walking up to random strangers and telling them that their display settings are bad
sounds perfectly normal

I do that :c
I'm looking for an Android phone for my dad for like 200-300€. Currently I'm looking at the HTC One V, Galaxy S Advance, Xperia P and Galaxy S III Mini with the Xperia P as my favorite. Are there any other mid-range phones I should look into and are there any reasons why I shouldn't get him the Xperia P?
SwiftKey doesn't support Note 2 S Pen. :-(
s3 mini seems the best

actually no get the xperia
man whenever i see a galaxy whatever phone the screen is so bright and green
i didn't notice that when i owned a galaxy note, now i'm back to noticing it
My mum's S2 screen has a greenish/yellow tint to it and is much darker on full brightness than my S1. Is there anything like Voodoo Color you can get for the S2 because it looks pretty donkey dick on stock compared to a Voodoo'd S1
I'm not convinced that the 15 additional pixels I get is worth it.
The app would turn a 4.4" display into a 4.7" one for media which is enough difference to matter, to me anyway, I keep pressing my display buttons accidentally too.
So those Nexus 5 rumours weren't completely wrong right? It seems the new Optimus G Pro is near identical to what the 'Nexus 5' was going to be (5" 1080p display, 3000mAh battery, higher clocked CPU).

Settings > Display > Screen mode.
Try whichever color you like best, I kind of liked standard (I think).
Hey guys, can't hear lyrics from music on my phone, same story with different headphones and the speakers, any idea whats causing this
So, does anyone know

Yeah I did that. Seemed to slightly improve the gamma and actually give a contrast range instead of black and 255 colour

Some of my friends have the S3 Mini, it's not bad but there isn't 720p video recording on that 5MP camera (and yet mine does). The Xperia P has the best camera out of those phones with 1080p video but doesn't have a microSD card slot so you're stuck within the 13GB of usable space which isn't too bad if 13GB is enough for you.

Those aren't going to fix any color shift though. The display is still set to NTSC.
We are inching very close to the end of this thread version. 29 posts until this gets closed. The age of this version is slightly more than 4 months. Yay.

What the fuck. Even the S1 has full 720p recording. That is incredibly backwards Samsung
GSMarena says the mini does 720p30.
GSMarena says the mini does 720p30.
Hm, that's odd. Last time I was playing with one (this week) it didn't have a 720p setting what so ever. Only 640x480...
Checked the specs off Samsungs UK website and it says
HD (720p) Video Playback available
Recording up to 30fps
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/smartphones/android/GT-I8190RWABTU-spec
That Video Playback available is misleading. Checking the GSMArena video compare tool, it looks about the same. http://www.gsmarena.com/vidcmp.php3?idType=1&idPhone1=5033&idPhone2=4238&idPhone3=3621
I'm guessing I'm wrong then
[editline]18th January 2013[/editline]
Edit: Yes I am indeed wrong, it's 720p video judging by the amount of 720p video tests such as this one:

I was wrong, it has 720p video. Either way the Xperia P has 1080p video and a really nice sensor.

They were taking about the greenish look, which can be sort of fixed by changing the display mode.

Not really. It's always there on Samsung's OLED phones regardless of the screen mode. I've used them all on all of their phones(excluding ones that never had it like the i9000).

Not sure if it is because of the recorded bitrate but that 1080p video looks the same as the 720p

For me it doesn't, in 1080p the grass is much sharper. You can also see that the file size is larger with 1080p as to 720p.

Completely reliable instrument for measuring video quality
Completely reliable instrument for measuring video quality
Well my eyes say 1080p looks better than 720p
It is better, that's certain. Just not by that much

It's not bad, you can also switch phones to test.
So I decided to fuck the warranty and ran Erkel to root my 201
Now that I'm in the Rooted master race, what should I get to complete the experience
Already using Sixaxis and Titanium
change your hostname to something other than android-193784938i6
that's the reason I rooted in the first place
Has anyone ever used Songbird? It's like iTunes... but without the bloat. I've been using it for a week with my GS3 and it works great.
Only issue I had is that it took 10 minutes to convert 40 M4As to MP3 :v:

Why convert the audio files from M4A to MP3? That's like downloading an image and then saving it again as a JPG. All you are doing is making them lower quality (unless they were mega bitrate to begin with)

It said that the device wouldn't be able to play it or something.

What device? Your S3?
Most devices play M4A, and your smartphone definitely will.
Also, M4A is the successor to MP3 and is superior. You can have a 92Kbps M4A file sound like a 320Kbps MP3. (depending on content)
