Probably, it will maybe even allow you to download more ram!
Anyone interested in an Asus Padfone?

The design looks great but i think it's too gimmicky to warrant tons of popularity.

Just had a moment. If this can be cheap enough, they could combine this tech with transformers a few generations down the road.
My god, this could take over 0_o

Yeah, because fuck updates right?
Yeah, because fuck updates right?
No, fuck working on updates for new premium handsets while your last updates for your last line of premium handsets left some phones inoperable and most of them with at least a few bugs. Including bugs that affect battery life (many people's reason for buying the Maxx over the regular RAZR.)
And then fuck not releasing a bootloader unlock code for that line of handsets when you have one out for almost every other handset you make, leaving most devs to say "fuck Motorola" and not even try to develop a workaround that's not sketchy as shit.

Yes, because when in doubt, support older devices first, just like every other OE- oh wait. Motorola's update woes are partly Verizon, partly Motorola. There's nothing you can do about it.

I haven't seen an OEM with the popularity of Motorola act like this.
And my problem is with Moto. They had two "estimated" deadlines, each passed by the end of September.
Then they basically said "It'll happen when it happens."
A mix of speculation and hints from Motorola have lead people to expect a fix after the Bionic gets ICS (which just happened), but there's still no official word.
The fact that they missed their estimated deadlines doesn't surprise me. What surprises me is that near-completed builds for JB are leaking for a handset that just released with a working ICS while other customers get shafted because they bought into Motorola earlier.
And all this at the same time they screw over owners of the Motorola Atrix 4G, Electrify and Photon 4G by saying they'll get ICS, and then rescinding that and saying "Naw, we'll just give you 100 bucks toward a new phone." That's really not cool, especially when people make their purchasing decisions based on those update lists.
The only way Moto could make this RAZR fiasco ok would be to skip the bug fix and roll out JB when (or just before) it hits the RAZR HD line. (Which, to me, is a pipe dream. They've said the RAZR line will get JB, but they've already proven they can't keep update promises.)
And then they will still have to deal with the owners of the other phones they said they'd update probably leaving the company.
I'm sure you can understand why Motorola users are embittered by this situation.
Hey Robber, if you're still watching this thread, look what Reddit found:

Wonder how much battery it eats.

Motorola users don't deserve to be embittered, because they bought Motorola. Nobody forced them to go with a company with such an atrocious track record. If a user really NEEDs updates right on time maybe they shouldn't have bought an Android phone that isn't a Yakju Gnex.
Can anyone recommend custom ROMs for the HTC Desire S? Also, will things made for the Desire work for Desire S? I don't know much about this stuff really
So I can go out and buy a Nexus 7 16gb right now for £180. But I know that there's another 32gb one coming out soonish. Would I be a fool to not wait until then? I'm mainly worried about the internals and if there's gonna be any improvement, but I can't find anything about that so I assume not. The extra space is nice but my family has a 16gb Galaxy Tab 2 and we've barely filled even half that.
This is assuming the 32gb version will be £200 when it's released though.

NO! They're completely different devices, ROMs for the original Desire won't work on the S.
garrynohome, I shoulda asked yesterday but forgot...
Someone I know is a cheap guy (a different guy) and he want's to go for Wind Mobile's $30 Unlimited Everything plan, Good? Bad? Wind Mobile seems like the best of the "I don't have my own network so I use everyone elses" compared to Moblicity which has less coverage and is probably worse overall. For this, is Wind the best right now in Toronto or in general? He will mainly use it in Toronto anyways. How's the data?
This guy won't go for Rogers/Bell/Telus/Fido what so ever.
I'll assume that Wind is the best for this case.
If anyone else can help, that works too.

Yah don't go to Mobilicity. Mobilicity is only good for getting the Galaxy Nexus inexpensively at $299
[editline]14th October 2012[/editline]
I'm uh, not sure what you mean by "I don't have my own network so I use everyone elses." Wind and Mobilicity have their own networks, that's why the coverage is bad. You can roam, but obviously it costs money and people paying roaming charges for data would probably be better off just paying $60/mth to one of the bigger carriers.
Now who wanted HP WebOS?
http://liliputing.com/2012/10/could-webos-live-on-as-an-android-app-phoenix-devices-is-working-on-it.html
Aside from multitasking which I hear was fantastic on webOS, what are the benefits compared to Android?
I assume it isn't Java...

It's designed really well and it's intuitive, although I know whether or not someone likes design is a subjective thing. The multitasking is amazing like you mentioned. I remember when I had a Palm Pre it was so easy to tweak. You just downloaded this tool that installed Preware to the phone and you could modify pretty much whatever you wanted. The downside is that since it never took off, it has very few applications.
[editline]14th October 2012[/editline]
Oh and I remember since the Pre was my first phone, I opened a bunch of apps when I first got it and I didn't know you were supposed to swipe the cards up to close the apps. So for the first couple days I always had tons of apps running that I didn't know how to close. That kind of goes against my comment about it being intuitive, but it was more my fault than the OS.

It's pretty much a given that it will, but you ally never know. It can't hurt to wait and see.

Well it would make sense if it hits the market before December starts.
Christmas & all that.

I think it will. They wouldn't miss the Holidays. Especially when its already popping up on server logs and warehouse ledgers (whatever they call them now).

Actually, their awfulness is fairly recent. It really started with the generation of phones before the Atrix 4G.
I say this because my Mom had a Droid X and the software support was pretty damn good.

The Atrix was January 2011, nearly two years ago. So it started longer than two years ago, how is that recent? Regardless, the point still stands that anybody who cares about consistent and timely updates should buy a Nexus device for Android or an iPhone if they want iOS. Even the best Android OEMs still get their updates out much slower than Nexus devices get updates.
The only people who I feel bad for when they complain about updates are people who bought Lumia devices, especially on Canadian contracts. They will see one update over the course of three years, nothing more.

It happened, like it has happened with this new Atrix 2 gen. It was a bit after it launched and a gradual slide into stupidity.
And I think Samsung updated on a good timeline. Asus does too. If you don't get a Nexus, you know you're not going to get the updates first. I just got Motorola because I honestly think the handset is better than any other of it's generation and my mom had a good experience with them.
Speaking of Canadian contracts, where did all the two year options go? I remember when I got my SGS2 on bell everything had the option of two or even one year contracts. Now I go to the bell or telus sites and the only options are no-contract or three year terms.

Fido still has two-year. But then again, they have a really bad phone selection. Their highest end options are the HTC One S and the Galaxy Nexus. No SGS3 or One X.

They're still available if you go into a store, but you only save like $50 on a two year as usual so it's a complete waste.
I went ahead and installed a custom rom, followed all the steps and it said it was successful, now when I reboot I get stuck on the HTC logo, I can reboot and still enter recovery though, any tips?

Make sure you actually wiped, make sure the ROM is actually for your device, and make sure that you flashed the boot.img if you're S-ON unlocked.

Rumor Roundup
Some guy in Japan got a 32GB Nexus 7 instead of the 16GB one he ordered, and he is outraged.

What are you using as sms/keyboard app? I love GO sms and then I'm using Thumb Keyboard. It's amazing because you get so much customization, macro keys, 2 spacebars etc.
