Bought Nexus 7 8GB not too long ago. I was seriously torn between paying an extra 50 for the 16GB. A week later they announce that 16GB is now 200 dollars and they add a 32GB. I hate everything. The one time I buy a brand new up-and-coming product it gets obsolete a few days later. Well, it's not like I need the space. I store all my music on the cloud and only save my "Favorite" playlist. but still...
That was rumored for like a month before it occurred.
http://event.asus.com/2012/tablet/nexus_7/ Can get a £25 asus store voucher if you got the 8GB next 7 close to the nexus 7 32GB release. Note that it won't work if you got it from google play.
Wow, not available in the US. I hate everything. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline]
That was rumored for like a month before it occurred.
I did hear about it but the articles I read all claimed it to just be a rumor and nothing else. If anything I'd thought it'd be a few months to a year off after reading the trouble ASUS had with fitting the parts in and keeping the cost down.

You need to be rooted though, and using this app. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] That, or this, which doesn't require root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.nexususb.importer&hl=en
My solution to kicking-myself-because-obsolescence is simple. 1) Buy what you know you'll be happy with! That way, when the next thing is released, you won't be upset that you settled, you'll have what you wanted. 2) Keep up on news and rumors! If it looks like a better, cheaper version is coming out in a few months (i.e. it's showing up on carphone warehouse and server logs), wait. 3) Accept tech cycles for what they are! realize that when you buy into technology, you're buying a dinosaur straight-off. As soon as they released your device, they were half way done with the next one. To ensure maximum zen when the next big thing drops, refer to rule 1 and realize you don't need this new thing. I'm sure most people already know this, but I figured I'd share. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] Also, read Buddha and meditate. Optional, of course.
Yeah, I'm waiting for 1080p screen phones to kick in Europe, like the Droid DNA did for Verizon in America.

Holy shitballs, my phone just flew out of my hand and got semi-thrown 4 feet to the ground. Bounced like 3 times off every surface imaginable. Picked it up timidly, looked it over, silver band on the bezel is scuffed. I hate Motorola's software department, but fuck me if their hardware isn't fucking bulletproof. My heart rate is still way too high...
HTC Deluxe might be what you're looking for.
I'll wait for my contract to end next june.
I've been out for the past few days and I have to say dealing with mobile networks for actual serious internet use is the worst fucking thing ever, compounded by the fact that the bbc iplayer android app is pretty fucking wank (the buffering system makes very little sense and apparently you can't lock the device when listening to radio shows, yeah I don't understand it either). Using my house's wifi and everything working perfectly was a fucking breath of fresh air, my god.

God damn it's annoying.
Great function, Google!
That's a samsung function as I recall; one of the plethora of irksome idiosyncrasies that they put into fucking touchwiz. Makes me glad I'm running CM.
I'll wait for my contract to end next june.
Good stuff usually comes out in Q4. Just look at this year: Galaxy Note 2, Nexus 4, Droid DNA, iPhone 5, all those Windows Phones...
snip, I'm late.
Dunno if it was just the one I tried in Phones4U but I thought the UI was pretty ugly, especially the font. But it was quick, I'll give it that.
Touchwiz is something only a mother could love; I wouldn't mind it so much if it wasn't so obviously inferior in every way to stock android. Samsung should really stop pushing it. I'm not really a fan of any of their mobile designs either, they look about 5 years out of date. I mean, my S2 doesn't look bad as such, just bland and slightly cloying like a mediocre bowl of porridge or something.
Great function, Google!
I like the idea behind it (people destroy their hearing by blasting cheap iPod earphones) but it assumes that a certain volume is always going to have the same gain. It should actually measure the decibels coming out somehow instead of just choosing an arbitrary volume to warn about. All my music is Replay Gained which makes it quieter at the same volume than standard music files.
Though the good thing about the galaxy phones is that they've reached the weird point where they're so popular they lose value really slowly compared to all other electronics, sort of like the iphone and games like COD/The Sims.
To be completely honest, TouchWiz Nature (which is getting backported to Note and S2 with the 4.1.2 update) blows TouchWiz 4 (2011) out of the water. I'm not a fan of the lockscreen (that remains ugly and stupid IMO) and I generally just love Holo, but Samsung improved everything and it's now a very decent UI.

I don't know a single person who would take notice of that and tbh why should they?

TouchWiz seems cool now, actually adds new features. Just that multi-windows is awesome.
From a general consumer stand-point, I think the Galaxy S3/Note 2 phones managed to be the phones that "just work" out of the box. That's one of the many things I used to hear that iPhone has and Android does not, that you have to download a shit-ton of apps for the device to become useful etc.

She uses what she likes and her feeling is that Nova is better. I agree. But dem quick settings... I want those. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] And I can't stand the way TouchWiz looks grey when you scroll. Like you're looking through dirty glass...
I.... [sp] like TouchWiz as much as stock [/sp]
nooooooooooooooo can't stand it, though it did feel a little bit smoother than stock last time I tried it, but this was with touchwiz on android 2.3 and early stock ICS so it might be different now [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] that said I've only used touchwiz 2011 so take my rantings with a pinch of salt x

Care to elaborate about the greyness? I either never noticed that (haven't used an S3/Note 2 too much) or I'm not sure what you mean. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] Quick, friend's thinking about an Xperia TL. Y/N?
Free programmable NFC chip! Sadly, it's US only... http://www.movaluate.com/free-nfc-tag-giveaway
Does anyone happen to have the same problem as me, such that when you receive a picture/multimedia message without an internet connection on, you cannot load the message even when you turn internet connectivity back on? I tried searching for a solution, but the top one I found was "yes" Running 2.3.6 on samsung aviator
Just that multi-windows is awesome.
I tried that on Note II last Friday. It was really smooth, I had two browser windows (Chrome and built-in) open and there was no lag when changing between windows. The only gripe was that when I started typing something in the other window, the keyboard wasn't full-sized and I had to change to landscape mode to have keys big enough to type comfortably.
Quick, friend's thinking about an Xperia TL. Y/N?
T is apparently pretty decent, no idea if TL is too different, although I think the main difference there is LTE for America? Official JB update coming next year though, so that sucks. T also has great modding support thanks to a wise selection of HW components. (For example a CM10 version was done in about 2 weeks with all important things working, and already has CM10 Stable)
