Better late than never http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/11/06/happy-fifth-birthday-android-an-exploration-of-androids-five-year-journey-to-the-top/ It gives everyone a good history lesson on Android
Hey, where will I need to go to grab the APK for a Live Wallpaper? I'm digging through the files and I have no idea. Is it in the root files? If so, how do I access them from my computer? I'm trying to jerry-rig Shadow Galaxy onto my Desktop using Dreamscape.
lol fido get ur shit together
Well, at least they finally introduced a $40 plan that includes call display, voicemail, and 250 MB data. I used to have to pay $50 for those features + 100 MB data.
Oh hey guys, if any of you have some time and have the Google Drive app, quickly open a document or make a new one, rotate your phone to landscape (and turn on screen rotation if you have it off) type some stuff, spam enter to make new lines and scroll. If you are getting a vibration every time to scroll, report it to me or something.
OK, I can't get this .APK off my phone. I've copied it to the SD card with root explorer, fucked with the files. Anyone know how to get a fucking APK from the phone? This is steaming my ass right now.

Also, why the fuck is Titanium backing up to internal storage?! [editline]6th November 2012[/editline] That's what I'm headed to do. Thanks :) [editline]6th November 2012[/editline] Nevermind. Fucking hidden files.
So, I'm clearing some missions on Borderlands, then... Go ahead. Scan it.
Who's that?
Nick Wilson - OH HO?

Heyoo! ?

dads phone broke. Touchscreen doesnt work. He needs data from it, contacts etc. If I cant use the touchscreen but the phone works, what could I do? The phone is not rooted.
dads phone broke. Touchscreen doesnt work. He needs data from it, contacts etc. If I cant use the touchscreen but the phone works, what could I do? The phone is not rooted.
What kind of phone? You'll probably have to flash CWM and do a Nandroid backup. If I recall correctly, an ADB backup needs confirmation through the touchscreen, but CWM just uses volume keys and power key.
dads phone broke. Touchscreen doesnt work. He needs data from it, contacts etc. If I cant use the touchscreen but the phone works, what could I do? The phone is not rooted.
USB mouse?
USB mouse?
Yeah, this is infinitely simpler than my solution if it supports OTG
dads phone broke. Touchscreen doesnt work. He needs data from it, contacts etc. If I cant use the touchscreen but the phone works, what could I do? The phone is not rooted.
ADB? I don't know.
You can't use ADB to pull system data (like contacts) unless you're either rooted, or you use "adb backup" which requires confirmation on the touchscreen.
So Anandtech apparently ran benchmarks on the N4 again, this time with much better results: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/12rk7s/anandtech_have_run_new_nexus_4_benchmarks_which/ Possibly a software update that improved the phones performance? I just hope the same can be done with the camera, because video (and audio) still sucks.
benchmarks don't mean shit on android phones
I just posted it because a few pages ago in here there were some mentions that benchmark-wise the phone was underperforming (and had some performance issues in the UI itself) compared to it's non-Nexus brother, the Optimus G.
benchmarks don't mean shit on android phones
depends what benchmark; and it's always good to have an easily readable metric of the performance of android phones considering how sluggish the OS is compared to other platforms
Well in my opinion the reason benchmarks don't mean anything on Android is because WP7 devices with hardware that would bench like 10% or less of the performance of the latest Snapdragon S4 Pro still run better because the OS is so efficient. It's a measure of performance that is irrelevant to how well the phone runs.
My dad's girlfriend got some LTE Sony Xperia phone and it's such a mess. The capacitive buttons were slow to respond sometimes and the contacts are really inconsistent. She added a picture for example on one contact, though it wouldn't show up in the messaging app.
