It's like... fate doesn't want you to change phones
I would go more with that the world is testing him.
So basically its things that I already am used to (glass back), software niggles, things that have happened before on other devices (glue drying), two possible hardware niggles, and one possible overheat issue? Okay I'll still be picking it up, even more so because I hate the look of all of atts phones.
I have an N4 and I have none of the defects mentioned apart from the buzzing from the speaker but I only heard it once. They don't ALL have these problems.
Yeah, the only things I would worry about are the overheating and possible speaker buzzing issue. (And both issues could be caused by the kernel, not an actual hardware defect. I've had similar speaker buzzing and call distortion with bad custom kernels on my phone. So these could potentially be fixed in an update.)
Uh the heating is a hardware issue. Just because a custom kernel could make it stop throttling at certain speeds, doesn't mean that's good. The chip is meant for tablets, and it simply gets too hot in a phone sized device. Making it run at too high of a temperature is not a fix, because you could be damaging the chip long term. [editline]26th November 2012[/editline] Also nobody has mentioned the N4's atrocious screen calibration? That is to say, no calibration at all.
can you guys help me here? my girlfriend wants an android (after messing with my gnex), and her budget is limited. she has about $300 to spend (R$600~), and she's almost set on the Xperia U, which costs exactly that. she's no heavy user or anything, coming from a now outdated iPod 2nd gen, but i'm still worried about the internal and non-expandable memory of the U. some people say it has 4GB usable and some say there's 6GB. with a bit of music and some apps that'd probably fill up real fast. does anyone else have any other suggestions? if care enough, this could be used for prices: http://compare.buscape.com.br/ (append #precos on the end of the url after you search) can someone
If she's not getting a subsidized contract phone, the Nexus 4 is basically the only other decent option (if anyone ever gets more stock of it). I don't know much about the Xperia U. The Nexus 4 has a 16 GB version, but also many flaws as Kaabii will be happy to tell you about.

Viewing the photos I've taken look good. I don't run benchmarks in real world use so I'm fine there.
Also nobody has mentioned the N4's atrocious screen calibration? That is to say, no calibration at all.
You mention this about pretty much every phone ever.
You mention this about pretty much every phone ever.
Just most Android phones, since they're usually horrible in that regard. HTC One X is still my favorite, I'd imagine HTC's 1080p phones will be my new favorite when they get released here. [editline]26th November 2012[/editline]
I don't run benchmarks in real world use so I'm fine there.
Stating a way to make it occur =/= the only way to make it occur. Anything that stresses the phone's SoC for long term will cause it to throttle down. I'd imagine in intensive 3D games you'd suddenly get a huge drop in performance after playing for a while.
Which reminds me that I still think 1080p on phones is an overkill at the moment.

Performance is just going to get worse. But it'll be absolutely beautiful, to basically have the screen of most Android tablets put into a phone.
It's like you're going to have a Ferrari Enzo with the engine of a Reliant Robin and a gas tank the size of a beer bottle.
You mention this about pretty much every phone ever.
Kaabii is our local critic and screen aficionado. He's not too bad once you get used to him. He's a passionate connoisseur who's just disappointed that so many Android phones (all of them) fail to realize their true potential. Just don't take his strong opinions as an attack on your own.
Which reminds me that I still think 1080p on phones is an overkill at the moment.
It's probably becaus "It's got more PIXELS" sells better than "the screen uses much less power" (which would be something we REALLY need)

[editline]26th November 2012[/editline]
It's probably becaus "It's got more PIXELS" sells better than "the screen uses much less power" (which would be something we REALLY need)
Yup it's a huge issue. To put it in perspective, the iPad 2 used 2.7W of power while the new iPad uses 7.0W of power. It's an enormous jump and while it was handled by stuffing in a giant battery, that type of 70% increase in battery capacity isn't happening with 1080p devices compared to their 720p counterparts. On top of all of that, it's not near as perceivable of a quality increase. Going from 132ppi to 264ppi or 163ppi to 326ppi is a huge and very visible improvement. But then you really get diminishing returns.
I'm a boy!
You are a girl now. I don't really get why you would slap 1080p on a phone. I currently have a 1280 x 720 resolution, and its more then enough to watch movies and browse the internet (note 2). I don't think you'll really notice a big difference.
Which reminds me that I still think 1080p on phones is an overkill at the moment.
It will be acceptable to call overkill once anti-aliasing isn't necessary anymore.
I'm a boy!.
God damnit, sorry, I assumed because of some things you said. I'll edit it right now.
I STILL don't have the play store why is this :c
We live in Brazil and there's no Play for devices here. And a Galaxy Nexus costs $500+, so yeah
Apparently the Nexus 4 will get to Brazil some time in 2013. And they can't call it the Nexus 4 because Nexus is already a trademark in Brazil. http://www.tecmundo.com.br/nexus/32180-nexus-4-pode-chegar-ao-brasil-em-2013.htm

But to be honest, I thought the screen of the Nexus 4 was very close to the One X (at least that was mentioned in some reviews).
Guys, is rooting your phone worth it? And how big is the chance I'll brick it? (It's a ZTE Blade by the way)

Galaxy S3 Stress Testing
galaxy s3 can survive a dildo attack i wonder what will facepunch do with this information
Look at the bending tests. Where are the "LOL CHEAP ASS SHIT PLASTIC" people now? Their fruit devices would likely explode under that pressure. (However I still think the plastic looks cheaper on the S3 than it did on the S2)
However I imagine that most people, fruit devices or not, won't be putting their device in a vise and twisting it

Samsung is the king of tough plastics, but it just feels too cheap. I really prefer Motorola's build quality. If only they had the software support to match...

Nexus 4 with a kevlar back plate... that would be interesting.
