Should I get the LG Optimus 4X HD or the Samsung Galaxy S3? LG optimus costs 100 pounds less then the S3 and has a 1.5 Ghz Quad core processor while the S3 has much better battery life, 2X more internal storage and runs Jellybean.
S3, while LG phones can keep up with the competition in benchmarks, usability, updates and build quality are all very hit or miss on their phones. O1 people basically had to beg for gingerbread and they half assed it anyway.
Jetpack Joyride is out in the play store It's pretty damn amazing, get it (its free)
is it just me or are the graphics seriously lacking compared to the iphone version
Call me crazy, but I really don't like the Robot font installed with JB. I've had to dump it for Segoe UI because of how increeeedibly readable it is at super small sizes.
I wish Android could tell me where the phantom 10 GB are coming from.
old game files? any prechached content at all?
Connect it to the pc and use software that scans the sd to find out what's using all the space
I can find it out myself, I was just lamenting that Android can't do it out of the box.
Get the Optimus 4X only if you hate updates. LG takes exactly forever to release anything. My friend has an Optimus 2X and I think it's like the only dualcore phone stuck on Android 2.3. tl;dr S3. edit: I accidentally a part of my post; fixed now.
Optimus 3D is also a dual core phone stuck on GB :/ FUCK LG
Connect it to the pc and use software that scans the sd to find out what's using all the space
Or just use the Storage Analyzer app from the Play store. That thing was a god-send back when I only had 200 MB internal space. (It can scan everything, as long as you're rooted and you enable the root options in settings.) But if you want to do it on computer, WinDirStat is very good for that.
windirstat is amazing
windirstat is amazing
And it's one example of a good application that was actually developed for Linux first. (It's a clone of KDirStat.) [editline]29th September 2012[/editline] It's amazing how much faster eMMC is than class 4 microSD. They're both solid state; why is class 4 so much slower? I've never tried class 10 because for some reason it's ridiculously overpriced here. EDIT: actually, they're only overpriced in big box stores. Is this a good one?
why do people still like the menu button
why do people still like the menu button
Why would I not like the menu button?
windirstat is amazing
FolderSize Win32 is better IMO, http://foldersize.codeplex.com/releases/view/65123 Full zoomable (think kind of like a panorama viewer, where more detail is shown the closer you zoom) and easy to read. Please ignore my shit organization, I'm in the process of transitioning between storage schemes
theres an app on the play store that works like windirstat (might require root) [editline]29th September 2012[/editline] oh and the $25 play store credit for the nexus 7 expires on sep. 30 (aka tomorrow) does that mean i cant activate my free credits on the 30th or i cant activate them on the 31st like is the 30th a valid or expired date if it expires on the 30th
Umm, I've got a tranformer TF101. Can someone gimme a breakdown of rooting it, how it works, the advantages, the perks/cons, etc. I'm a bit nervous about doing it, with so much variations of operating systems, warranty breaking, etc. What would you folks recommend?
Tbh the only real reason people bother to mod android things is to get normal android on it, Asus stuff runs a very clean version of android and customization isn't worth it as non-stock ROMs tent to be shit. Unless you found some apps you want to use that require root, there is no need to root.

If you still use a Microsoft Outlook account, you will notice that Outlook related services (or, as my parents still use: hotmail) doesn't work on android 4.0.3 (latest official build) for the TF101. Problems include inability to send or receive mail reliably (days worth of delays and such). As both my parents still use hotmail and refuse to change, I too need to root and install a new ROM on both their tablets that I've been putting off.

Just rooted my Mum's Kindle Fire for her birthday. The Kindle Fire Utility is sweet.

The only thing I'm a bit worried about is the Sense UI, but you can probably use Adw or Go launcher. (Right?) By the way, I'm curious on how the Samsung Galaxy S3 menu button works.

Flashed Cyanogenmod 10, didn't work Flashed different CWM flashed CM again, worked started setting things up noticed the S Pen didn't work looked around on xda flashed stock, didn't make the S Pen work flashed another stock flashed CWM and SuperSU (someone said it'd work) flashed some pre-rooted stock tablet didn't boot flashed CWM flashed same pre-rooted stock re-flashed the kernel for that pre-rooted stock. This and previous step got S Pen to work Flashed CM again and now CM now works WITH the pen. My flash counter of 7 shows my battle scars. Some flashes don't raise the counter, others do. I know I can get it away with TriangleAway, but that's not necessary for now, I guess.
I have a problem. Whenever a program requires root acces Superuser does give it to the app, but somehow removes it instantly or something. I see the "root access given" blend in at the bottom but the app displays "need root access",
Some flashes don't raise the counter, others do.
If it's the same as on the Galaxy S2, then the flash counter shouldn't go up as long as you're installing update.zips through CWM. My counter would have to have like a 100 flashes on it already, unless TriangleAway blocked them from logging.

Nexus 7 arrived on the mail yesterday and holy hell, the thing is so smooth it actually feels unnatural.
