From what I've seen the S3 is better at video but the One X is better at stills.
Might be because of the CPU allowing for higher bitrate video on the S3. Also, anyone wanna help me here? I flashed my i9000 back to Froyo 2.2(gunna need it as a media phone for a long trip since my others are gunna die on the way) and I know for a fact it's not near as smooth as it was when I bought it, same with any Samsung ROM whether it be Froyo or Gingerbread. Does anyone know why it'd be happening? It's the same firmware the phone came with. The only thing I can honestly think of is that with my thousands(possibly tens of thousands) of flashes I've worn out the NAND and it's slow to access anything.
Might be because of the CPU allowing for higher bitrate video on the S3.
They both have a quad core processor. The One X has 0.1GHz more juice to be specific.
They both have a quad core processor. The One X has 0.1GHz more juice to be specific.
Wow and Intel's Ivy Bridge quad core i5 at 2.8GHz will outperform a 5.6GHz AMD quad core. Best analogy I can throw up. The Tegra 3 has limitations in memory bandwidth and I'm pretty sure it has less cache than the Exynos 4412. The Exynos has proven itself to be faster, and although some of that is software, it's hardware too. They're both quad core A9s, but not all A9 cores are equal and this is especially true when Nvidia is in the arena. Go look up "Tegra 2 NEON" and you'll see what I mean.
So expanding upon the earlier idea, could I take the rom, rename it "update" and then restore my phone to it from recovery mode, without rooting? Or is this the most ridiculous suggestion you've ever heard and I need to go and sit on the naughty step

Could be wrong though, so there's no harm in trying. Worst case scenario is it yells at you about it not being signed.

But that was with older android phones.
can't figure out how to reply to people on the FP app, but @Kaabii I was poking around for a few minutes before I went to bed and some videos mentioned changing the recovery menu with some other third part software, I know that is the most vague description ever, but the video in question was done on a moto droid without root [editline]12th November 2012[/editline] Was called SPrecovery if I remember [editline]12th November 2012[/editline] Hell might as well try stick Cyanogenmod on it, it's freshly repaired and restored so I'm not losing anything Would there be a way to back up my current "recovery" file so I can always go back if it fucks up?
Shit, I think I've just found the guide I used back when I rooted my Desire Z http://theunlockr.com/2010/11/15/universal-android-rooting-method-visionary-method/
Shit, I think I've just found the guide I used back when I rooted my Desire Z http://theunlockr.com/2010/11/15/universal-android-rooting-method-visionary-method/
I tried visionary when I first got my phone, I couldn't get it to work properly, and then on the final attempt it seemed to underclock the phone or something because it was impossibly laggy, so I had to "unroot" it :v: (turns out I was an idiot running GB and didn't realize I was supposed to have Froyo, but hey) [editline]12th November 2012[/editline] I am like the worst person at rooting [editline]12th November 2012[/editline] Got a lil' error when I tried CM renamed as "update.zip" Ah well worth a shot, Gingerbread isn't that bad I'll survive till christmas, it was an idea :v:
I'll let Engadget sum it up. I disagree with the viewing angles part, but it might be that I thought they were worse than they are because the color is so awful I wanted to tell myself it was just the angle it was at.
I see. Thanks for all the help. I'm not gonna bother with PLAY then, waste of my nerves, money and time.
I see. Thanks for all the help. I'm not gonna bother with PLAY then, waste of my nerves, money and time.
If you really want to game, I know people here won't like me saying it but an iDevice is better. They get more attention of game developers and they have the best graphics hardware, along with faster response times for touch input. Or ever BETTER than that would be a device actually designed for running games. I'm not sure how well the 3DS and Vita are in terms of software support but they're meant for playing games first and foremost.
From what I've seen the S3 is better at video but the One X is better at stills.[/QUOT] Go onto GSMArena and go to their video quality comparison Web app. You can check out the quality under 3 conditions of up to 3 devices. From what I've seen, the S3 has better video camcorder recoding quality than the One X. It has more dymanic range and less eye bleeding contrast than the One X. If I was to film stuff with phones, I would choose the S3. For photography, I've seen some really amazing photos from both phones. I've yet to see comparisons of both.
Hey guess what's out in some parts of Europe now (UK for me) https://play.google.com/music/ finally

Right now Order and Chaos Online and Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation are one large update behind for Android compared to iOS. Proper cross platform games that run on the Unity Engine is a different thing. The only exception is Tegra and Android exclusives. Either way, in general gaming is better on iOS right now. But Android is catching up.
Android will never catch up because all the chipmakers refuse to buy GPUs from the best mobile GPU company all because Apple and Intel have stakes in it. Anything on an Android device is woeful compared to the SGX544MP4.
Hey guess what's out in some parts of Europe now (UK for me) https://play.google.com/music/ finally
Time to sort out my trainwreck of a music library.
The Google Music App also got updated today.
Actually, they've developed a protective film that you can spray onto the electronic parts of your phone to make it them hydrophobic. The name escapes me right now, but I'll see if I can find it. [editline]12th November 2012[/editline] Hmmm, there was a much earlier video which was a lot more informative...
Didn't Liquipel recently get sued for being false advertising and completely ineffective or something? I remember reading about it in the papers last week saying it was shit
Since I am still running this radio from v2.3.4 should I flash my Radio to the newer one for ICS since im running ICS? I guess it would explain my shitty service that im experiencing now [editline]12th November 2012[/editline] .. im on .0312 Radio and the ICS one is .0320
The Google Music App also got updated today.
With gapless playback fucking finally
With gapless playback fucking finally
Now I can listen to "The Wall" in the correct manner.
Now only if Google Music will release an API do I can use PowerAMP with it.
Getting a phone, any fundamental apps I should get? HTC One if that matters.
Getting a phone, any fundamental apps I should get? HTC One if that matters.
Google Goggles is pretty damn helpful. If you want your phone to have that Holo UI, you'll want to spend the 99 cents and buy the Holo Light skin from Virtuous ROM.
Getting a phone, any fundamental apps I should get? HTC One if that matters.
AirDroid, for managing files and stuff over WiFi Evernote if you want a note app that automatically syncs to cloud and PC (you just need to register for a free account)
I'm thinking about selling my Galaxy s3 and buying a nexus 4. I have grandfathered unlimited data still and wondering if I'll really miss the LTE. But having a true android phone would be great. Not to mention it looks a lot better than the s3 IMO. I dunno. Anyone else thinking about this?

No clue, because it comes down to what carriers you can use.
Well that sucks, the nexus 4 and 10 sold out in the Australian Play Store within 20 minutes. I want my shit damn it!
I don't live in the US :( [editline]13th November 2012[/editline] Why does it say this though, I thought it was released in the UK?
What are the compatibility requirements for GTA3? Does it need a certain graphics chip or have they only whitelisted it for devices they've tested it on?
