying the nexus 4 and claiming it's the saviour of the human race, and I should feel bad for wanting an S3
The thing that really attracts me to the Nexus 4 is the price. Its dirt cheap for an unlocked phone..Its literally half the price of most other unsubsidized smartphones out there..Hell, SIIs still go for $500 don't they? Plus the bootloader is unlocked which is nice for people like me who love to tinker (and/or install CM) The non-removable battery is kind of dumb though.
Any solid evidence? my friend basically keeps texting me calling me an idiot for not buying the nexus 4 and claiming it's the saviour of the human race, and I should feel bad for wanting an S3
Well, the S3 with CM10 (and CM10.1? Maybe?) will be amazing. I'm currently running CM10 on my S3 and I have only a little jealousy of those who'll grab a Nexus. I'll probably grab a Nexus just to play around with, then pass it down to my brother though.
I am starting to get worried about the Nexus 4. The 1080p example that was posted before was really bad at sound recording. And reviewers already cracking their back glass. I'll keep my head up for now and wait for more reviews :frown: [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] I have a Samsung Nexus S, really love it. But Single Core and 512MB ram is just not good enough for me anymore :v:
Fuck LG, wait for the next nexus. That's my word of advice.
I love how Samsung only gets S3 4.1 out like a month before 4.2 is released. Another 6 months for 4.2 on the S3? (add another 6 months if you are on verizon) [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] My Nexus S is is buttery smooth... With the CPU running at 1440Mhz. If I get any spare cash my way, I'll definitely be looking into buying the N4.
Yah and the S2 still doesn't have 4.1 at all.
I'm sure we're all power users here. It's easy to throw on something else.
Yah and how about all those users who don't flash ROMs(the vast majority of Android users). Are they to be blamed for expecting updates on an Android phone, or should Samsung be blamed for slow software support?
so my android wasn't loading the camera today I had to reboot because of that I never got to record drunk lesbian dancing see this is why im mad android: ruining everything since 2010
Have a fugly theme: Why the hell do people think these look good?!
I was referring to the users on this forum.
OK I understood that. I'm saying that doesn't address the issue that with non Nexus devices the best is still horrible when it comes to software support.
Reddit is a horrible place
face punch is worse than reddit
OK I understood that. I'm saying that doesn't address the issue that with non Nexus devices the best is still horrible when it comes to software support.
Fair enough. It's a shame every time I hear someone talk about their S3 being a piece of shit, when ICS was, indeed, a piece of shit on the phone. Jelly Bean honestly irons out all the problems Touchwiz had; it's a shame nobody is going to get it soon enough for them to absolutely despise their phone.
Anyone know how to get app labels on my desktop with my Nexus 7/Apex Launcher? Even the default doesn't have it. I'm on the CM10 Kang with tablet UI.
My Nexus S is is buttery smooth... With the CPU running at 1440Mhz. If I get any spare cash my way, I'll definitely be looking into buying the N4.
Which model, rom and kernel?
Is there a 32GB N4 yet?
Is there a 32GB N4 yet?
There isn't even a Nexus 4 on the market yet so no. There's no guarantee of a 32GB one ever existing either. Nexus devices are first and foremost developer phones, and developers aren't making apps 16GB< in size.
Nexus devices are first and foremost developer phones
No they're not.
