I'd bet you a Nexus 7 that if you handed me your phone with a 20 cent screen protector on it I'd know right away it had one applied.
You probably would because it's cut so it doesn't block the front facing camera, which I never use and the light sensor. I wanted it to cover the whole thing and that cut part is annoying but whatever.
So someone said to get the Galaxy S II or Nexus 4 instead of S III or Note II, what's FP's opinion on SIII and Note II?

GS2 is outdated and only worth it if you can get it real cheap.
Nexus 4 is great if you want something to stay updated for more than a year, and not have to wait 6 months for that update to arrive.
S3 is aging but still solid, better build quality than the Nexus 4 but not as fast and won't be supported for as long.
Note 2 is good if you want the huge screen, but it can be expensive and also won't last as long as the Nexus 4 in terms of software updates.

Uh yah that's not right. It hasn't even been out for a year, it'll get updates for ~18 months as all Galaxy S flagships have.

All of them are good phones, the S2 is just the older version of the S3. The Note 2 is a fast, huge monster. The Nexus 4 is well, hard to get, the S3 is good.

Whoops, I was thinking about your earlier post about the GS2, fixing now.

Yah that makes more sense. The S2 is pretty much EOL, might not even get 4.2.
Hey you know the app that made your phone "faster" is anyone still using it? I mean I'm still using it because it forces the CPU to be running on high every time which makes everything load so much faster but there must be a different, safer app? Like to keep the CPU on high the entire time, except on sleep? I don't care about battery, this would be my definition of overclocking right now since I can't actually overclock at all.
The only Spigen protector for the N4 is the Steinheil dual and it has appauling reviews, something is surely wrong, it also doesn't go edge to edge.
Apparently it also disables the proximity sensor.
The price of a phone with glass with a soft ending edge is that it has to be curved, so it can't be edge to edge. The prox sensor issue has been resolved, judging by the reviews.
I know they did it for the GS3, but it's incredibly hard to do.
[editline]10th January 2013[/editline]
And of course you can tell screen protector from glass. The only real way to get around this is if the protector is coated at the surface to have an oleophobic coating and possibly some other crap to try and get it to feel like GG2, which all flies out the window once you wear through it anyways.

Just change your GPU governor to one that gives maximum performance. I know I used setCPU back in like the Froyo days on my i9000 to keep it running at 800MHz-1GHz.
So I'm getting massive battery drain from "Cell Standby".
I used to get 80% battery when I went from school all the way to 4th period with mild use, but now it's down to around 60%.
I installed BetterBatteryStats, but I don't know where it dumps.

I was speaking solely regarding noticing it visually.
In its continued quest to defy physics, the Nexus 4 drains battery faster when "charging" over USB than it does while idling unplugged.

Looking back at this, I realized there's something I don't understand here: what does it mean for the phone to be "awake"? On my Triumph I think it was always awake when the screen was on, so I figured it just meant the CPU was in anything other than its lowest power state and taking care of some task, but there are entire periods of screen on in this graph where it didn't ever seem to become "awake."
I swear I've seen this technology at every CES for the past 5 years.
2007: Look at this new bendy screen technology it's the future!
2008: And here we have a bendy screen, think of the phone posibilites.
2009: It bends in this direction and this one, imagine wearing this as a watch!?
~2012: Brand new bendy screen technology, look at it bend, but what should we do with it?
Just make a damn product with it already.
Um... They already prototyped a phone with it. It's at CES. The screen bends around the sides and displays notifications, a stock market ticker, that kinda thing, along the side of the device.

I would assume that sleeping meant that all cores other than CPU0 go to sleep, and CPU0 goes to lowest power state available.
You can see cores turning on and off with dmesg.
You can cycle a core from online to offline and then back online in like under 200ms if I remember correctly, so I wouldn't be surprised if the phones was "sleeping" while being used, it's fairly trivial to bring cores back online when you need the power.
So I used a cpu governor and forced it to always stay at 1Ghz (max) and it seems like everything is slower...
also Firefox beta updated
So I got my Sony LiveView smartwatch. It seems Sony released an update to the phone app which fixes pretty much every software issue it had, and I'm pretty happy because there's a plugin for PowerAmp and other players so it shows Album art as well as song title/album. Battery life I can't comment on yet but it's being on for over 24 hours and it's still showing full battery. Oh, and it works on CM10.1.
Can't fault it for £16.
How's the connectivity? A few Amazon reviews say that it drops signal with a phone frequently.
I've always wanted a smartwatch and even considered dropping over $100 for the motoactv. For $23 this is a steal deal.
I'll pick up the smart watch if I see them at my local Sony store. looks cool and nice.
just got my jot pro and i think im in love.

I think LG set the record for the shortest device lifetime ever, if they and Google really reveal the new Nexus next month (which I highly doubt).

So this is why the Nexus 4 shaped up to be a zero effort device from pretty much everyone involved.
you have to be fucking KIDDING ME
I just got a galaxy proclaim on straight talk a month ago, My first android phone. I fucking love it.
Sadly, the only root I can find for it also makes the wireless AND the 3g not work.
honestly i'm going to take that article with a grain of salt seeing as it's the ONLY one on this and it says "rumor"
yeah it's definitely not true, all of it is rumors that the article wants to stir up and spread around
