2011? That's your own damn fault for buying something that wasn't a Galaxy S II. Hell the title of the thread back then said buy an SII for high budget or a ZTE Blade for low budget. Those 3D phones were just throwaway gimmicks, and where are they now? [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] I mean I understand your frustration but LG didn't have a good track record for software quality or updates back then either.
They're lying cunts: http://www.facebook.com/notes/lg-mobile/ice-cream-sandwich-ics-os-upgrade-schedule/334420639902596
during the third quarter of 2012: the LG Optimus 3D
Which quarter is it? I didn't know about this thread back when I bought my phone. I didn't even have a clue about Android updates. WiFi doesn't always turn off completely, draining my battery like fuck when it bugs out. Mobile hotspot crashes my phone when I try to turn it on. When I turn on 3G, I get this annoying message "ARE YOU SURE?". Also it drains my battery within mere hours when I keep it on

We are in the 4th quarter, so if that 3D phone isn't out right now, it has been delayed almost a full quarter.

Those would be calendar quarters, but there are also fiscal quarters (in the US). Those actually start 3 months behind the calendar year. But that just means LG is even more behind, since right now it's the first fiscal quarter of 2013. (But to clarify, that's in the US only. Canada uses regular calendar years as fiscal years.)
I'd never buy a phone that would have to rely on LG for software updates, because LG is the number one worst ever OEM for that, but I have no problem with LG hardware when someone else takes care of the software (hello Nexus 4). Back when I was deciding on what Android phone to buy, I was really leaning towards the LG Optimus 2x. After reading a lot of reviews I decided to go for the S2 instead, and boy am I glad I did that. Dodged a bullet right there. But then LG makes some pretty awesome TVs. And washing machines :v: Their phone software department consisting of one downs monkey however is having a hard time at doing anything at all.
I have one Ingress invite. If anybody wants it just PM me.

You can't count on anyone but Google to actually update their damn phones, especially LG. It's a shame CyanogenMod doesn't make a official build for your phone, but it is what it is. At that point (July) the best move would have been to get a Galaxy S II. [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] I've come to a point where I would never, ever buy a non Nexus phone. The GSIII almost meets my specifications for what I want in a phone, but the ugly design + the fucking physical home buttons (and non-software buttons) kills it for me. I enjoy Nexus phones because it is the user experience Google want me to have. And it turns out Google are master UX designers. I've never been more happy with a phone than my Galaxy Nexus, and I plan to get whatever the next Nexus phone is late next year.

People on XDA call LG "Lies good", but the grammar on that term is just as bad as LG's update schedule LG has been saying they were "testing" the software for half a year now.
Here's a fact: ICS updates for the Optimus 3D and Optimus 2X are not happening. The updates themselves might exist, but they're probably too buggy and nobody at LG is willing to fix them. The only ICS update was the one released for the Korean version of the 2X.

Oops, missed that. Still, don't count on an official global rollout. I think LG is doing more harm to themselves with promising something that won't happen for most owners of the phones instead of admitting that they're having problems updating these phones.
Hero's of Order and Chaos came out for Android, played the tutorial for like a minute and I like it.
Managed to bear with a Wildfire for 2 years and now on a Samsung Galaxy S2. Not an S3, but damn the difference. Holy shite.
Managed to bear with a Wildfire for 2 years and now on a Samsung Galaxy S2. Not an S3, but damn the difference. Holy shite.
Went from an Eris to a Galaxy Nexus. And holy tits, Facepunch pages don't take a minute to render anymore. And everything is SO SMOOTH.
Mine (on the S2) still looks identical to when I opened the case on day one, and I dropped my S2 a couple of times already, even though I try to be super careful (because expensive technology deserves that). What in the hell do you people do with your phones?
Also, in response to this, I spent like 20 minutes yesterday carefully polishing my phone with microfiber cloth, scrubbed and rinsed the back cover so the Samsung logo shines again, then checked it under a bright light. It's good as new, the only scratch is that almost-invisible hairline scratch on top right of the glass, but it takes some time to get the right angle to see it. Pretty good considering that I was expecting myself to break this thing apart after a year. Edit: Also, there's dust between the glass and the rim of the phone, which sucks and is super hard to remove, but whatever. Who at Samsung thought not attaching the display glass and the rim together was a good idea?
Will be doing my review this weekend for the Nexus 4, I want to make it a good one!
Make it look like what the verge does with their video review and actually make a video review.
I love The Verge.
The Verge is just as bad as any other tech site that isn't Anandtech. Their writers are complete imbeciles when it comes to technology.
I don't understand all the folks dropping and cracking their phones and just generally damaging them. I don't take particularly good care of mine and it shows a little in lots of minor surface scratches on the facia, but I'll see fashion students with wrecked iPhones and shit and just be left stumped as to how they manage to fuck them up so bad. I mean seriously, this Atrix has spent at least half it's life living in piles of swarf on a workbench, sat in chemicals or glue and been accidentally put in the same pocket as keys a handful of times. Their phones look like they've spent a similar amount of time pressed up against a belt sander.
I've seen some pictures where people have cracked the back of their phone by accident, and then turned it into art with ink [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] Here it is: [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] No idea why the photo shows different cracked phones but whatever
I have one Ingress invite. If anybody wants it just PM me.
What is Ingress?
What is Ingress?
An RTS game using the real world. Don't bother playing it unless you have GPS and mobile data, and you like travelling around your city a lot (if you live in a town, not a city, really don't bother)
What is Ingress?
http://www.ingress.com/ Part of an ARG by the Goog.
I can't wait to see what the next OS leap after jellybean will be, seeing as Jellybean has added project butter, Android is really starting (or has already started) to get nice
Remember how ICS introduced a Data usage manager? I wish they'd improve the Battery stats in a similar fashion for 5.0: - Prevent app from keeping phone awake (display shuts off, app is paused) - Per app graph showing when is the selected app running - More detail about what the OS is doing (better logs, such as separating and/or renaming Mediaserver/Media to Media Playback and Media scanner) - Battery saving mode (ability to limit which apps run in background, limit CPU speed, auto brightness sensitivity/turn it off) and so on
For some reason, my stock Sense ROM shows almost nothing in the battery stats. I've seen it list an actual app maybe once. The rest of the time it's just display, standby, and cell radio. Does anybody know how I can fix this? (Don't say flash a custom ROM)
Unless there's an easy fix on Google/XDA, boot into recovery (no idea how HTC handles this, but Samsung for example has a simple one) and see if there's "wipe battery stats" there, alternatively if you're rooted get an app that does it ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration ). The only other thing to try apart from flashing a custom ROM would be doing a factory reset. Nothing guaranteed, but maybe something didn't initialize right and is broken ever since you're using the phone?
Wow I never drop my phone :-)

I guess I'll try the factory reset; that might work. Except that factory reset only wipes the /data, not the /system; should I re-flash RUU? That's a bit of a pain though.
No guarantee it'll actually affect the battery stats, but it's worth a shot. Are RUUs like final firmware versions for HTC phones? Maybe the one you currently have is bugged when it comes to battery stats? I'd check XDA for your phone if you haven't already. Once you can shovel through the shit you could find if anyone else has a similar issue.
