how the fuck do i get myself off that
At least you're linked to something good, in the TF2 section I'm linked to dragon dildos.
lmao pics good lol no i honestly don't even know why i bother reading that place - it's just shit i already saw on reddit
LMAO pics is about as bad as reddit read: you are a massive idiot if you browse either of those for more than 5 minutes a week.
LMAO pics is about as bad as reddit read: you are a massive idiot if you browse either of those for more than 5 minutes a week.
reddit is as bad as you make it you can unsubscribe from the dumb shit
Ezhik, you so popularhhhh [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/5wIJs.jpg[/thumb]
What's the title font? Only thing I gave a shit about.
why are we even talking about this in the android thread
What's the title font? Only thing I gave a shit about.
Looks like System.
is there anything bad about the HTC raider?
What are your choices? The Raider seems not that bad, but Snapdragon S3 isn't exactly the best CPU these days.
is there anything bad about the HTC raider?
It's absolutely awful and the day Bell stopped selling it was a step forward for mankind. Well OK it wasn't that bad, but there were so many better alternatives at the time which are still better now. The Raider was from the Galaxy S II era and it failed to make a dent in Samsung's sales. The only better factors are the screen and the addition of LTE, although LTE has the battery life tradeoff. [editline]17th September 2012[/editline]
What are your choices? Is there an estimate on when the HTC One X will start getting jellybean yet?
It's bad. The S3 is bad, the S3 plus HTC Sense 3.x is very very bad.
Well, I can get it used for pretty cheap, it's a hell of a lot better than my current Snapdragon S1 phone, and the owner actually installed an AOSP ROM. I tested it and it's very smooth. I was just wondering about any other caveats besides the general performance.
I've got an original HTC Wildfire with sense, I know how slow it is Ever seen a phone that locks up for 10 seconds when trying to answer a call, but keeps fucking ringing?
I have a wildfire too and it's awfully slow, I agree, however, my one x never freezes or locks up it's smooth
I have a wildfire too and it's awfully slow, I agree, however, my one x never freezes or locks up it's smooth
Smooth isn't a constant term, it has no real defined meaning. I find the One X to be irritating to use, honestly only the Galaxy S III/Galaxy Nexus w/4.1.1 are phones I find satisfactory. And they're still not at the level of WP/iOS. [editline]17th September 2012[/editline] Oh and as for it never "freezing", I assuming you mean a stutter where it stops for a moment. Go into the Play Store, click on Apps, then side-scroll to Top Paid or Top Free and then scroll vertically. There you go, you just noticed your first stutter, or if you didn't you may want to visit an optician. It probably has happened a lot but you haven't noticed it because it hasn't been pointed out in a specific circumstance. Try it out in the Google+ app too. This is just one example and it occurs in pretty much any app where you can scroll vertically while it tries to fetch network data at the same time. Why? Because whenever a lazy loading operation needs to perform a network operation, the UI thread is blocked for a moment.
Crap, I can't turn of the gesture/pin/password/patern lock, the none/slie/face unlock is greyed out ue to credentials, or administrator or some other setting. Help? All I've installed that might make this happen is Ceberus... Maybe that's causing all of this?
Cannot unhear. But that last part reminds me: do any other HTC users here know of any good case brands?
Diztronic and Cruzerlite are both pretty good for TPU, HTC themselves also make some pretty okay cases depending upon materials used. [editline]17th September 2012[/editline]
Is there an estimate on when the HTC One X will start getting jellybean yet?
Leaks have already happened, people are trying to get it all together. A fully finished JB ROM released by HTC will probably take a while though, it's kind of weird that it does even though they used to be one of the fastest to update.
So android and me is reporting on a 1080p 5" HTC device at 480ppi. They obviously failed math because it would be 441ppi unless it's something strange like 2143x1080. Some company called Oppo just announced a 5" 1920x1080 device. Looks like Android tablets are barely going to be outpacing phones when it comes to resolution, at least until we get something like 2560x1600.
Spoke too soon, Optimus G is yet another device to be crossed off the list. Reason: no microSD.
Spoke too soon, Optimus G is yet another device to be crossed off the list. Reason: no microSD.
That seems to be a trend now, except these other companies don't offer higher storage capacities like Samsung and Apple do, and hell, Samsung has higher capacity offerings AND a microSD slot.
