any suggestions for pdf reader apps for a tablet?
Ezpdf is pretty good.
What's wrong with Adobe reader?
Does it run in the background? Doesn't on WP7 which is why it's useless.
It does, and it NEVER. EVER. STOPS.

At first it runs okay. Then it starts leaking RAM like mad.

HTC will come the closest.
HTC shoulda left it at the X/S/V. They've ruined it again by making the Desire C, XL (should not have used Tegra 3 in the first place) X+ etc etc
Let's hope that HTC doesn't go full retard next year, and sticks with Snapdragon for all phones. Snapdragons ALL the way down. The One X2 or whatever it becomes should use Krait v3, SLCD3, and 2 gigs of RAM, if not more. 32 GB minimum is mandatory for all flagship devices, preferably with microSD slot.
Tegra 4 can get shoved on some insanely high end dual-boot Android/W8 RT transforming tablet or something with 64 GB of internal storage minimum, full SDXC support, the works.
because Sense
LOL good one.
Samsung spends more money on advertising than Coca-Cola. I literally see "Next Big Thing" ads EVERYWHERE and billboards are plastered all over the place with Samsung Galaxy ads. Once Samsung got in the market and figured out how to keep people from leaving Samsung devices, which is basically just cowing the greatest critics with some preliminary moves to do something that never happens (Exynos platform source comes to mind), no one but Samsung was going to dominate the market.
You won't get the S4 for 200 dollars, oh boy no
Your best bet would be the galaxy nexus 4 (if you can get the damn thing) because it's the Official android phone, so it will be the first phone to get the new OS when it's released, plus it's really cheap
With a plan.
I would honestly say that HTC is starting to become a value alternative. Price cuts on them happen quite often, with devices like the DNA selling for 150 on Amazon already.
Nokia are great with cameras, it's a shame they went to Windows Phone and not Android, for the most stupid reason ever, "differentiation". I haven't seen anyone with a Windows Phone, even then, HTC make some nice Windows Phones so for the few people that have them, it might not even be a Nokia. Nokia was great back in the day, and they'd probably continue to be great if they'd at least made Android phones and Windows Phones like HTC are doing.
Also I agree I left Android because like some others felt, it felt "unfinished" and I had slight bugs here in there, but in general Android was great and I think it'll turn out to be the best mobile OS when it gets through a few more versions. I may come back to Android at some point, I can see it being a possibility
Honestly speaking, Sony, HTC, and Samsung are all pretty solid with camera. LG has good hardware but their software takes far too much work for someone to just take a good shot.
I've wiped battery stats a billion times, actually. I guess I'll try the factory reset; that might work. Except that factory reset only wipes the /data, not the /system; should I re-flash RUU? That's a bit of a pain though.
Battery stats wipes don't do shit. And the reason why most things don't show up is because you're probably using the device enough that the system determines just about every app as negligible in the total power draw.
If you want real battery stats analysis you need to get BetterBatteryStats.
URGENT: http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-butterfly/#specs
This showed up on the international website. It's the DNA style so it's definitely NOT the J Butterfly, and it claims to have microSD too.
Sony and Samsung have their own large camera department but Sony has the much larger one because of the variety of cameras they make from phones to tv cameras to high end cinema cameras so they know more with cameras than Samsung and their point and shoot and small dslr departments.

Yeah but Sony's mobile department is struggling, I don't know if they really have the ability to do the kind of stuff that Samsung or even HTC can do. They're definitely starting to turn a profit but it seems like they just pull an off the shelf Sony Camera division CMOS+optics combo and use integrated SoC-based ISP, which is far from bad but could be so much better.
Sony said they should have jumped into Android earlier which is pretty obvious and their first batch of devices were not too bad besides the mediocre internal storage. Now there's great cameras, good looking phones and storage on them. They even released an official flash let today which makes developers and modders jump. Sony is getting much better, now only if they can start using quad cores and more ram.

Quadcore is not necessarily better. The APQ8064 basically shows no improvement over the MSM8960 in tests like Sunspider because there is no IPC increase and Sunspider is almost completely single-threaded computer-bound.
Sony really should be a launch partner for an MSM8960T device using 5" 1080p displays that are in devices smaller than the DNA/Butterfly. Put in a custom camera ISP solution, purpose-designed optics, extreme optimization of the whole ROM/device, and some incredible industrial design and Sony should have a winner.
HOLY SHIT

Jellybean on my optimus 3D!
It probably won't have 3D though...

Posting from jellybean. It's very nice, but it crashed a couple of times and I haven't got the network working yet.
Fuck, baseband unknown

It's been a rumor since October that they are going to put out a 2013 flagship phone with 5" 1080p display (it'll be quadcore too gary), made by a group effort by Sony, Hitachi, and Toshiba aka JDI. In this video, 5", 7", 12" versions of the displays. Now if Sony makes a waterproof 12" tablet with all the features of the Xperia Tablet I'd get it.

And both Nexus 10 sizes are sold out in Australia
Maybe now they'll actually think about restocking
got a Samsung Galaxy s3 in pebble blue today! awesome phone

I don't like touchwiz much and I want to root it to have stock Android though. my model is the i9305 but I read something about CyanogenMod not supporting its Exynos processor?
Still undecided between Galaxy S3 and Nexus 4. Nexus 4 seems to have better performance, but only if you keep it in the freezer... I'm not entirely fond of the S3 either. There are so many versions of it, some with vastly different hardware. Seems like it would be bad for custom ROMs and all that. Performance is the main priority for me, so I'm leaning towards the Nexus 4. I don't like the fact that it has cooling issues though.

If performance is the first priority is an Android device really the best decision?
If performance is the first priority is an Android device really the best decision?
It's pretty much the only choice if you also want flexibility to tinker.
Google could use some serious competition in that department.
ignore Kaabii; get an S3
The most intensive games run fine on my Nexus 4.
Benchmark tools != Games
Yah the Nexus 4 heating thing is a non issue in real world use.
[editline]7th December 2012[/editline]
I'd still get the S3 because the launcher animation fluidity and the SD slot.

Well then his first priority is flexibility, then speed. I'm saying if your absolute highest priority is a smooth fast device it's not an Android device.
Speaking of Nexus 4, I got my bumper case today. I like it although it makes it a tad wider and that makes me have to stretch a little more. That was to be expected really.
I rang Google Play and got my £5.99 shipping back since it took them two weeks to send it.
I should probably have mentioned that I like to tinker. That's why I want an Android phone.
Get the LTE version of the S3 if you can (i9305), because it has more RAM.
You need more RAM, trust me.

Just install apex or nova launcher and you're good to go on the 'stock' android front (mostly).
posting from my nexus 7
The latest version of TouchWiz is beautiful, performant and useful; I don't know what people have against it. Stock is still awkward to me (although it's getting much better), and I really hate the holo icons (the blue pointy Wi-Fi, cell and battery levels)
The new TouchWiz follows a lot of the good parts of holo, compared to Sense which follows none of it
yea, I'm still on touchwiz, don't see why to change it to something else because it's pretty good and funxtional
TouchWiz is smooth and useful at the same time, at least it's not like Sense where it's somewhat useless with all sorts of lag Sony Timescape doesn't lag but has less features but it's still pretty smooth.

it's not so much I don't like touchwiz as it is me wanting the new features of latest android :P
Touchwiz is good. but I really want that camera sphere and typing feature

sony's thing is really pretty
sense is pretty too but they should make their own os or something cause that's not androidy

Fair enough. Personally I'll just wait till Samsung releases 4.2 sometime in Q1-2013.
