Android thread V-garychencool finally rooted his phone and got ICS edition

I don't give a flying faggotry fuck about a mediocre screen is slightly worse than a top-of-the-line fuckexpensive one.
BUT a shitty DAC is something that REALLY strokes me the wrong way, no matter what.
As long as the screen is high resolution and is in color I don't care about the screen beyond that.

Doesn't your phone only satisfy one half of that?
Uhm, I don't know about you but if I was a shady kind of person I'd want to keep my "work" sim and contacts separate from my personal sim + contacts
It's not movies, this actually happens
Of course I know it happens, but you sound like one of those people who think the only people against SOPA are terrorists and child porn downloaders. Took me 10 seconds to find 4 legit and good reasons to have two SIMs, I'm sure you can use your imagination too.
Sorry I wasn't more clear, I do mean MonoDroid.
Okay, in that case I think we mostly agree. Support could become a problem, and literally nothing is too big to fail if you ask me.

Yes

I am completely lost as to how you came to that conclusion
Yeah, I thought "business men" but then I thought about it for 4 more seconds and pondered if you could have both sims active at once, as I thought you couldn't, basically making the dual sim business thing useless as when using it in one mode, you can't be contacted through the other sim (ie ignoring work calls at home, or vice versa)
I now know that there is one phone at least that uses both sims at once, so I don't know why we're talking about this

I'm fairly sure you can have both active at once since they do have two IMEI numbers. And once I was watching a review of a cheap Chinese iPhone on Ashen's channel, and it does have two separate signal bars for SIM 1 and 2, so I assume you can.

Yeah I know, we established and had the discussion a few pages back :v: that was my initial thought, like I said

I think it depends on the phone, I'm pretty sure one of the phones Ashens reviewed only did one SIM at once, and the menu option to change to the other SIM asked for a reboot.

Windows.
Or Linux, for that matter.
Anyone know of an app that will do what better battery stats does, but for free?
Also, for those who pointed out lag issues on the transformer infinity, was it before or after firmware update v10.4.4.18?
Supposedly it fixed tons of lag.
My friend got a transformer and that clenched it for me. It's fucking amazing.
Okay so if i flash cyanogen on my Galaxy S3 will TouchWiz work with it? I'm not impressed with how much bloaty trash is pre-installed on this phone and i can't see any way to uninstall apps, just disable them.
e: And the GS3 isn't on the supported device list for cyanogen so i guess i'm stuck with all this crap for now.
so I don't know why we're talking about this
Well hey, it`s the Android discussion thread. By the way, even with only one active at once, it can still be incredibly useful. People who travel frequently from one place to the other, making long distance calls with one SIM in particular, etc.
Anyway, we're pretty through.
Windows.
Or Linux, for that matter.
I disagree with both of those. Especially Windows.

All I've seen is people buying S3's or every shop I walk past has an advert for an S3 in the window, even the bus has pictures of the S3 on it with a vodaphone advert
Why does this world tease me so I've only got 4 days to wait until I can get my grubby mitts on one though..
I'm trying to get cyanogenmod on my S3, i'm a little new to all this.
My specs:
Android Version: 4.0.4 ICS
Model: SGH I747M
Baseband: I747MVLLH1
I'm guessing the first thing i should do is check and see if there's a jelly bean upgrade available, right? I'm with Rogers so this probably won't work (my baseband version isn't listed there either). Is there a jelly bean upgrade available for my specific phone? And if not, would i just go with cyanogenmod 9?
I found this but it doesn't say anything about jelly bean/ics in that page.

You are a victim of a marketing strategy and should therefore be compensated with an S3.

Betterbatterystats is free on XDA. The dev posts his app there.

Also, the AMOLED display on the GS3/Note 2 is only acceptable on natural/movie mode. Even then, it's still something like 110% gamut. Still has burn-in (noticed it on my dad's GS2, especially on blue screens), still has issues with pixel density, still has ink mark issues. White is still too blue and such but it's good for people that have GS3s and such.

Gamut isn't the only thing. Fucked up gamma and low brightness.

That's like getting an iPhone 5 after you having an iPhone 4S.
Either way, you'll love this more.

I've always had this installed and I can never decipher which thing is truly hogging my battery.
There has to be a reason why cell standby is taking 90% of my battery even when sync is off.
I hate how phone companies cheap out on the speaker inside their amazing flagship phones
I know the iPhone has a pretty good sounding speaker, but it's kind of quiet, I wish they'd add speakers like they did in the Nokia 5800, that was basically it's own portable music dock because it was so loud and sounded pretty good
I distinctly remember my BlackBerry Bold 9000 speaker being pretty nice.

Post a BBS dump, I can decipher it pretty well.

True, but for low brightness the high contrast and low reflectivity helps somewhat with visibility.
