Adding more gifs to this page for testing [editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
Unfortunately my iPad is currently possessed by a demon beast and I can't check. I'll let you know tomorrow when I get my replacement 3rd/4th gen.
I've never had this happen until this week when browsing Facepunch: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Njqox.png[/t]
Well GIF animation chugs once I get in range of the high-speed ones that are my avatar and the one I posted, but scrolling remains perfectly smooth... doesn't this mean it could be fixed with a bit of optimization?
optimization chrome choose one
Actually one of the recent updates in the last couple weeks made it run MUCH better. [editline]12th December 2012[/editline] Or at least according to other people, I didn't notice a difference since it was already plenty fast on my N4.

That may or may not apply to faster scrolling where Android keeps trying to play the GIF and scroll at the same time. The best "optimization" is doing what OS's actually designed for touch input do, which is to stop things like that from loading or playing while touch interaction is occurring. Touch input main UI priority > everything else.
Yeah but it doesn't seem to run any better when I stop scrolling.
Mine seemed to run a lot better when you took your finger away.
Mine seemed to run a lot better when you took your finger away.
What device? On this page looking at the same GIFs? Or were they a different resolution/animation speed? [editline]12th December 2012[/editline] My avatar and that BF3 gif are both 20fps IIRC
I found your problem No mobile device can open facepunch without crashing
I always load up 6-7 tabs of FP on my infinity and my GS2 and I never have any problems on Opera unless its really image heavy threads.

It stuttered like hell as you scrolled away, which was at a faster speed than when you scrolled to it which it remained fairly fine during. It ran a ton better sitting still or scrolling very very tiny amounts compared to scrolling away at what would still be described as a slow speed.

As soon as the very top edge of the content of my post, below the timestamp, enters the screen, your avatar chugs. Scrolling quickly doesn't seem to make a difference, but then again neither does scrolling at all. I took my finger off when your avatar suddenly froze for a second when I had my finger down but wasn't scrolling to see if that would speed it up, and eventually it did but it wasn't as fast as when I scrolled to it.

No lags at all. [editline]13th December 2012[/editline] Now the N7.
Just compared Chrome, Dolphin, Firefox, and Opera, and it looks like they're all quite a bit better than Chrome, though Opera pauses animation while scrolling. Come on, Google.
I need like 6 tabs. It's not my fault that Android can't keep that in RAM.
Ah, guess it depends what you browse yeah. I usually get a bit higher than that before I start having noticeable trouble.
Okay, so other browsers suck less on this page. Except for Opera, which just refuses to open.

can potatoes even be considered devices?
they make good cannon ammo
Ok, so I'm sick of it. Fucking Motorola can suck my dick. My phone can't perform the most menial task without locking up. Do you have any clue how many times I've rebooted? Meanwhile, the fucking Razr HD that no one owns gets stable JB.
Motorola can't really into Android.
At the moment I like the look of windows phone, but it's not worth switching and having bugger-all apps currently [editline]13th December 2012[/editline] or dev support [editline]13th December 2012[/editline] my phone hit a new level today, or more this morning, as the alarm refused to go off (it was right next to my head and I have never once missed it, so it's not that)
The 8X runs Facepunch flawlessly :v:
My god I almost can't see the 1 inside the tabs button. How do you live with this?
Bitch, please My phone doesn't even support chrome
The gif runs slow on my iPhone 4, not just a problem with Android
Bitch, please My phone doesn't even support chrome
you've got a missed called fyi
so... I don't have a black spot on my screen! what caused it was my screen protector which is weird, because it shouldn't get that black spot
no one got the matrix reference? :(
