In more news, Play Magazines is now available in Australia. Still waiting for Canada support because you can get an entire yearly subscription for like $10, compared to $100 at the book store, or $10 a copy.
Oh hell yeah.
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
Thats a problem.. You can buy a magazine from the play store even if your device doesn't support the magazines app. Could just be me, not sure there isn't an option to install or update the magazine app.
I tried it on my Galaxy Nexus no dice, good thing I have a Nexus 7.
Cant try it till I get home though.
So this is what I landed on. It should be cool for a few days, then the search for a new wallpapr will commence.

I know the search bar is kinda useless, but it's aesthetically pleasing.
Suppose I will show you mine.

The wallpaper is actually a live version of the jelly bean wallpaper.
Very functional, I use tasker to automate everything on it.
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
Nova Launcher to give me the extra icons + faster screen transitions(yes its faster than stock jelly bean while just as smooth imo).
I have my Gmail in a full screen widget in one swipe to the right and Work Email with one swipe to the left.
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
Plus a bunch of tweaks, ad blocker, different font etc. Tried to keep it looking clean.
[QUOTE=garrynohome;37983983]4? As in 4 inches? As in...A PHONE NOT OBSCENELY LARGE TO HIDE A HUGE BATTERY? Well that could be very interesting, especially since yesterday Amiga OS said he wouldn't mind something Nexus S sized with a 720p IPS panel.[/QUOTE]
The One S gets close, but the WP 8X is the closest thing to a flagship 4.3 inch device. It's basically the US One XL compressed into a smaller, but slightly thicker package.

Yah but the One S is a qHD AMOLED, a screen worse than the iPhone 4 had in 2010. Bell won't be carrying any WP8 devices so I have no reason to buy one for customer support, and little confidence in the platform itself especially with how little information Microsoft is giving about the OS.

I was gonna mess with my system font, but rooting and razrs don't go together too well.
And have you experienced abnormal battery drain running nova? I've never run it before and just got it.

Yeah, I thought the WP8x would've been the shit if it launched as a smaller version of the One XL with Android. Too bad I guess, hopefully HTC releases a true flagship in a 4.3 inch formfactor for next year on Android.
... A man can dream.
Ok, so, funny story.
Just spent forever searching for that wallpaper above on the internet because it was part of a different launcher i uninstalled.
Just now thought to download the apk and pull it from there on my computer.
You may all call me retarded now.
And give boxes.

I couldn't tell you I haven't tested it, I have my cpu set to underclock as much as possible whenever the screen is off. The amount of battery that saves is good enough that I don't have to worry about my phone going flat during the day even with things like nova launcher and my live wallpaper.
As for the font I had a few problems but I just backed up my phone and flashed back over whenever anything went wrong, took me a few tries.
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
Then again I don't use my phone all that much apart from phone calls, messages and it's a 24/7 hotspot for my nexus 7 which is what I do any internet browsing and such on.
I'll just run it for a bit, then. My battery life was destroyed by the ICS update.
If your phone is rooted get Rom Toolbox, Easy CPU?, tasker or something similar that will let you underclock your phone more when its screen is turned off.
I'm sure it does this by default but not as much because the difference I have seen since doing this is massive. It also charges a lot faster.
Those specks in the back are reflective I think.
Not sure if good..
I don't mind the back
I usually have cases on my phone because I break/drop everything and anything (apart from my iPod for some reason) so it'll be covered anyway
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
2 days ago I pulled my phone out of my pocket but instead I managed to throw it across the cafeteria and have the back, battery and phone separate into different projectiles and just bounce across the floor
Too bad we can't get rid of this shit
[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/Z3kvv.png[/IMG]
Not the LG logo, the stupidity under it.
otherwise I'm starting to like the back more and more. Fuck, I actually love the look. Kill me.
But is the display curved?
Oh and the "with Google" text makes me think that this won't be the only Nexus. If it was the only one they could just put "Google" there. Unless they're just intentionally fucking with us.
But unless we get a 32GB version I'm skipping this.

I know where they are going with this...[/QUOTE]
THAT'S why I love the idea.
plot twist, the back has animated L.E.D's that emulate the nexus wallpaper

Why give boxes? Most people don't know how to do that anyways.
So my HTC Desire phone is getting old and shitty, and I'm starting to notice it lagging when I try to do simple things. It's no longer as fluid when scrolling through menus as it was despite being reset to factory defaults recently. It's battery life is also quite shit. Would rooting it be of any use, like is there a ROM that gets rid of all the shit it came with or something? I'm quite clueless on the matter but if there is an easy way to get an extra 6 months of happy use into this thing I'll be very happy.

I found just doing a restore of my desire Z (same phone but with a keyboard) made it all smooth again, for a while...
You could try root it and overclock it? or install a better rom like CyanoGenMod after rooting

I hate to sound like a retard but is there an easy/commonly accepted tool to use for rooting? Whenever I google it I see so many methods and I end up getting scared, nothing like jailbreaking my iPod was.
With OLED displays its more power efficient to read white text on a black background. Does this hold true for the non-OLED panel on the nexus 7 as well?

See what some of the more popular devs do. The CyanogenMod website or something may have a good how-to. But make sure it's for your phone and not some other HTC. Plenty of my friends have rooted, they say it's super easy once you get it. It also depends on the phone. The more developer-friendly the phone, the easier the root should be. Moto phones are not very dev-friendly. Samsung is one of the most dev-friendly. It should be quite doable with an HTC.
[QUOTE=Amiga OS;37995201]Yes, but not to the same extent.
The LED backlight on the N7 would selectively shut off parts of itself to make the blacks as black as possible.[/QUOTE]
I can confirm that the N7 screen looks orgasmic due to this
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
Thats why I never liked having a white phone, it made the screen feel smaller IMO

The nexus series does it the right way in that it keeps the bezel black and only allows white on the back of the device.
Uh, OfficeSuite Pro's Google drive support sucks, it's so hard to use. I open the app, tap on remote files and then Google Drive, then it gives me a long list of everything, making my folders useless for it...
sigh

Oh hey, Google's homepage changed

Yesterday they fixed contact image size sync, today they release a new mobile homepage to replace the super old one.
What's next? Pinch to zoom for GMail?!

Hell yes, that's the best way to make white phones IMO.

To be released 2016.
My N7 still hasn't received the 4.1.2 update, I am saddened greatly by this.
Now if I had pinch-to-zoom on gmail... :v:
