What. High End phones that cost $649 are $0 on a $30/month 2 year contract? Shit.
They barely have to put up any cell towers to cover their countries.
I understand it's because of the population density but still its pretty awesome and much better compared to Canada...
They barely have to put up any cell towers to cover their countries.
Why does this post sound really "I'm from a place where we are much better than the rest of the world"? Made me laugh because I actually got offended at first.

Made me laugh because I actually got offended at first.
No you guys are way better, you don't need like a trillion cell towers to cover everyone. It wouldn't be so bad if we didn't need to put a bunch for people in rural areas that are so spread out where a tower barely covers anyone.
Sometimes Android trolls me. Slow right now? Kill some apps and bam its faster for a while. But sometimes it's like lots of free ram? I'll slow you down. Then it's like low ram? Let me make everything faster! I haven't task killed anything and it feels so much faster and yet when I was task Killin yesterday it made everything faster. Damn it inconsistencies! The reason I haven't been task Killin is because everything felt smooth so I didn't need to do so...

I fucking love how people complain about poor reception, but as soon as a cell tower is going to get put up somewhere everyone is out with pitchforks to stop it, presumably because of all the cancer waves being emitted. In other news, for no reason at all, T-Mobile is the only carrier that provides decent reception at our school. Verizon doesn't have solid LTE reception and 3G is hit and miss, Sprint is even worse, and AT&T basically only has noise floor levels of LTE and HSPA+ in a lot of areas, with around 3 bars or so elsewhere (yes I know that's meaningless but I don't know the exact dbm/RSSP).
android can't ram
android can't ram
Pretty true. They really need to start doing an overhaul of RAM management, anything that limits the max number or lifetime of processes, or the time spent in the background needs to be gotten rid of from the code, the solution to rogue apps isn't fucking up the OOM killer, it's better diagnostic tools (This application x has been detected as using excessive wakelock/CPU/Network/Sensor) I seriously hate V6 supercharger with a passion, I think it is literally the epitome of script kiddy xda style, but it works. Without it, GB is noticeably laggier. On ICS, it actually fixes the multitasking for a lot of people.
android can't ram
What are you talking about... Androids can ram pretty well. In fact, I just rammed one into my hardwood floor after it pissed me off, and it's fine!
I cant even imagine. I try so hard not to hurt mine. I took the rubber case off because of heat and I'm so nervous...
"force gpu rendering"- xda developers Even advised for when your keyboard lags!
I have GPU rendering forced on both my nexus devices, its a simple build.prop edit. No bloatware allowed on my devices. [editline]15th October 2012[/editline]
Ah. I paid nothing for my Note II. I havent even got my first bill yet. You cant really run away when they have your birthnumber :v: Paying 25$ a month for 2 years. Unlimited calls, sms, data. That's such a fucking nice deal.
I have to pay $60 a month for my phone, $500 calls, unlim text and only 1.5gb data.
Garrynohome: I'm kind of thinking about trying to get either a Bell or Telus One S imported and unlocked to work on AT&T just because I'm a rebel :v:, is it possible for me to just buy one straight from either Bell or Telus and have them ship it here? [editline]14th October 2012[/editline] Really though, I just want to know how I can find a One S that will work on AT&T's 850/1900 WCDMA bands. Ebay gives me nothing. [editline]14th October 2012[/editline] The MAO black would be pretty badass but not really going to nitpick here.

My family just recently upgraded to a data plan, and accordingly, all got Motorola Droid 4's. Phone's easy enough to use at a basic level, but are there any full on user manuals or other sorts of guides? The one that came with the device is little more than a quick-start guide for your average consumer, as opposed to someone who's computer literate and can actually use common sense.

Speaking of the Padfone 2, why the hell did the first one (and I'm guessing also the second one) not come to the US. I own a Transformer (the first one), and an old Evo 4g, and back when the first one was announced, I pooped with excitement, but it never came to the states. I use my Transformer for my classes, and I've been wanting a new phone, so the combo of tablet+phone, with a bitchin stylus headset and super battery is absolutely perfect for me, but it keeps not coming to the US! Plus, even if it did, it'd have to come to Sprint. If it came, but not with Sprint, I'd probably switch. Anyone know what's up with Asus and not selling it in the US? [editline]15th October 2012[/editline] Oh shit, I just found out about this. Now to decide: get the new Evo 4g LTE for my bday, wait/save up and get the Padfone, or wait even longer for the Padfone 2 to be brought here.

And the contract only gives me 75 minutes, unlimited SMS and 1GB data...

They'd have to make a special version for Sprint's CDMA and the first version of the device apparently didn't do too well with the software issues and bulky design. Making special versions of what is already a sort of niche device wouldn't be a good gamble. Honestly if people want the most choice when it comes to their phones, switch to AT&T. You won't have to deal with your carrier having uncommon frequencies like T-Mobile USA or CDMA like Sprint/Verizon.
Android RAM Management: Hey, you playing a game? Or anything that has IAPs? Why don't I leave that BillingService process in your Ram even after you quit the game or forget close it! I probably blame the devs for leaving that BillingService unattended or Android for not having an option on the SDK to stop it. Yeah Android needs to fix them RAM.
Are there any (dis)advantages to forcing GPU rendering
Wow and I thought American carrier deals were best...
Americans get ripped off to fuck with mobiles I pay £10 a month for unlimited texts and internet with 250 minutes.
Don't like the look of this one at all, but as long as we're getting more Nexi phones - fuck yeah!
So I just found out that facebook has decided to sync your photo galleries to your phone with no option to turn it off in the settings (you can turn the sync off in sync settings), and let android take care of the downloading, which means that the data usage is added to 'android os', which means that I didn't know where the genormous increase in data usage came from. God fucking damnit facebook, why the fuck would you turn this on by default... ~500/1000MB on my contract gone fucks sake.

That's the awesome point! And I don't like the front "design" at all. The back seems okay, but microUSB on the side is sorta stupid.
[sp]Install Tinfoil for Facebook[/sp]
I've disabled it trough the android sync settings now, thanks though.

Look in your sync settings, you'll see that google tries to sync all this useless shit as well.
that Sony phone is pretty much confirmed fake guys
I absolutely love how it looks, but yeah the side USB port is a really shitty idea, However I do like the idea of a landscape alarm clock dock.
Wasn't that the point of the 3-pin connector that the Galaxy Nexus introduced (but that's apparently missing in the LG Nexus)? Would be much better since you wouldn't have to actually apply any pressure to put the microUSB connector in the phone, just rest it in a dock and the pins start charging and whatever else. Facebook force enabled it in an update AFAIK, and that's pretty evil to do. They could've had a one-time popup saying that this new feature is available. Do you want to turn it on? y/n edit: and the fact that it's masking itself as Android OS (I assume this is mainly Androids fault though) is even worse since you can't backtrace it to whatever is downloading so much data.
I wish there were third party docks for the Galaxy Nexus. I wanted to use the pogo pins, though the official dock is way too expensive.
