Apparently everyone is getting 4.1 for their HTC One X apart from me.
All they need to do is just re-write it in native code and actually add some polish.
No, that's what they need to do if they want to stop progress for a year. Optimization hardly ever requires a rewrite, it's very much a sign of a bad programmer to be constantly rewriting things. Refactor, optimize, don't rewrite for no reason.
Nobody who says that can possibly be living in reality.
Doesn't take a genius either to realize that going with WP was a shitty move. Anything but that would've been better, yes including Android. [editline]6th December 2012[/editline]
Optimization only goes so far. The implementation of their JVM has 100 times more to do than the language they chose, and this has been true for tens of years. Rewrites are what you do when you don't know where the performance problem actually is.
so I installed the SwiftKey flow beta and pressed space a bunch of times (inspired by that xkcd comic) after letting it personalize based off my FB/Twatter/Gmail stuff I got "I unlocked the New York city"
Doesn't take a genius either to realize that going with WP was a shitty move. Anything but that would've been better, yes including Android.
Yet none of you have actually demonstrated this, you just keep repeating it like a broken record and pretending that somehow makes it a logical statement. So no it definitely doesn't take a genius because a genius would put forth something backed up by some basis in fact. Answer the question of HOW. How would Android be better? Show me the numbers that show that if a company uses Android they'll be prosperous when Samsung basically controls all of Android profits.
I have a HTC Wildfire S. I thought it was SO COOL when I first got it. It was my first smart phone ever. Then I realized how freaking stupid and buggy it is. You can't even install custom roms on it, the memory is bogged down with bloat-wear from Virgin Mobile, the screen has been buggy lately and its soooo freaking small and things crash all the time. I blame old hardware and updated apps causing this. I want a new phone. I hear the G S4 is coming out in April but if it's going to be more than 200 dollars on the spot to buy with a plan then I don't want to get it. Anybody have a good alternative? I want to actually have a nice phone for once that is up to date. (Or fairly up to date like the S3)
Doesn't take a genius either to realize that going with WP was a shitty move. Anything but that would've been better, yes including Android.
That statement, even if you replace those two phone OSes with other phone OSes (iOS/WP, Android/iOS, whatever) is objectively wrong and you are an idiot for thinking any variation of that is right. The only reason one should pick a certain OS over another is personal preference, and they should never force that opinion on anyone else.
RATE THIS DUMB, THE CAFFEINE HADN'T KICKED IN YET AND I HAVE SHIT READING COMPREHENSION

So no it definitely doesn't take a genius because a genius would put forth something backed up by some basis in fact.
Well I guess we're both retards then. I'm just going by what's happening in the real world. If their newly released phones aren't an immense success, heads will roll, starting with Stephen's.
The only reason one should pick a certain OS over another is personal preference, and they should never force that opinion on anyone else.
I never said otherwise. Obviously end users should just use what they like the most. I was clearly saying that WP was seemingly a bad choice for Nokia, and I only mentioned Android because the person I was replying to specifically mentioned it in his post. edit: don't rate him dumb! it's mean!!

In comparison, that's more than the entire (previous) Lumia range (610, 710, 800, 900) sold in the whole of the third quarter of 2012, which is three months. The apparent success of the Lumia 920 has helped Nokia's stock to reach a 7 month-high of $3.40 as of November 22, having jumped 21% in just five days
I only see stocks falling for lots of Android OEMs. Which world is the real one again? Oh and you can cut me out of the first statement I guess, cuz here's my basis in fact.
Never thought I'd say it, but damn, I actually like SwiftKey Flow. Just wish the Holo theme was even closer to the AOSP keyboard.
Its beautiful. I love it.
My parents are away for the weekend and I got bored and had a play with my dads iPhone 5 he's left on a shelf (hasn't got the SIM yet :v:) I don't really know what to say, the screen is feels odd because it's just taller not any wider, and it's really light, has a super nice build quality, but my only problem was texting with two hands on it was a pain because of it's sharp edges and smooth design, Siri was a bro and told me the weather when asked, and yeah then I turned it off and came back here :v: (nobody is home till saturday so I'm really quite bored)
My bad, I thought you were yelling at someone who chose WP over something else.
Don't take my PM too personally then. But really, replying without understanding is silly.
"I unlocked the New York city"
Hey cousin, let's go see some titties!
I only see stocks falling for lots of Android OEMs. Which world is the real one again? Oh and you can cut me out of the first statement I guess, cuz here's my basis in fact.
I'm not cutting you out of the first statement because that metric isn't meaningful. You're basically agreeing with me, so that's okay.
So, the app is broken for me. It won't load quotes, rates, or my own posts. 100% unusable.
because they completely fucked up 2011
It was beginning to go downhill already in 2010, but it picked up momentum in the start of 2011. The shotgun approach isn't well suited for the mobile market (spamming out models). Here's hoping Samsung realizes that too soon.

Anyone else playing Hero's of Order and Chaos?
t just makes it impossible for them to keep all the devices updated.
Doesn't help when they launch a device that they know won't be able to be updated to begin with, like the One V.
HTC should've kept their original plan for 2012. 4 phones and a tablet. NOTHING ELSE. And make sure you can give them at LEAST two future major Android versions (the ones with codenames). I can almost bet they'll come up with a similar statement this year, promising less devices with more support for 2013 and then shit out a ton of Desire variants again.

I guess it was dumped when HTC said they were abandoning the market right?
What happened to said tablet? I guess it was dumped when HTC said they were abandoning the market right?
Most likely because I never saw an HTC Tablet on the market, like ever.
They are releasing another phone almost exactly the same as the DNA next month.
Well that's different because it's probably a variant for people who use normal carriers.
What happened to said tablet? I guess it was dumped when HTC said they were abandoning the market right?
It's a shame, the flyer is really nice.