So there's a patch out there that can disable CPU rendering for Adreno 200 series devices, with significant results in Gingerbread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877183 I flashed it on my Adreno 205 Triumph (along with the build.prop edits) and there's no doubt been a boost in the smoothness department, not that it was a problem before. I also found an app called SysTune that lets you renice (prioritize) your processes, and that also increased responsiveness when applied to my launcher (I set it to -10): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.sci.systune
Is there ever a post by you that isn't talking about screens or UI smoothness? :v:
What else is there to talk about currently? Until we see A15 chips Android doesn't have the internal spec advantage anymore, but if you've got 1920x1080 panels on phones you've got the screen advantage. [editline]18th September 2012[/editline] As for UI smoothness, I really don't bring it up unless somebody else makes a claim about it that doesn't sit well with reality. It's usually in response to someone else. But yah with screens, I just care a ton about a good screen. You'll be looking at the screen the entire time you use your phone, might as well make sure it's a good one. [editline]18th September 2012[/editline] Oh here's something. That Exynos + LTE Galaxy S III in Europe comes with 4.1.1 out of the box. Lucky guys.
Is there ever a post by you that isn't talking about screens or UI smoothness? :v:
Well, screens are basically the big thing in Android OEMs right now, after a few years of basically getting by with shit ones. Android is finally also focusing on UI fluidity, which is great. In-cell touch is really the next big thing, especially with IPS displays because it will let LCD screened devices achieve the same available volume compared to OLED screened devices. [editline]17th September 2012[/editline] And the closest thing we have to SoC advantage these days are the APQ8064 and whatever Cortex A15 SoC gets launched first.
Fair enough. I'm not too bothered about screens, as long as it doesn't burn my retinas out and the backlighting is even, I'm happy. And UI Smoothness is really a personal thing. I will admit that iOS and WP7 is really fucking smooth on less powerful hardware, but Android is getting there, slowly. Though part of the issue with it is that manufacturers keep shoving more hardware into an already cramped device to get their custom skinned Android to run smoother. Having quad core processors and 2GB of RAM in a phone is fucking overkill, in my opinion. Focus on optimizing the software a bit, don't just shove more power hungry, heat producing chips in, damn it. Another part of the issue is that manufacturers are still selling devices that ship with GB, that in and of itself is unacceptable. This heavily contributes to the fragmentation issue as well as Market apps appealing to the lowest common denominator meaning that the devices running 4.x get slower apps with the terrible GB theming. It just sucks.

It just sucks.
Blaming manufacturers for launching with GB doesn't truly make sense though. When you look at the BIG BIG picture the fault is really with Google. Had Google done what I've said before about update contracts OEMs wouldn't be allowed to launch any phone on an old version of Android, because all their devices within a timeframe would have to be on the new version if Google said so or they wouldn't be allowed to launch new devices running Android. Instead they prostituted themselves to the OEMs and carriers to grab market share, and hey it worked. Now they get people's information from every Android phone hooked up with Google services and that's really what it's all about when you get down to it. As for what you mentioned about software optimisation. The word slowly really needs to be put bold and underlined because it really is a slow process. Wow you made a 1.2GHz dual core with 1GB of RAM run a UI near 60fps, congratulations. Microsoft and Nokia over there did it always at 60fps with a more animation intensive UI on an 800MHz single core and 256MB of RAM, far below the Nexus One from nearly three years ago. But it is indeed moving forward, and hopefully the level of performance increases also increases so we get bigger and bigger jumps.
Feel free to come out with pitchforks but I am impressed with the htc desire c The specs are awful but it runs fairly well even with the default sense 4.0 I am usually one of those people who go "HOW DARE YOU USE THE STOCK ROM, GO AND INSTALL CYANOGENMOD NOW!!", but I am perfectly fine with sense (Well mostly because I only use the phone for texting and music, I do everything else on my tablet)
Yeah, I guess blame is both with Google and the OEMs on that part. It'd be nice if Google were more strict about what devices can get full Play Market capabilities so we get less shitty Android phones... I kept telling people in the Android thread back in 2011 that HTC's use of crappy hardware and reliance on microSD cards would screw them over. Got showered in dumb ratings but now HTC is dying due to disgruntled owners with older devices who got stuck with crappy internals, and their old phones can't get updates because they packed almost no internal storage and bundled microSDs.
1.5GB should be more than enough to handle ICS + Sense 4 shouldn't it though?
