EXYNOS 5 OCTA USES A SGX544MP3, WHAT IS THIS?!?!! http://www.anandtech.com/show/6654/samsungs-exynos-5-octa-powered-by-powervr-sgx-544mp3-not-arms-mali
Pretty awesome for an Android phone, although it won't mean much if Apple's next SoC ships with a PowerVR Rogue chip. Overall the Exynos 5 'octa' is a complete waste because it'll have a TDP of like 12-18W(TDP of Exynos 5250 is 8W) when the CPU and GPU are in use, and by that point you should just put in a 10W Ivy Bridge or Haswell part.

MIPS isn't either. It's all ARM.
For anyone with a Nexus 4 who really wants to improve their display, the faux kernel and his app have a solution. Some people got phones with a high color temperature and some got ones with a low temperature, but either way, someone on XDA started a thread and a spreadsheet for sharing calibrations. Here's the app: Faux kernel thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008222 Calibrations thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039607 Calibrations doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoDp2qRui0u0dGE4T2gtSDBTRHVFSldPS2RrX1Rya0E Mine was a bit blue so I applied an average of the two sets of values by user "idividebyzero" and I was actually stunned by how much better it looked. Colors are more balanced and a LOT more saturated, no more "washed out" look at all.
Is this better over the Nexus 4 Display Control by Franco? What are the differences?
Is this better over the Nexus 4 Display Control by Franco? What are the differences?
With this one you can adjust Gamma amp aswell as colour balance, it can also adjust other things aswell.
Quick control styled Navbar
Nifty. Man I want to be rid of this Atrix. Entry level Nexus 4 back in stock plz.
Quick control styled Navbar
im going to assume this needs root but this is something am certainly getting when i finally get my nexus 4. With that, does rooting void your warranty on the nexus 4? or just unlocking the boot loader
Quick control styled Navbar
Transparent navbar + statusbar! How'd you get it on the N4? I'll save it for when LG actually finally makes another device.
Is this better over the Nexus 4 Display Control by Franco? What are the differences?
Franco's app only lets you turn down the brightness of each channel, this has that and also two gamma controls which is what you really need to calibrate the colors so they they're balanced at all luminance levels, something you can't do with channel brightness sliders alone.
Transparent navbar + statusbar! How'd you get it on the N4? Also the pie menu thing is also a feature that's not out yet.

If you could just eyeball it, if it actually worked that way companies like Datacolor and Displaymate wouldn't exist. I'm sure it's a huge improvement, but no app will give what you need to actually balance it out right. [editline]14th January 2013[/editline] That all being said, I really need to give this app to my friend who has a Nexus 4 because that display is fucking horrible. It'd be nice if Datacolor's Spyder worked with Android phones. It works with the iPhone and the iPad although it's really only needed there to lower the white temperature a bit.
Alright, so my asus TF101 dock battery will not charge at all. I'm using the dual battery widget and it's always saying the dock is at 0%. I've rebooted, cold booted, (with the dock in the tablet), and let the dock charge over night to no avail. Please help.

If that doesn't work, you could try those steps you did again. If none of that works, you may just want to try and get a replacement. ASUS has a 1 yr warranty on their products, but you may be over that.
Woah, I just tried BTController, and I must admit, I'm amazed. Nexus 7 + my old trusty Wildfire S as controller + a game of Tekken 3. If only there weren't any lag because of bluetooth connection.

Sure every screen is different and the different batches will have different issues, but it's easy enough to go through the list and try out different ones until you find one that works best (values shared by someone whose screen had the same initial calibration as yours), and eyeball it after that if it still doesn't match your tastes. [editline]14th January 2013[/editline] But yeah a lot of people are saying they still can't quite get it balanced, though at least you can get rid of the washed out look - I'm not terribly picky, it is nice to have that gone. [editline]a[/editline] Looks like Protocol's having another bad day

Good thing too. My yellow-whites were kind of annoying. At least white looks like white now compared to my computer monitor or Nexus 7.
If you look at that gdoc, you'll see people are using display testers to do the best they can with the screen.
Except they seem like bullshit, since people claiming they used a Datacolor pro like the one on there are LYING because it doesn't support Android. Most of them look like people eyeballing it, and sometimes not even with very good comparisons like one using the iPad Mini as a base for color.
Yes because eyeballing it into your liking will be perfect for everyone else in the world. Uh no.
Yes because eyeballing it into your liking will be perfect for everyone else in the world. Uh no.
What is this supposed to be responding to? Eyeballing any display or projector to get the colors right is always going to be a waste of time. At best you'll just make the display look less washed out, which is what it looks like people are doing, except they're deluded and think they're getting it to the levels of the One X or iPhone 5.
well it's some kinda effort maybe it'll attract people that actually have a clue about what they're doing
well it's some kinda effort maybe it'll attract people that actually have a clue about what they're doing
Oh I'd imagine the displays look a lot better. But it's very annoying to see people like on that spreadsheet who think they're magical display scientists and they can get their display absolutely perfect by eyeballing it, it's fucking ridiculous. Or even worse, people who lie and say they actually calibrated it, when the tool they listed only works on projectors, monitors, and iDevices.
Guys, will pebble keep time without being connected? Like, if I get it, can I have a smart action turn off my Bluetooth when my battery is under 30 percent and Pebble still keep time? This is a deal breaker for me.
Nexus 5? Nexus 7.7? http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-5-nexus-7-7-made-by-lg-for-google-io-specs-features-and-prices-leaked-already-147343/ Nexus 5 specs are freaking hot but does anyone else feel that 5" is way too big for a phone? I like to use one hand most of the time.

I need to shift my hand to touch things on the left side of the screen.
I can easily touch the left side, it's just the top my thumb struggles to reach but that's a trade off which I'm okay with.
Well just for comparison(assuming my math is right). A 1920x1080 Nexus 5 at 5" diagonal would be 4.36" tall and 2.45" wide. The Nexus 4 is about 4.03" tall and 2.43" wide, just barely any different with trying to reach across the display for something like one handed typing.
Nexus 5? Nexus 7.7? Needs at least 24-32GB internal storage and it isn't hard to do.
