Anyone else having issues with Google Music not showing your online library? Yes, I have connectivity and no, "hide unavailable music" isn't checked. It's just plain not there. Play Store works fine, so what gives [editline]9th December 2012[/editline] going into settings and tapping "refresh" appears to have fixed it still wtf was that about
I can't even use the friggin equalizer in GMusic... It's not there, at all.
I can't even use the friggin equalizer in GMusic... It's not there, at all.
your phone is a potato that doesn't count
your phone is a potato that doesn't count
It's a slow, sad little potato... In other news, the Note 2 is fucking huge.
compared to your tiny potato everything is huge
compared to your tiny potato everything is huge
no shit sherlock
I asked my parents to buy me a new battery for my Nokia E51, and things sort of escalated and I'm getting a Galaxy S2 (I9100). I want the latest CyanogenMod, but the instructions here claim that they'll just softbrick the phone. Anyone got up-to-date instructions somewhere?
Still doesn't excuse not spending that extra millimeter on making it easily removable.
Yes, it does. Especially the part where it makes placement easier, and allows a bigger battery too. Look at the design of the Razr M, Droid DNA, and HTC 8X. The battery is between the screen and the PCB, and is in an ideal place in terms of heat dissipation, and allows for a bigger battery with less thickness. It is also impossible to make the battery removable while on the go. Removable batteries are going to die. I know people hate that, but the trend is already there. Sony is going along with it, Apple started it, HTC is following too, LG's latest devices aren't removable battery either, etc... [editline]9th December 2012[/editline] Can't forget Motorola. [editline]9th December 2012[/editline]
You would have to rip it out...
No, with the DNA and other HTC devices, you use a case opener tool to remove the rear cover, then unhook the battery from the connector. With Nexus 4 and similar devices, you unscrew the rear cover and unhook the battery. This is not rocket science, it just requires a certain level of familiarity with disassembly.
Which is why it makes it so easy to decide on Samsung.
Sure, but at the end of the day Samsung might end up going along with it too. It boils down to how they choose to design the device. If it becomes clear that the L-shaped PCB design doesn't work as well as a pyramidal design copied from Motorola or HTC, then removable batteries will disappear completely. [editline]9th December 2012[/editline] Which is why I say that people need to stop getting so caught up over removable batteries. If battery life matters, the easy solution is to carry a portable battery charger and be done with it. [editline]9th December 2012[/editline] Or a battery case.
yeah p much i made a mintyboost a while back best choice ever
Or we can sacrifice another 5 mm of thinness and get a massively bigger battery and not have to worry about it...
How trustworthy are those 3500mAh battery things I see on Amazon.co.uk for like £7.90? Seems a bit cheap for such a battery, so I'm not exactly placing a lot of trust on those, but for that price I might consider one.
Don't forget the necessity of enclosing pouch cell batteries. Part of what allows Motorola to utilize the three-tier constriction approach so well and include larger batteries is that they use highly efficient pouch cell li-ion batteries. Enclosing them is safer for both the user and the battery. [editline]9th December 2012[/editline] ooh, pageking.

Which brand is it? Mine is EZO and it's legitimately about 3500 mAh (I tested how long it lasts against my stock battery). [editline]10th December 2012[/editline] if manufacturers are going to get rid of removable batteries, they should at least all make maxx versions like Motorola

Generic batteries are hard to tell at times. [editline]9th December 2012[/editline]
Or we can sacrifice another 5 mm of thinness and get a massively bigger battery and not have to worry about it...
This is kind of ridiculous. At the current size of the GS3, it's already difficult to manipulate one-handed. Something that is 14mm before a case is added is going to take two hands to use. And the whole point of going with the stacked design for a device is to make it so that a bigger battery does not add so much thickness (more length and width means any increase to height will produce a bigger increase in volume). Seriously, it's not possible to have it all. Unless you're okay with an awkward bulge on the phone that really fucks up any sense of aesthetics, a big battery will either have to be on a big phone or on one that is designed like the DNA/Razr. Oh, this also adds to my annoyance. People think the S3 is big just for the sake of being big. It's actually made as big as possible so that there can be a bigger battery on the phone, because SAMOLED takes up so much fucking battery life.

I really can't stand that every time Li-ion technology moves forward, OEMs have to void any possible benefit by slapping on a screen with an unnecessarily high pixel density/brightness/saturation. Sorry, but we don't need 1080p SAMOLED screens on devices that are usually 5 inches or less. It's just unnecessary. I'd rather have a battery that lasts longer than a screen with more detail than the human eye can perceive. Hence why I chose the Maxx.
is the number of hands that are going to be touching your phone really that big of a deal
It kinda destroys the purpose of a cell phone being a portable device if you cant use it with one hand. People with small hands have problems enough as it is.

People with small hands have problems enough as it is.
i'm sorry but I'm going to have to call bullshit on that I've used my skyrocket one-handed quite a few times. And it felt awkward every time. I felt like I had no control over what I was doing. I started using it two handed and suddenly everything just worked, and it was no less portable from it either (as I could still put it in my pocket easily).

One should be able to carry something in a hand (briefcases, shopping bags, books, what have you) and use a cell phone at the same time. Of course this is subjective, but I believe it's a pretty popular opinion. [editline]10th December 2012[/editline] I see "needs two hands" as a design flaw and a sure-fire way to alienate potential buyers. Just look at "phablets" like the G Note II. It's kind of got a niche market.

I'd look for something different.
except i can do that and still use my phone two handed? just put the briefcase/grocery bag in the same hand you hold your phone in and use your free hand to actually manipulate shit on screen
That's comfortable. In any case, you've missed my point.
That's comfortable. In any case, you've missed my point.
the subjective thing? oh no, I got that, and you'll notice I didn't address it, because I agree with you there i'm just contesting the "you can't carry a grocery bag and still use your phone two handed" thing.

I've just always found it awkward when I've tried to use friends phones and they required two hands. Lol my dad has such a terrible time with his RAZR because of the giant ass Otter Box around it :v: He needs the case, but watching him hold his phone, poke at the screen, and drive with his knees is freaking hilarious.
He needs the case, but watching him hold his phone, poke at the screen, and drive with his knees is freaking hilarious.
Why are you letting him use his phone while driving? Do either of you realize how many pedestrians you may have nearly flattened?
Why are you letting him use his phone while driving? Do either of you realize how many pedestrians you may have nearly flattened?
Zero? He has to drive around the business' property constantly. He's not checking his email on public roads, trust me. His job is a bit too... "industrial" to have pedestrians around.
Zero? He has to drive around the business' property constantly. He's not checking his email on public roads, trust me. His job is a bit too... I wonder if I should move back to Gingerbread or something. ICS is nice, but when my phone's not in the mood, doing simple tasks take like 20 seconds or more. That's really annoying when all you want to do is to type in the address bar.
