I feel so cheated that my version of the One X is a dual core because I live in the United States. :saddowns:
Still, it's a pretty nice phone for the $99.99 price tag, especially compared to the other phones AT&T offers sub-$100.
The One X+ is the quad core version.
Oh don't get me wrong, it's still a great phone and I love it, I just feel cheated that if I lived somewhere else I'd get better for the same price.
It wouldn't really be "better", since LTE wouldn't work in the US with that quad-core chipset.
am I the only one who doesn't understand half the tech shit you guys discuss

Yes.

Google is a really useful tool, you should check it out
It wouldn't really be "better", since LTE wouldn't work in the US with that quad-core chipset.
Hence me feeling cheated that the U.S. doesn't support it :v:
[editline].[/editline]
I'd probably be fine with slower data speeds for the Quad Core, but paying $400 for an S3 was just too much for the trade off for me. AT&T wouldn't offer a discount on it.

Wasn't available at the time unfortunately.

Except the S3 in the US uses an identical dual core CPU.

Well, bloody good thing I didn't bother then!
Well, bloody good thing I didn't bother then!
You know that overall since apps aren't very multithreaded your One XL is probably faster in many situations than the Tegra 3 One X right? Quad cores are such a waste of battery life with very little if any real world performance increase over more advanced dual core chips. That's all irrelevant anyway because we're at a point where software optimisation is the issue. The Apple A6 isn't even remotely twice as fast as the Snapdragon S4 dual, but it's twice as fast in browser benchmarks vs the Galaxy S III with the Snapdragon. All this computational power that is only there to mask software that isn't very good at taking advantage of the hardware its given. Android increases in software optimisation will be what help performance, not so much increasing hardware capabilities.

Seems to be working fine with the One X+, it's not a hardware issue. Companies haven't been doing Tegra 3 + LTE because they'd have to buy another radio which would both cost them more, and likely consume more power than the integrated one on the Snapdragon S4 dual.
In comparison to the international GS3 it has the same amount of RAM so that point would be moot in that comparison but otherwise with the GS3 LTE and Note 2 the One X+ is obviously worse.
Sorry I didn't respond to this properly. It is NOT a moot point, because Sense uses an obscene amount of RAM, much more than Nature UX. That's why I noted how with 1GB of physical RAM, it has as much usable RAM as an old 512MB device.

I posted that yesterday. It's pretty interesting, but if Google has to compete with a smaller iPad in the $250-300 range I wonder what it'll be priced at. Could be possible that the 16GB would be set at $199 and the 32GB at $249, not sure what would happen to the 8GB if that happened.
I don't like that back texture, although the design is kind of interesting. If I mixed together a Samsung Focus and a Galaxy Nexus, that's what it'd end up like.
No SD card slot and physical keyboard? no deal.
the s3's resolution is a cool upgrade for my home screen, woop woop
I would love a refreshed Nexus S.
Rubber back, 4" 720p non-pentile screen, 32GB of storage, etc.
Won't work if it's OLED. People who complain about PenTile never seem to be people who understand why it's there.
Apparently this is the LG Nexus. Damnit, another Nexus I will be skipping.
Isn't the Nexus program going to open to most OEMs though ?
Because that would mean there's going to be multiple Nexus phones, hopefully with various designs
I hope one of them keeps the curved screen, it feels so good to hold and type on
I'm not particularly fond of OLED anyway, no manufacturer ever calibrates the screen properly.
I've got to dick around in Voodoo Colours to stop it looking yellow.
Yah well that's because Samsung's marketing is aimed at people who don't know what good displays look like, they use the lack of calibration and gaudy colours as marketing points. So yah if it was a 4" 1280x720 IPS display(which does indeed exist, Toshiba and LG make em) that'd be nice. I don't like these giant phones, going from 4.5" at 720p to 4.8" at 720p doesn't make the experience any better, it just lets them hide a bigger battery.

Oh man and guess what's so special about it, but no blog is thinking about it when they report 2560x1600.
http://www.nouvoyance.com/news-051311.html
It'll probably be this RGBW display! Enjoy 2560x1600 as long as you're just viewing black and white, otherwise you have half the RGB triplets of a typical WQXGA panel.

I'm gonna need more photos before I make a decision, but so far I actually really like how it looks. I just hope the build quality will be excellent.

so the luma is full res, while the chroma is half?
I guess you probably wouldn't see the disadvantages of the display when watching a movie, since it's how most video codecs operate already

Well I've found that RGBG OLED displays are noticably grainier than RGB counterparts during video playback, even if the RGB one is larger with the same resolution such as the Lumia 800 vs 900 or the Galaxy S vs the S II. I don't know if that would apply to an RGBW display, but I know the qHD one on the Moto Atrix was awful in the UI.

Nexus One was nice for its time.
HTC makes me think of broken devices and poor customer support...
lets be honest that looks bad
the texture is straight outta some hookers underwear
oh ffs Gonzales, how am I supposed to look at the LG Nexus photos now?
Anyway, the back texture is a good idea, but I think it should be tweaked a little to look more like the Nexus Revamped Live Wallpaper. Keep the colored pixels with minimum color, but still distinguishable from the grey ones.
Also, I hope they keep the Nexus phone displays slightly curved.
Anyone got a clue of when the Nordic S3 JB comes out?
