I pity anyone who can't instantly recognize the factory reset code.
Well, because my phone died the night before last, so I plugged it in around 4 am, unplugged it around 6 am ( got very little sleep) and it was at 61% and died during last period at school today.
So about this
http://i.imgur.com/29ahH.jpg Hahaha. (Disclaimer: dont do this)
That took a lot less time than I expected. And it looks so Samsungish that people could actually fall for it. It begins!
all i want is for them to use their fucking ram right and they won't
Fuckin' called it :v:
I knew it'd void the warranty, and yeah, I don't think the whole 'sleep of death' is related to the rooting, personally. Just seems like the digitizer is either loose or broken. I already looked it up and opening this thing isn't a good idea unless you know what you're doing. Chill.
Aw man don't be like that! I am genuinely trying to be helpful, I apologize if my post came off as harsh. In my defense - I see this exact sort of post/question/help thread ~20-30 times daily, so it gets to be wearing answering it over and over (that and I had juust woken up, call it early morning crankiness :v: ).
True. But I think using SuperOneClick to root is a lot safer than flashing. SuperOneClick just uses an exploit to launch a root ADB session, and then uses that to install SuperUser. And if you used SuperOneClick to root, you can use it to unroot because it knows where it installed SuperUser, so it can delete it too. Unfortunately, SuperOneClick only works for Gingerbread and Froyo AFAIK.
Either way, the process robs the user of the chance for understanding what it going on behind the scenes. If for some reason. SuperOneClick cannot manage to unroot a device, the users usually hem and haww over it, when all they need to do is reflash the stock ROM, or manually remove the superuser app and binary. Of course I'm simplifying, but it isn't difficult to do. I'm not saying one-click apps are a bad thing - I've used SuperOneClick along with other root apps to root numerous devices - but only after thoroughly understanding HOW the tools work. That way I'm not left in the dark if something goes wrong.
Isn't it 5GB of 4G and then unlimited 3G? [editline]26th September 2012[/editline] Nevermind, just saw that it's 2G on T-mo's site. How fast is "2G speeds", then? I'm looking into getting a Galaxy Nexus from the Play store and the $30/month 100min talk unlimited text and web with 5GB of 4G prepaid plan from them.
The '2G' that you get from T-Mobile is absolutely atrocious. I surpassed my 5GB limit a few times and once I get throttled I can barely load a web page, certain low bandwidth apps function decently but you can forget about things like Youtube.

Its literally slow dial-up at 16 Kb/s (at least CDMA 2G is) with 1500 ping.
A malicious hack that uses a USSD exploit to remotely wipe Samsung handets running the custom TouchWiz interface has already been resolved for at least one smartphone, according to the Korean manufacturer. Samsung released a statement saying the vulnerability has already been addressed with a recent update to the Galaxy S3 and is urging users to update their phones to the latest official software build. “We would like to assure our customers that the recent security issue concerning the GALAXY S III has already been resolved through a software update. We recommend all GALAXY S III customers to download the latest software update, which can be done quickly and easily via the Over-The-Air (OTA) service.” Samsung made no mention of a security patch for other handsets affected by the exploit, which include the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Ace, and Galaxy Advance. We expect updates will arrive shortly to address the issue for those devices.
http://phandroid.com/2012/09/26/samsung-says-remote-wipe-hack-already-addressed-in-recent-galaxy-s3-update/

But yeah, the main problem is my phone is in permanent I CAN'T SEE SHIT CAPTAIN mode, so I can't reset through ClockworkMod. I'm pretty sure I can find the stock rom online somewhere and flash that on with SuperOneClick. So much bloatware, ugh. How would I go about manually deleting the superuser app and binary, by the way? If you don't mind me asking. Still fairly new to 'droids. Had the phone about a month before this happened... Talk about your bad luck.

If they throttled it to 3G or something it would be fine, but going from a 4G connection to 2G is just plain unfair. They should label it as a limited plan.
Anyone else getting this? [t]http://i.imgur.com/5W40V.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/y5a5p.png[/t]
No provider does unlimited anymore. The word has absolutely no meaning. Always read the fine print.
got a new PC decided to root this POS desire Z, I've got superOneclick and the android SDK downloaded, it says I need my device drivers? does that mean I download "HTC sync"? IF you've downloaded it with the SDK manager that is. [editline]26th September 2012[/editline]
The '2G' that you get from T-Mobile is absolutely atrocious.
wat. I don't even have that as an update...
I was able to update it now. The update of it might be JellyBean/AOSP specific.
yaaaaay rooted my phone woop woop Now, any ICS roms for the desire Z V:v:V [editline]26th September 2012[/editline] Okay no, it crashed when I launched the SU app, but when it rebooted it's unrooted? [editline]26th September 2012[/editline] the SU app doesn't launch it force crashes fucks sake I want to throw this phone out the window more than I usually do
No provider does unlimited anymore. The word has absolutely no meaning. Always read the fine print.
here they do
Hahaha. (Disclaimer: dont do this)
"If I did do that, would it reset the recovery to stock as well?" he asked, even though common sense dictated that it was probably a "no".
"If I did do that, would it reset the recovery to stock as well?" he asked, even though common sense dictated that it was probably a "no".
It does.

That's like saying an ISP shouldn't be able to call a plan unlimited because they can only provide X speed so you could only theoretically download a certain amount per month at that speed. This type of logic annoys us in the cell industry to no end. If you think you're getting a raw deal then cancel and don't have mobile internet.

Google is finally on the right way of improving the experience for both users and developers.
Aw yeah

I just don't buy subsidized phones anymore. My original Droid 1 works as an access point for Nexus 7, and can do non browsing well enough. The 800mhz single core, 256MB ram show there age. But it still has a Motorola radio in it so that's still a plus.

I don't care that they do this and I knew that before even buying into my contract, but other people will get the wrong idea. Internet doesn't need to be snappy but it should be able to work at a decent speed if they're going to advertise it as unlimited.
