Wow. On paper the Nexus 5 seems to have some pretty awesome specs but why the fuck is it still 8/16GB? That standard was set about 3-4 years ago. Needs at least 24-32GB internal storage and it isn't hard to do.
Yah it was about five years ago in February with the iPhone when it became either 8GB or 16GB.

I mean it's not like they can't OFFER it. Charge me more, that's fine, but give me the option of going above 16GB.

Nexus 5 specs are freaking hot but does anyone else feel that 5" is way too big for a phone? I like to use one hand most of the time.
5" is way too big for me to use one handed, I use my 4.65" Gnex two-handed most of the time already.
I finally rooted my RAZR maxx and got a good /lte/cdma/gsm ROM. It can be unstable and a battery hog at times though...

Thing is, Google don't really give a shit. They want it to be as cheap as possible so more people use their services. And limiting space also makes you use their services.

Shame really but that's likely the reason.

Well that's sort of why they do a lot of things regarding Android. It's like when people ask for a move to native code or for app devs to be forced to follow design guidelines. Google doesn't give a fuck, it doesn't benefit them at all to do those things. As long as market share continues to rise, that's what matters.
Pretty awesome for an Android phone, although it won't mean much if Apple's next SoC ships with a PowerVR Rogue chip. Overall the Exynos 5 'octa' is a complete waste because it'll have a TDP of like 12-18W(TDP of Exynos 5250 is 8W) when the CPU and GPU are in use, and by that point you should just put in a 10W Ivy Bridge or Haswell part.
The theory is that the Cortex A15s are only touched when some serious computing muscle is needed, and they are power gated as quickly as possible to keep power in check. Although the A7s are actually behind the Cortex A8 in IPC, that's the theory. Most likely the SoC will be self-limited to 4W.
fuck LG. This Nexus has been sooooo problematic.
Just go to Moto already like we all know you're going to.
I'd take a Nexus with Moto's build quality any day of the week.

Why not try the stock Moto jelly bean for the razr? Paired with nova (or some other launcher, though the stock launcher isn't bad) is really not bad.

Unless you're not on Verizon cdma...
Most people can't one hand phones larger than 4-ish inches anyways.

I must have unusually large hands. I normally text one handed on my Galaxy Nexus. :v:

I can one-hand the GS3/Droid DNA, I just shuffle my hand around. The Note 2 is fucking impossible though, just too wide.

Thank god LG responded, hopefully the bullshit ends now.
I have small hands so I had to fumble around even with my 4.1" Triumph, though now I've gotten good at moving the phone around with my fingers below it and quickly getting to what I need to with my thumb, so even though the upgrade to the 4.7" Nexus 4 was pretty big, I was already used to not having simultaneous access to the entire screen.
nexus 4 is coming out in russia

Google just booked off the money for my Nexus 4. I hope it comes soon.

A little more expensive than here in Czech Republic, but even then, for that price it's still the best Android phone you can get.
no it's not
installed windows 8 over linux, much better
~suck my dick~

That statement speaks very poorly of the Android phone market.

I think you're in the wrong thread.
Well obviously prices depend on the market, but for example, the local price of an S3 is about $700, while the Nexus 4 is $657.
Want a nexus 4 without having to buy a nexus 4?
Get an Optimus G and hack that shit.
[editline]15th January 2013[/editline]
In seriousness, it's a rough hack. But with further development, this could be a great software hack.
Imagine a kernel or ROM that would be or let you flash the official Google firmware, but use stuff like the sd slot and LTE.
I struggle to reach the top of my Xperia V 4.3" :v:
Good thing the power button is on the right side on the newer android phones :)
I already know this is bound to be late, but somebody might find it useful. I'm currently using it to access my device whilst on Linux

Ok, i know this is not the Linux thread, but I'm having so much trouble with my laptop and I trust you guys.
For some reason, the last Windows 7 update really did a number on my laptop. It will work for about 20 minutes, then freeze up completely. I cleaned up the registry with ccleaner and ran malware scans, but I'm coming up empty and running out of options.
I'm considering installing Linux over windows (I have all my data backed up on an external drive, so data loss isn't a problem) and i need to know a few things.
1) which distribution should I get? I'm a lifelong windows/android guy and i'm not good with command prompts and the like. I'm a pleb and a menu/search lover. Awful at remembering shortcuts and the common Linux commands.
2) how well will my current files work with Linux? I need to be able to run a full-featured office suite (is there one?) and use my current files.
3) to make this android related, I'd like it to be fairly compatible with my Maxx.
[editline]15th January 2013[/editline]
Your help would be much appreciated.
Also, i would clean install windows, but there was no disc with my computer. I'm considering buying one, but i still have the above questions.

I have also just moved from Windows to Linux.
(1) As far as I know, the general consensus is to start with Ubuntu, as it is the most user friendly.
(2) Libre Office comes with Ubuntu, and can open Microsoft Office files. I personally prefer it as if is more lightweight.
(3) My above post. ^
I'm worried about compatibility because I still have a desktop (win 7) and i shuttle files back and forth between the two machines with Dropbox. School projects and the like. Just wanted that to be clear.

Well, apart from Office files, what else are you worrying about? I found myself searching for reasons to get Windows 8/7 again, but apart from Games, and the fact I am far too used to Photoshop to use Gimp (Personally it feels sluggish and weird), I keep falling short.

Thanks :)
I tried to run Ubuntu, and found it difficult. Getting programs and installing them (all the cmd console stuff) was hard for me. Maybe I'm just not using the right resources. Any suggestions.
