Thanks :)
I tried to run Ubuntu, and found it difficult. Getting programs and installing them (all the cmd console stuff) was hard for me. Maybe I'm just not using the right resources. Any suggestions.
There is a software store in Ubuntu so you don't even have to use the terminal, and it isn't hard typing "sudo apt-get install gimp" for example. Not to mention I google search every command I need.
Well, apart from Office files, what else are you worrying about? I found myself searching for reasons to get Windows 8/7 again, but apart from Games, and the fact I am far too used to Photoshop to use Gimp (Personally it feels sluggish and weird), I keep falling short.
That's really it. I use PS and stuff on my desktop, so that's not a big deal.

Excellent :)
I may just install ubuntu then. Thanks :brofist:
I have also just moved from Windows to Linux.
(1) As far as I know, the general consensus is to start with Ubuntu, as it is the most user friendly.
(2) Libre Office comes with Ubuntu, and can open Microsoft Office files. I personally prefer it as if is more lightweight.
(3) My above post. ^
Seconded on Ubuntu. Plus, since its so commonly used and documented, if you ever run into issues, I can guarantee that you can type "ubuntu taskbar missing" and I'm sure with a bit of digging you can find a solution that works for you.
About the command prompt thing, for day to day use, you will be fine. You should never need the command prompt if all you do is browse the internet, play games, etc.
However, if shit goes south, you will inevitably need the command line. And sometimes, installing a feature you want requires using the terminal. I would recommend looking up something on the basics of using the Terminal. Read about how to navigate the file system (if you have used the Windows command prompt, you will find they are REALLY similar in that respect cd = cd, ls = dir, etc.), what sudo is/does, and such. That way if you need to, you're not totally lost. Now, you don't need to right off the bat, since you're going to already be learning a new UI. Just ease into it once you're comfortable with using the Ubuntu GUI. I just recommend it personally. You don't need to be a master, just enough that its not totally foreign when your reading steps on troubleshooting something and your not like "wtf what am I doing".
New Nexus 4 is scratchless.

Awesome. I've just always been kinda intimidated by the terminal. But I also thought I needed to know every command.

Not really. Most commands are pretty specific in their use, and many of them I'm sure you will never use...unless you have a use for them. Like I said, most of the time, the UI will suffice. For me, its always been you learn them as you go. Google is pretty much your best friend here.
You can learn most cli commands you'll need in day to day use in two days or so.

I.E. LG not stopping production. [del]Couldn't find a source apart from a german one and the original Korean one.[/del]
Well obviously prices depend on the market, but for example, the local price of an S3 is about $700, while the Nexus 4 is $657.
Does that mean an iPhone would be like $1000 in that sort of place?
cheapest iphone 5 is 1126$ here
Does that mean an iPhone would be like $1000 in that sort of place?
iPhone 5 16GB Black: $940.55
(all these prices are for fully unlocked devices with no carrier restrictions or data plans or anything. just the hardware)
That's not even the monthly salary of most people in here.
Mother of god, and I thought Canadian prices/contracts were bs
Anybody know a cheap place for me to buy a screen and chrome bevel replacement for my nexus 4? I dropped it out of my pocket while looking for my keys. The screen is fine other than a few scratches.I should seriously start looking after my phones, you should see my old iPhone.
[editline]15th January 2013[/editline]
Damage to my old iPhone. It's got other terrible condition parts, I thought this was the worst.

okay so my question about why higher clock rating makes my phone slower is still around
cheapest iphone 5 is 1126$ here
sounds pretty standard for an Apple device

Anyone got the facepunch app on their HTC One X working?
Can't seem to get mine to work :(

For some reason, on a lot of devices, logging into your account breaks the app. So if you're logged in and it's doing this, uninstall the app then reinstall it and use it just as a face punch browser.
Use this.

I thought phone prices were bad in Moscow
Then I moved here
"Sure this phone will be $300, you'll just have to pay $60 per month until the day you die. If you want a new phone you will have to pay $9000 to cancel your current contract"
So, can I do the whole "replace windows" when i install ubuntu, or will that fuck up my booting and shit?

You can replace windows with ubuntu no problem.

It's not that bad. Hell I know people who signed on with the iPhone 5 at launch and wanted out a month later, and selling the phone pretty much paid for the cancellation fee and almost all of the price of the phone subsidized.

That's what my brother did, unlocking the phone increased the price $200-300 too.
I already know this is bound to be late, but somebody might find it useful. I'm currently using it to access my device whilst on Linux

It doesn't work though.
"Failed to connect. Make sure your device is connected to a same WiFi network."
Yeah, that can't work for me. I'm limited to 2 devices on my internet account with the university. I already have my xbox and my tablet on it.
Is there an app for Android that allows one to plot a graph, specifically by defining the x,y coordinates of points then connecting them with a line of best fit? Only found things that do lines with mathematical functions, which doesn't help me much.
