I always wonder. How far can these displays be folded?
i don't see the point in the curved one

i could always use more phone money :v:
I need help with something, on new years eve i was a little drunk to say the least and ended up smashing the screen on my Galaxy S2 (It was in my pocket and I landed on it). I sent it off to O2 for repair which cost me £138, apparently they replaced the screen only.
Now, when I got it back today, the plastic cover that goes around the screen was cracked (and it wasn't before I sent it off), also there's this strange problem where the screen's contrast seems... off. It can't seem to handle bright pages and whatnot. For example I could have the brightness cranked up to max with auto brightness off, and when I go on an all white page like Google for example, the screen goes dull. And to prove that's whats happening as I slowly pull down the notification bar (Which is darker in colour) the screen slowly gets brighter. It defiantly didn't do this before.
Is it faulty or what? I'm sending it back anyway because of the crack in the case, but I was wondering about the screen.
EDIT: Settings > Auto-adjust screen power. I'm a cunt.
Is there a screen protector that you can recommend because I do not want to lose the slippery surface. Preferably one that is easy to apply.
The Spigen one is 12 pounds and has poor reviews.
I really don't know. Nobody I know owns a Nexus 4 because of either the display or the storage. I can tell you my friend with an iPad 4 has an InvisibleSHIELD HD screen protector and I actually didn't notice it until he mentioned how much it costed.
And I'm here with my 20 cent screen protectors laughing at everyone who overpaid.

I'd bet you a Nexus 7 that if you handed me your phone with a 20 cent screen protector on it I'd know right away it had one applied.
Apparently 6 inch phablets seem like a better way to go now because they pack much bigger batteries
That's probably what I would buy once my Galaxy S3 goes poof

That's what the push for larger displays with the exact same resolution has been about. There are circumstances where having a 5.5" device can be really useful, but I remember when the Galaxy S II came out there weren't people complaining that it was too small at 4.3". Bigger screen = bigger battery, that's the underlying reason to have a 4.8" 720p device instead of a 4.5" one.

I like the GS III a lot but my main gripe with smartphones today is that I feel like I have to restrain myself from using it to save the battery. That just sucks. I get 4 hours of continuous usage out of my S3 at most. That's not a lot

Only four? I would have thought it'd be higher than that. My sympathies.
I'm thinking of getting an smartphone and from what I've looked up Android seems to be the obvious choice.
My friend suggested Samsung Galaxy S2, what do you guys think?

It's still a solid device in my opinion, although it is a bit old. You should see how much a Nexus 4 would run you and compare it to the S2's price, since the S2 is EOL as of the 4.1 update.

Can't really go wrong with S2, though in the fast moving world of smartphones, it's getting obsoleted real fast
If you still want something cheap, buy a Nexus 4 straight from Google, or get a higher end smartphone
I'm thinking of getting the Sony Xperia P, anyone tried it before and is it any good?
Anyone?
Heh, Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa is a big middle finger up at Nvidia's 4 + 1 idea. They've done 4 + 4. Using 4 A7 Cores to do a majority of day to day tasks and 4 A15 cores to do anything more intensive. Looks mighty impressive, sort of going to waste on a VM though, would love to see a native OS running on it.

I swear I've seen this technology at every CES for the past 5 years.
2007: Look at this new bendy screen technology it's the future!
2008: And here we have a bendy screen, think of the phone posibilites.
2009: It bends in this direction and this one, imagine wearing this as a watch!?
~2012: Brand new bendy screen technology, look at it bend, but what should we do with it?
Just make a damn product with it already.
Who cares if it bends, I want to know if it'll blend!

big.LITTLE is pretty necessary when A15 sucks for efficiency. It's not even designed for mobile devices, it's meant for ARM servers. Also the max TDP of Exynos 5250 is 8W, can't wait to see how much juice this thing takes. Then when Intel delivers an 8W Haswell chip things will get really interesting.

By being obsoleted, would I be missing out greatly?
on the new stuff I mean
and old stuff being updated

The good thing about the S3 is that you can either get an extended battery (if you like having an ugly back), or just buy more stock batteries and rotate them.

Um yah, it's pretty much EOL. Rule of thumb, an Android device will at best get 18 months of updates and then it gets dropped.
[editline]10th January 2013[/editline]
But you'll still be able to run new apps and stuff, you just won't get new Android features from 4.2 and above without custom ROMs and such.

Yes.
Wireless Wave tried to get me to buy an S2 and I was like "fuck that". I originally needed a deposit to get an S3 (wtf mate?), but I said I would walk away if I couldn't get one. S2 was off the table for me. So they finally pulled some strings and got me an S3 without a deposit.

And that's why I only ever go to Rogers, Bell, and Telus corporate stores. Fuck cellular dealers.

Oh hey does that mean you retired the HTC Raider?
So I got my Sony LiveView smartwatch. It seems Sony released an update to the phone app which fixes pretty much every software issue it had, and I'm pretty happy because there's a plugin for PowerAmp and other players so it shows Album art as well as song title/album. Battery life I can't comment on yet but it's being on for over 24 hours and it's still showing full battery. Oh, and it works on CM10.1.
Can't fault it for £16.
so i was browsing XDA forums...and saw this as a signature
Got any hairlines on the back yet? I'm babying the thing and these scratches appear out of thin air, I've had my Desire HD for 2-3 years and have only a couple of hairlines on the surface.
Apparently it's very thin Gorilla glass on the back making it susceptible to cracking and whatnot, but can thin glass make it susceptible to scratching too?
I don't have any scratches on mine or maybe I haven't looked hard enough to find them and I've had it since the middle of November.
I bought the official LG bumper because I'm a sucker for official accessories.. it's nice. It lifts up enough to stop it sliding off of flat surfaces andI can actually hear audio when it's down flat. AMAZING!
Oh hey does that mean you retired the HTC Raider?
Yeah. I haven't decided what to do with it yet, so it's a backup phone for now. But I just installed CM10 on it for shits and giggles, because a 90% stable build came out just recently.
