S3 4G has lots of RAM (THIS IS IMPORTANT OKAY?) get that or note 2 [sp]or iphone 5/lumia 920/htc 8x[/sp]
Wouldn't touch an iphone 5 with a flagpole. I think I'm going with S3 4G, it also comes in black which is cool since i havent seen a single S3 in black before, just that blue-grayish color.
Only issue i could think of (which could be a big one, in my case) is lack of SD card expandable storage
I don't really see that as being much of a problem, as long as it can sync to my computer. I only use about 6gb at most on my Touchpad at any given time.
So I think my s3 just died. Out of nowhere. It was just charging, showing the blue notification LED, screen wouldn't turn on, hardware button wouldn't turn off the phone. Pulled the battery, won't turn on anymore. Charging doesn't seem to do anything. Can't get into recovery nor download mode, JTAG doesn't fucking work. I'm so scared :o
Have you tried a usb-jig?
I meant usb-jig when I said Jtag :c I don't even know what a jtag is why did I say jtag.
Jtagging is a modding an xbox 360 so it can run unsigned third party software Why DID you say jtag :v:
I don't know, it sounds similar :c
Yes, USB jigs use the JTAG protocol.
ARM Architecture processors come with JTAG support, sometimes supporting a two-wire "SWD" variant or high speed tracing of traffic on instruction or data busses.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Test_Action_Group EDIT: no wait, JTAG is a deeper level of debugging that plugs directly into the motherboard EDIT: no wait, I'm not sure either way, but JTAG is definitely not just used for the XBox
So I just got the Galaxy S3 last night, and it's firmware is still on ICS 4.0.4. I am trying to get it to upgrade to Jelly Bean but the firmware update says it's up to date. What can I do about that?
Right, now to find out how to send it in for repairs and hope the store isn't a bitch and tries to get out of it's responsibilities.. You can attempt to force a full re-check by clearing data for the Google Services Framework.
Who's your carrier?
Sprint. Also, this is my first smartphone, so I may be a little dumb about this. I appreciate help/patience in advance.

I was annoyed of the bad Nexus 4 launch. So I got myself an sgs3... and so far i am amazed. I got it pretty cheap too. 370 €

I only owned shit prepaid phones before this, so I'm finally stepping into the smartphone era. I've only played with them in the past, but owning one is so much different.
A small but growing number of Nexus 4 owners are experiencing a strange phenomenon that seems to be tied to the earpiece of the phone. Users are reporting, as per Google’s Android Project site (see: Issue 39936), a faint buzz or click emanating from around the phone’s earpiece/camera area. Others say they are experiencing distorted sounds when making calls, especially at higher volumes. The exact cause of the problem has not been pinpointed, but speculation is that it might require more than a simple software fix. The consensus is that some sort of shielding problem within the phone’s electronics could be creating the noise artifacts. [sub]http://phandroid.com/2012/11/23/nexus-4-owners-report-strange-buzzing-from-earpiece-distorted-calls/[/sub]
Nexus 4 confirmed as shitty
I was using a friends Nexus S and I noticed the Pentile display and I generally hate it. It makes my eyes hurt so any pentile display, lol no thanks
went to the at&t store today, I tried holding the note 2 in one hand, but its just to big to fluently use one hand. So i'm going with the s3, but I cant upgrade for 5 more days because it has to be within 30 days of being able to upgrade to early upgrade.
The S3 is not the only device that exists. Try at least the Optimus G, One X+, and the Xperia TL.
The S3 is not the only device that exists. Try at least the Optimus G, One X+, and the Xperia TL.
But it's the best Android device available atm. Also lol, nothing has changed from the One X it still lags.
But it's the best Android device available atm. Also lol, nothing has changed from the One X it still lags.
On AT&T it isn't, not with that dinky-ass Adreno 225.
I was using a friends Nexus S and I noticed the Pentile display and I generally hate it. It makes my eyes hurt so any pentile display, lol no thanks
since when have the Nexus S a Pentile display?
since when have the Nexus S a Pentile display?
Always unless you got the bad LCD version.
Nexus 4 confirmed as shitty
It has a load of quirks, but what phone doesn't? Here's the list of all the ones I've seen so far 4.2 isn't the most stable, requires an OTA update out of box to enable photosphere Glass back Insensitive touchscreen, can require some pressure to register taps No USB OTG out of box Can overheat and throttle (possibly fixable by reducing voltage?) Earpiece can emit noise even when not on call Some units show a beige glow on screen when warm while glue finishes drying (fades within days to weeks) Vibrate motor has to spin up, can make noise when phone is manually shaken up Power/volume buttons can be squeaky [editline]23rd November 2012[/editline] It's just another case of you get what you pay for, and none of these things are a concern for me because they don't apply to me/don't show up on all devices/are incredibly minor

I mean look at the Amazon Kindle Fire range! Even the low even Windows Phone devices.
It has a load of quirks, but what phone doesn't?
The Note II, obviously.
The Note II, obviously.
Good one. I could call the inability to use the device one-handed a major quirk. [editline]23rd November 2012[/editline] Shit display is another one.
The Note II, obviously.
Nokia Lumia is pretty damn flawless. On a build front you could argue HTC is too on their flagship models.
Does anyone know what these "Local Disk" folders in the internal storage files of my Nexus 7 are? I don't remember these showing up before.
