I think that handyCalc is more powerful and flexible than RealCalc. Also, check out Dropbox if you use it, Pocket (Formerly Read it Later, exactly what it says on the tin,) AirDroid (Allows you to remotely access your phone's storage over WiFi, and SleepTime alarm clock.(Uses phone sensors to detect when you're sleeping lightest and wakes you up during that time.)
I just discovered Pocket, and it's amazing. I actually found the Chrome extension first, and then saw that there was an Android app too. I pocket things in Chrome (so I don't have a shit load of unread tabs) and then read them on my phone when I have no internet. It can download articles for reading offline, and if there's any links in those articles, you can add them to your queue. EDIT: Oh and I definitely agree with the recommendation for AirDroid too. EDIT: Some of my own suggestions: Astrid Tasks (to-do list) A+ Timetable (very useful if you're in college; not the most polished app but it does the job) Chant, if you like 4Chan Dolphin Browser, if you don't like Chrome for some reason Poweramp or Winamp for music Prey, to remote control and track your phone if it gets lost or stolen
I use the Imo.im client to chat via Steam and Skype on my phone due to limited space. Who at HTC thought that it would be a good idea to equip the Desire with only 100MB for applications... (Despite a custom partition layout increasing this to 150MB, it's still too small.)
Droid Razr M or the Galaxy Nexus? on Verizon. Trying to keep it cheap, I have a rebate card that I am trying to take advantage of.

Speaking of steam you can add me, the names the same and I don't have any friends...
Certainly nexus
Any particular reason why? Earlier in the thread people were saying something about the Verizon Nexus not getting updates? Also I'm not talking about the Razr Max, they just came out with a new phone called the Razr M.

But it took em six months to go from 4.0.1 to 4.0.4.
I think you'll find any operator that customises firmware with their extra [del]features[/del] bullshit take ages to push out updates. Especially back a few years, you've got Vodafone who took a shit on any decent interface design: White, Black, Red and Cyan. What a nice combination of colours... (Never understood why operators felt the need to do this)

JB has just gotten to VZ Nexus, while the M has a nebulous promise of later this year. The m also has a pretty crappy screen in comparison. The Verge has Good reviews of both, just skip to the end for the wrap up for a good summation of both: Razr M Nexus

The Verge is NOT a valid source for any info regarding screens on any device. How do I know this?
The M’s display is a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED unit with qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. Though this is the same resolution (and lousy PenTile subpixel layout)
No color, gamma, temperature charts. Just senseless bitching about something Motorola has no control over and frankly that doesn't matter. If you wanna get technical, all of Samsung's OLED panels are objectively bad, but people keeping buying them so it's pretty clear people don't really care about an accurate screen. Because of this, I'm not sure why they would care that fonts are rendered at THE SAME RESOLUTION with a different pattern than they're used to. It also causes green color shift but again nobody buying these phones cares about color accuracy. Yes the M has a worse screen, but it's not "pretty crappy" in comparison, it's the same panel attributes with about 50ppi lower pixel density. [editline]22nd September 2012[/editline] Oh and it's not even Motorola's fault. Let me ask everyone. Has anyone seen a 720p OLED phone not made by Samsung? I haven't. So it really leads me to believe that Samsung won't sell anybody those panels because they need them all for their devices. [editline]22nd September 2012[/editline] Oh and I'm not disagreeing with you by the way about which one they should get. Get the Nexus. I'm just pointing out that The Verge is written by people with very moderate tech knowledge, and it doesn't extend to any specifics the way people from say...Anandtech know technology.
Ah, that sucks. There was probably no hope, with the sugar and electrolytes. But I'm looking more for stories of people who were initially successful in using the rice method, and whether there were any long-term defects that showed later.
Best solution is to remove the battery, drown the phone in deionized water, put the device with covers off in a sealed chamber with desiccant packets.

Motorola, despite their supposed turnaround with their new UI, has a horrible track record with updates.
Screen and updates. Motorola, despite their supposed turnaround with their new UI, has a horrible track record with updates.
Someone posted on Droid Forums that Verizon is actually the one holding back updates, EOLing devices even though Motorola was still developing updates, and forcing bootloaders to stay locked even though Motorola has the solution to unlock them.

is that the s3? I dislike that Samsung hasn't moved away from gingerbread
is that the s3? I dislike that Samsung hasn't moved away from gingerbread
It's just because Facebook is horribly made.
oh
The funny part is that one of the Facebook for Android devs said on reddit a few months ago that they see no reason to follow the guidelines as the majority of phones are still on Gingerbread. If everyone followed that logic we would probably still use horse-towed carriages for daily transport. [editline]22nd September 2012[/editline] Also, are the orange-colored resources still in Android 4.0/4.1 itself? Or is it mostly the apps that have the resources inside their own apk?
wow, samsung raped the poor status bar
wow, samsung raped the poor status bar
But I like it :( And as usual Facebook's app is horrible.

I'm thinking of creating a networked drive for my Nexus 7 when it arrives. Anyone know a good way to access it? I know of ES File Explorer as I have used it on my phone but it isn't very convenient.

Why should devs be punished by having to make a version that follows guidelines for ICS and another for GB? It's not worth the time, especially with how hard making money is on Android. That's a lot of work just so like one tenth of the platform can be happier.

So, I'm planning to buy an Android phone, and I've found Xperia Play for around 100 Euros... I mostly want to play emulated games on it, should I go for it?
