Heh. I thought updates were automatic. Turns out they were not. I was on 2.5.2 or something like that when my friend told me to update. 250 megabytes later I'm on 4.0.x
What are the compatibility requirements for GTA3? Does it need a certain graphics chip or have they only whitelisted it for devices they've tested it on?
All apps should have a black/white list depending on how you look at it. It will tell you if your devices is incompatible.
Oh god... The updates keep coming, they never stop... What did I do to deserve this?! WHY?!
What a bitch, Google that slut. I was literally paying through the Payment window
Could someone tell me the most significant changes between Android 2.5 to 4.0.4? I have no idea where to start.

So close!
changes between Android 2.5 to 4.0.4?
What kind of parallel universe are you living in? I've never heard of 2.5
So close!
I literally hate my bank right now. Went through all this shit about 5 times, finally got it to work and they block it for some anti-fraud crap, by the time they sort it out it's sold out. SO ANGRY!!!
Missed out, CPW probably aren't selling them sim free and don't have any stock at all until tomorrow. PISS
Australia sold out in 22 minutes. Heard UK sold out of N4 in 6 minutes. Is there literally 7 phones for the whole world?
Just curious but has anyone noticed that the sound output from an S3 is really good? It really blows the socks off the onboard sound on my computer.
Just curious but has anyone noticed that the sound output from an S3 is really good? It really blows the socks off the onboard sound on my computer.
Well yeah, it uses a Wolfson DAC and Wolfson are well known in the sound world.
Is there an index for checking what sound chip phones use or is that kind of information not normally listed?
Is there an index for checking what sound chip phones use or is that kind of information not normally listed?
Check if ifixit has done a teardown on the device. They liss all ic's in the devices.
I've been doing some more Googlings, and looks like the Optimus G gets 4.1 in December, which is when I'd be getting the phone anyway, so yay! I don't really expect it to get 4.2 real soon, because if I'm not mistaken, the only devices with 4.2 are Nexus phones/devices (right?). Unless a better phone comes out, or you guys can point out some REALLY convincing reasons to not get the Optimus G (other than "It's not a nexus", cause unfortunately Sprint is being a bitch about it), it looks like the G is a winner.
If the N4/10 sold out so fast it's probably because they either were selling like hot cakes and ran out or the guy who was managing stock is stupid.

I don't think that phone got a single update.
Well yeah, it's got less than 512 MB RAM. At least they said they might look into updating 2011 devices with more RAM, which hopefully includes the Raider (October 2011, 1 GB RAM)

That's no excuse. Any device that runs ICS can run Jellybean. The phone already runs sub par, even by Android standard. Hell it runs sub par even by HTC standards. There's no way Jellybean would have affected the "user experience" negatively.
Good question. No clue, because it comes down to what carriers you can use.
I'm in the US on at&t if that helps.

And HTC sense 4.0-4+ is pretty heavy to run, it would lag and that will affect the user experience. ^Said on HTC Elevate. [editline]13th November 2012[/editline]
I'm in the US on at&t if that helps.
Wait till the updates to be finished and all clear basically when its known the S3 has jellybean, people would bid higher than when it has ICS.

It already lags, every HTC device lags, every Android device lags. Most consumers really don't care or don't notice it. Any device currently running ICS can run Jellybean, and going from Sense 4.0 to 4.1 should increase performance if 4.1 is the better optimized one. Can you honestly cite where this has happened in the past? I've never seen this occur.
and that's why i got a windows phone
I'm running ICS but Sony is like screw you, not Jelly Bean!
It's hard for Android OEMs. Pushing updates out for old phones that they won't make any more money from costs them money, and it's not like they're making any in general. It's different with Apple where even the guy on the 3GS can still bring in money through buying apps from Apple's App Store, so almost any capable device will get updates. This financial problem is why I think HTC is pushing more for WP8. It's a platform where they won't have to pay Apple royalties, and hopefully they'll actually make some money off of it because users won't be turned off by lack of updates and sluggish bloatware.
I'm running ICS but Sony is like screw you, not Jelly Bean!
Well, your phone is basically discontinued, so they really have no motivation to update it. I don't understand about the One V though.
Well, your phone is basically discontinued, so they really have no motivation to update it. I don't understand about the One V though.
Me neither. Buyer beware I guess. When you buy an Android device that isn't a Nexus don't feel entitled to updates, just feel lucky if you do get them.
All Android phones can run the most recent version, it'll just run more and more terribly the older the phone is. Nexus One even runs Jelly Bean, just really really badly. :v:
Well, at least the S3 seems to be getting updates. I really don't like having to choose between updates or a microSD slot.
