I personally like the ability to fall back to 2G. It saves much more battery when in an area with low HSPA coverage. Also, in places where 3G just isn't available, 2G most likely is. With Bell, I'd just have no service. There are surprisingly many deadspots on the Lower Mainland area.
My home is in one of them.
I used Rom Toolbox Pro which is a paid app but I'm sure the lite version would work. Set CPU is the same thing just by itself, also costs $$. Go to the performance tab > CPU settings(or something like that). Slide the screen to get to the profile section, tick the box that says "use profiles". Add two profiles, one for screen on and one for screen off. For the screen on profile, set the max and min to whatever you like mine is just the default settings with interactive as the governor. For the "screen off" profile set both of the sliders to the minimum and set the governor to ondemand(powersave seems to lag when trying to unlock the phone), set the priority on this one lower than the priority that was set for "screen on". You can experiment with these, I actually set my phone to the powerful governor(keeps the phone on the highest clock speed) when the screen is on, keeps it really fast and surprisingly doesn't use much more battery than a dynamic clock speed, I think it's because switching between different clock speeds all the time drains the battery. It seems to compress data and cache data, so it will save data on your phone; if you access it twice it will load it from the phones storage rather than your connection. I'll try it and see how much it saves.
Awesome, thanks :) I just set it up and we'll see how much it helps my battery. And I may get it too. My Phone app uses about 8 gigs a month. I have no idea why or how and there's nothing on the internet about it, but the app is going crazy.
My phone uses 50 GB or so, on WiFi. Yeah. It happens when you run servers overnight ;)
I have a 1.5GB data cap after which I have pay a ton of money to continue using it, this is on a $60 phone plan. Australia sucks.
Anyone got a data watch app that is not 3G watchdog? Doesn't work on my phone using LTE.
Anyone seen this app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onavo.android.onavoics&hl=en Seems like it caches data to cut down mobile data used, I hope it works even if its just a few hundred mb, data is a problem for me.
I've used it, seems to work well on text heavy stuff. When you install it, you're automatically connected to a VPN when you go on mobile data. You get little stats on how much data you're saving.

Ugh.
We aren't allowed to share the APK just yet, but we're working on getting the permission necessary to do so. You would need to be rooted and running 4.0+. No promises though.
I just stumbled onto Android and Me, when I saw this: Featured in the Android Rookies Top 10 this week.
Except they can't post their APK. Ugh.
Soon
I were so excited for my Note II that I forgot taking pics but I fucking love it. The screen blows my mind.
What does SuperOneClick actually say when you try to root without it "running"?
All the shit goes through, it says it's successful and tries to send an SU command to my phone, nothing happens on my phone, so I try and open the SU app and it force closes same thing happens to my GF's phone on her PC so I'm doing something wrong
Not really sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know any good games I can download? Looking for games with a fairly long playtime and must be offline. I'm about to go to my girlfriends sisters house for a meal.. I can see me having a lot of time to kill.
I said I'm going to her sisters house for a meal :P Also I will look at the games thanks!

If you're not 100% sure, I recommend just downloading PdaNet and installing it. If it asks you to replace drivers, just say yes then try running SuperOneClick again.
Using my 360 controller to play Wild Blood, holy shit!
Radiant defence is probably the best game I've played on Android.
Went to my local University's open house today, since I have to choose a program to apply to this year. I was in the computer science building, and there are Nexus 7's everywhere. The profs were using them for lecture notes and to-do lists and the like, students were using them with bluetooth to control robots (they were racing lego robots across tables) and take notes. I saw at least 15, most of which were owned by the Comp-Sci department. I guess they bought them in bulk because they're so cheap
Yay, O2's network has just shat itself again and my phone is now useless.
Hehe, you need to get yourself on either Talkmobile, Vodafone or Everything Everywhere.
Yay, O2's network has just shat itself again and my phone is now useless.
I'm on O2 and my phone is working phone, unless no-one has text me or called me :saddowns:
3 people called me today, wanting to buy my One X. Not that I mind - upgrading and all, but damn, bad timing! All the good stuff isn't out yet...
Rebuild is my recommendation. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.sarahnorthway.rebuild2
3 people called me today, wanting to buy my One X. Not that I mind - upgrading and all, but damn, bad timing! All the good stuff isn't out yet...
I wish MS gave at least a but of info about WP8
How is this new, I've been able to do it for a while.
Then your OEM has modified your email app.
Galaxy Note 2 looks nice, but then I'd be stuck with old Android, while that multi-window feature would be ported to all other phones anyway. And I want a Lumia anyway.
