Is there a way I could easily just root my phone as soon as i get it? (i9300) without installing a custom rom or anything, I just want the stock phone with root access
You can just root it and leave it there.
You can just root it and leave it there.
That's all nice but I asked how :v:
CF-root is still my favored method for Samsung devices. Or now it's CF-Auto-Root? I haven't really kept up since I don't buy Android devices anymore. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273
Hence why proper app scaling from get-go is the best way to tackle it.
well yeah but i was thinking "shit, this is better than 'fuck you you only get an app meant for a Mini Pro's screen'" whoop sorry Kaabii
well yeah but i was thinking "shit, this is better than 'fuck you you only get an app meant for a Mini Pro's screen'" whoop sorry Kaabii
I can fix this messup! Yah with iOS the phone apps looking awful on tablets is a big reason for devs to make proper versions. Nobody is going to pay you a fucking dime for a stretched out phone app.

Fuck. Just bought Samsung S3 mini. Can't tell if i'm going to regret this or not.
Fuck. Just bought Samsung S3 mini. Can't tell if i'm going to regret this or not.
Probably [editline]19th December 2012[/editline] Yes
Awesome. [editline]19th December 2012[/editline] Don't see why you would, it's a really nice phone
I don't normally buy phones. I have a shit ton of tablets tho (iPad Mini,Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1). I'm just using a HTC Wildfire at the moment. So anything is better then that.
Why the need for so many tablets?
Getting rid of the samsung galaxy tab ;p Keeping the other 2 mostly to develop on. Since they are nice and small tablets.
I have some apps that only run on iPad, and they're that way because making it for phones would compromise the experience. [editline]19th December 2012[/editline] Oh and having single apps encourages laziness. This is backed up by almost the entirety of Google Play apps run on tablets. Like when you download Youtube for an iPad or Skype, it's not the same .ipa that the phone version is. Where as most .apks I have basically run on any Android device. And that's a GOOD THING to an extent, because it allows the apps to work on many different devices. But when you have a 10" tablet displaying the same info as a 4" phone, you've clearly got a problem.
this is a problem with developers though and the ones which don't create tablet specific layouts wouldn't be convinced by having to upload a separate version for tablets I'm sure I've seen apps on the play store that only work on tablets though, and part of the system does indeed allow you to pick the screen sizes to allow the app on.
See "stuck in the middle" Where it'll be shit on both versions, just in different ways. Hence why proper app scaling from get-go is the best way to tackle it.
it's a terrible way to tackle it devs aren't doing shit and that is not supposed to happen [editline]20th December 2012[/editline]
if an app supports both why not a prompt on phablets for whether you want it to display in phone or tablet mode give the user a fair chance to try both and once they decide there will be a checkbox saying "Don't show this again"
phablets just get phone apps [editline]20th December 2012[/editline] remember that nobody cares about us and that they are catering towards the average consumer who doesn't give a shit about user options and just wants pretty apps
remember that nobody cares about us and that they are catering towards the average consumer who doesn't give a shit about user options and just wants pretty apps
well yeah this is true, hell, most major apps on the play store are just half-ass iOS ports because Google never enforces app guidelines ever Shit, most of them don't even implement the back button. I mean the search button or maybe the menu button I could live without in some game or other, but I expect the fucking back button to make me go back somehow. Hierarchically, chronologically, what the fuck ever, make it a goddamn back button and not a waste of button space.
it's not kind of works that's how it works note 2 is basically galaxy s3 with a big screen, they use the same dpi values

Hierarchically, chronologically, what the fuck ever, make it a goddamn back button and not a waste of button space.
The back button is one of the most inconsistent design things that I've noticed. In theory it works....except it doesn't work in a way you expect. Sometimes it takes you back where you've been, literally. And sometimes it just goes back in terms of the hierarchy of "screens" the app has (like going up one level in a forum). Its one of those things you learn on an app by app basis. I remember this being a huge problem when I had an old Android phone (and there wasn't much of a design guideline period). When you got kicked out of an app, it was literally the most infuriating thing ever, because that meant you closed the app so it brought you to the home screen, had to relaunch the home screen app, and relaunch the app you wanted. Coming from Symbian, that was one of the most jarring things to get used to, since going back in a Symbian app meant....well going back a menu.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/oHnAq.png[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/GuEIx.jpg[/t] try and tell me which one is s3 and which one is note 2
i declare the one with the dandelion is the S3 because that was their favorite picture in marketing
Clearly the Dandelion one is the Note because of the huge "S Note" icon at the bottom. However Ezhik's main point is correct, they both use exactly the same build of TouchWiz and scaling so the difference is very small
That's all nice but I asked how :v:
Use the MASSIVE GAPING SECURITY HOLE that Samsung made in its Exynos devices and run the ExynosAbuse rooter program.
it's a terrible way to tackle it devs aren't doing shit and that is not supposed to happen
Well then the app dev's are the damn problem here. Nag the everliving fuck out of them until they pull their thumb out of their arse.
Well then the app dev's are the damn problem here. Nag the everliving fuck out of them until they pull their thumb out of their arse.
well yeah and what's better than having their apps look like shit if they're not optimized
well yeah and what's better than having their apps look like shit if they're not optimized
Other ways doesn't work either. With screens varying in size and resolution from the itty bitty xperia mini 10 to the fuckhuge godzilla galaxy note 2, then you can't possibly make something that looks good on both without implementing proper scaling from the get-go. And IF I'm not mistaken, Google even advocates that in their app programming guidelines.
I wonder how well apps scale on this thing... http://www.ebuyer.com/413464-scroll-pocket-mini-tablet-pc-55263
