I love how my tablet is still in the news and still gets CM updates. My tablet is absolutely great. I still consider it to be one of the best tablets currently in the market.
Edit:
Oh yeah android 4.2 is amazing. Some downsides though, there are two bars now: one on top and one at the bottom. That's less space for me...
I have no idea how much storage it has, 8gb or 16gb, It just says "LG E960 PHN INSUR" on the order confirmation, I've not filled the 8gb miniSD in my current Desire HD after two years of use so it should be fine.
I honestly don't use my phone a whole lot, reading Pulse, a phone call every now and again. I find tethering extremely useful though.
We're venturing into "advanced featurephone" territory then.

HOLY SHIT HOLD ME
Snapdragon 800:
Quad core Krait 400 cores @ 2.3 GHz on 28nm HPm TSMC process
800 MHz LPDDR3, dual channel
Adreno 330
LTE cat. 4.
LTE Cat. 4 will be nice. My carrier has 2600MHz spectrum that doesn't do anything because all the devices can't do the 150Mbps anyway.
as far as I'm concerned the only real advantage the S3 has over the nexus 4 is upgradable storage, but I personally would have trouble filling up 8 (or 16) GB of internal storage anyway
frankly I'd take the nexus just to have official support for the newest version of android as soon as possible
Camera is better.
ok, so how the fuck do you back up contacts to google?
I'm sick of there being zero clear answers anywhere.
I want the 92 visible contacts on my phone to be lumped in with my google contacts so I can tell Motorola to fuck off with their way of listing contacts.
Now, these 92 contacts are the only ones showing out of about 160.
How do I get these fuckers backed up?
And no, syncing to google only works for new contacts, and some of these are older PHONE contacts from the SIM.
[editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
To clarify, I want to backup these 92 specifically.
I will then delete all my contacts from my phone, sync to Google, and use Google as my primary phone book.
menu > import contacts from sim
You can only backup contacts that are actually on the phone itself. Contacts on your SIM, contacts synced from facebook skype etc, they're read only and google won't back those up.
i will get a sony xperia sola extremely soon, what custom rom should i get for it? or should i stay with the stock one?

Cyanogenmod if you can get a build for your device.
Cyanogenmod if you can get a build for your device.
there is no official build for the sola

I thought this was my problem, but it told me there were no contacts on SIM. Your reply was very helpful, though. It made me think of how to do it.
This is what I did, for anyone who may need the information:
Open Google.com/contacts in your phones browser.
Go to the people/contacts app in your phone.
Menu>Import/Export>Export to Storage (sd)
After exporting, go back to browser.
At the bottom of the left bar of links, hit import.
Choose the file from your external memory.
Import.
Menu (on the webpage, not your phones button)>merge duplicate contacts>merge.
Clean up the rest manually and set your phone to sync to Google contacts.
Every time you make a contact, add it to google instead of phone memory.
Maybe this will help someone else.
Impulse got a Nexus 4 but should I have thought about it first? Everyone keeps saying get an S3 but I think it looks ugly as sin. Anything to know about? Had the Desire HD for two years now and I had no need to upgrade, does everything I want it too, it's just getting a little aged now and the battery cover has started falling off.
I thought it looked ugly until I got it, and it's beautiful, it's a nice refresh from the usual, and everybody else disagrees but it looks sexy in white, (but probably nicer in black)
Plus it makes a very nifty portable music player because you can root it and get an app called Stweaks and raise the output volume, and put universal EQ's onto it ect, combined with expandable storage I offed my iPod instantly
I don't know much about music players but for saying It's a bonus that came with the phone it's really nice for music.

I don't think I'd be able to get past the design honestly, even the slight curves of the Nexus 4 put me off, I really like the look of some of the Lumias and new Xperias though, I'd of probably even got a Lumia if Virgin media had them available on contract, just to try something new, probably shouldn't say that in an Android thread though.
I really liked the look of the S2 over the S3, I don't know why they went super curvy, in-fact I don't know why everything that attempts to be modern ends up looking curvy, although Samsung are doing this a lot with their phones and monitors lately.

I like the idea of sharp, straight edges but something about the S3 is so nice, like I said it's in person, and down to preference in the end.
Don't worry we often talk about lumias and iOS and so on when we run out of Android, or comparing them :v:
The S2 does have the nicer design, but the S3 looks the way it does because Apple would of sued Samsung again, the S3 basically follows Apples guidelines (unequal rounded corners, different height between top and bottom of the phone and so on.)

You're right I would have to see and hold it in person to really give an opinion, I do like the display on it though, the Nexus 4 probably loses a third of an inch because of the software buttons.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who realizes that!
The N4 is still an amazing phone though, and has the advantage of the instant updates and unbastardized Android, so it's a very very good purchase, especially if you're coming from a Desire HD

They need non-standard screen sizes to compensate for those buttons and now they stay in the same place regardless of orientation they can.

I wish they'd never used software buttons, I'm really not fond of the idea of all navigation being on screen, I like having a big ole' home button to press when things go bad

Not sure if I'm reading this right, are you saying they should start making panels slightly longer so the buttons don't take space out of a standard resolution?
I really don't see how the screen space is an issue in the first place. Screens are already wide enough as it is, I have no problem putting some of that surplus to use and getting rid of dedicated buttons dangling outside of screen space. This conversation reminds me of the worries I had when switching from physical buttons to soft buttons, a concern that I quickly forgot about within minutes of using them.
Yeah, I was nervous about not having any physical buttons on my tablet as well. Needless to say, it's no problem.
But I do like the capacitive buttons on my Maxx. And now the search button has a fucking use thanks to jelly bean (it bothered me so much before because I never used it).
I just wish they would ditch the carrier branding on the front. The phone would be a quarter inch shorter if they'd stop wanting to advertise on the front of the damn phone.

No, he's saying they already do that.
PM me for an entry to Ingress beta key, I'm. giving one away.
Is Chrome to Mobile working for anyone? I'm not talking about the extension, but the one that was built into desktop Chrome versions for a while now. A month or two ago it dissapeared and it's not listed in about:flags anymore. The option is there on my phone, but the desktop browser isn't showing any signs of it.

That's exactly what I'm saying. I feel Android isn't getting the best out of available screen space.

update?
both chrome for desktop and android are on their latest (stable) versions.
I can see opened tabs from my desktop on the phone, but I can't send a website to the phone or view the device in that menu that mobrockers posted.
Tried removing the device from the "cloud printers" list, relogging in both desktop chrome and android (wiped data, force closed, etc)...
My S3 shows up in chrome for me
maybe it has to do with cyanogenmod. Who knows, I won't bother fixing it for a month when the N4 is on it's way.
edit: if it's still a problem there, I'll try doing something about it then.

I flashed some ROMs, and now I have four Nexus 4s in chrome. Is there any way to remove them?
