WiFi on the Desire HD is great except for the shitty reception that it has. Battery life is actually not as bad as some people make it out to be, I get like 3 hours or so of display time before I have to stop using it and just let it go on standby. I really hope next year I'll be able to get a device I'd be happy with. On AT&T, the Optimus G sounds like a pile of crap with a locked bootloader, the One X+ is iffy, the One X is okay but outdated with not enough storage for my use, the GS3's SoC is old and I dislike the UI/display (no I don't like AOSP stahp it), and the Note II is way too big for my tastes.

My WiFi is A+ when it's connected, it like disconnects randomly off my WiFi and always takes the worst router at my school when I'm right beside one.

Disabling mobile network is okay but really the worst case scenario just kick down to GPRS/EDGE if you know that it'll be on idle for a long time.
