Just installed a Jelly Bean rom on my Desire Z. This thing is really smooth.
Just installed a Jelly Bean rom on my Desire Z. This thing is really smooth.
To be honest, I tried it and couldn't deal with all the slowdowns. Went back to 2.3.7 and no problems at all. Gonna wait until it's more or less stable.

Just ordered a nexus 7. Can't wait to play around with it, and install the most ugly theme.

As long as I keep the number of running apps at minimum there's no problemh [editline]29th November 2012[/editline] Nevermind this is too much.
Preventing the phone from booting and preventing it from turning on are two different things. You have 3 layers of operability: Android, the recovery environment, and and fastboot/download mode. If you make a bad config change or break a system file that prevents you from getting into android, you can re-flash from recovery. If you somehow corrupt (or install the wrong) recovery, you can fix it with download mode. If you zero-fill all the NAND on the device, see if you can send it in for repair/replacement and hope for the best.

If it doesn't boot it's most likely a hardware issue, which really is the best issue you can have with a rooted/non-vanilla device because they can't check for any modifications that way.
Forgot to reply but thanks for the explanation guys!
Being able to switch the battery on the Gnex without having to power up again is the best thing ever. How does this black magic work?
Wait, is this actually a thing??
New updated Chrome for Android makes scrolling feel like slicing butter with a hot knife. So smooth and no stuttering now!
Holy shit, this update unsucked Chrome! I just disabled Browser because I will no longer be needing it.
I played with a mini S3 today, running JB, funnily all the other normal S3's still had ICS it's really awesome
I am now a proud owner of a Galaxy S3 4G. Three questions (two related to the phone, and one not related) First: Is it slower or about the same to charge the phone through USB compared to charging via outlet. Second: How long should the initial charge be? Third (Not related to phone): Why is Nexus 7 so cheap compared to phones? Very interested in getting one.
I got the same plan, just for my N4. It was a pain in the dick to set up because I thought you could do it at Wal-Mart, but they just sell cards for it. So I go to the T-Mobile store, they give me a SIM card, turns out I needed the activation card too. Run back to T-Mobile, get back home, it fucks up trying to set up a money bill cycle. Call T-Mobile, get cut off in the middle of getting that set up. Call back, finish that nonsense, set up Google Voice and now I've been messing with the thing since. Something I'm surprised about is how much I just don't feel bad about there only being 16gb. I'm only storing FLAC's on the phone itself, everything else is uploaded to Play. The few apps I do have don't take up any space at all. Loving it so far.
why the hell do you even have flac files i guarantee none of the hardware you own is capable of the dynamic range difference between a v0 mp3 and a flac file and they are literally a quarter of the size [editline]29th November 2012[/editline]
I am now a proud owner of a Galaxy S3 4G. So the nexus 4 cant use wifi or anything or am I completely wrong? (That's what my understanding about radio is, sorry if im a dumbshit)
no if you leave it plugged it it's just going to stay there, you dont need to oversaturate batteries anymore and haven't for like six years now and i meant to type 7 instead of 4 but both the nexus 4 and 7 have wifi. they just dont have stupid carrier markup and they designed them to me cheaper. that doesnt mean that they lost features or anything it just means that they're selling them for what it costs to make them instead of slapping an extra $300 on the price tag and trying to get carriers to sell them

My RAZR V3 from 2004 had absolutely no issues with overcharging. Either way, modern phones are pretty smart when it comes charging and monitoring the battery.
Buying a Nexus 7 tomorrow. I'm a little worried about the defects people say they can have, though.
Most of the issues should be ruled out by now. Mine didn't have any of the common defects that were specified and I got it nearly 2 months ago.
Thanks, that made me feel a lot better! Any stores you guys would recommend for me to buy the Nexus 7 from? I was thinking Office Depot. I'd buy it online but I am too impatient to wait for shipping
It's a store office depot had the 32 gig for 230 on black friday save 20 bucks whatever [editline]29th November 2012[/editline] but yeah, it would be good to buy it there, people don't usually buy tablets there
Whenever a black screen is being display on my Note, not true black but an off-black like the background of some apps, there's a black streak on the right of my phone and some random black splotches on the screen. Does anyone know what this is? I can't believe they'd be dead pixels, as colour is displayed fine-ish (bar the standard cross-hatching). Here's a recreation of what I'm talking about, I can only see it when the only light source is the screen itself. It's definitely not smudge marks or anything like that. Apparently Nexus 4 has overheating issues
Yes, that was discovered a long time ago. Putting it in the freezer almost doubles some benchmark scores.
How likely is it to turn off while playing 3D games? Surely someone would report the turning off already during normal use, but it seems that the only things that "trigger" this are benchmarks. I'm following a lot of places where people talk about the Nexus 4 and so far nobody reported anything like "I was playing <3D intensive game here> and my phone shut down". Stop scaring me, I really want this phone :C

The Optimus G, the non-nexus variant of the same device, doesn't have the throttling, and benchmarks such as the above will just crash before completing, while the Nexus 4 will complete the run although with a lower score than it should be getting.
Also my dad got the iPhone 5 through work (he's da boss) and he opened it and said he felt a little dissapointed after playing with my S3 when it arrived He says he misses the radio the most v:v:v
Coolio, 300$ Is a great price considering my S3 was 800$
$800? Ouch. Which country? In Canada you can get it for $650 brand new, or $550 "like new" on Craigslist/Kijiji
my phone stops working in the cold :<
my phone stops working in the cold :<
My digitizer sometimes messes up when it's under 0°C, but all I have to do is lock and unlock and that fixes it. [editline]29th November 2012[/editline] So, Canadians, who's the best cell provider? The best plan I've found is with Bell: $53.00 /mo. - 200 voice minutes - 500 MB data Rogers and Telus seem to give way less data for under $55.
