What are you after, exactly? Droidforums is pretty good.
Some sort of reference or manual, if possible. Something that if I need to RTFM, I can RTFM. Like I said, the "manual" that came with the phones are little more than a quick start guide. I wanted to transfer photos from the phone to my computer and skimmed over the DCIM folder in favor of the Photos folder. Manual said nothing about where photos were stored for transferring.
ah yes now I'm reminded why I love android devices, they're the only ones where your fucking
phone
can get a fucking
kernel panic
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/co3QIv.jpg[/t] also check that nokia n96 camera quality
Stock firmware or custom ROM (CM10)? Because the last 2-3 (mostly experimentals) builds were causing that a lot. If it's stock, then that's just sad.
So do you guys really need THAT much space on your phone/tablet? http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/11khxy/do_you_really_need_that_much_storage_space_on/
I recently started paying for spotify premium and started streaming films over LAN to my tablet and my need for space has basically disappeared; while it's not ideal given the UK's (shitty) wireless infrastructure it's pretty damn convenient all the same. I essentially just use my space for storing photos and apps on now, although I still couldn't imagine having any less than 16GB. That said, options are always nice and manufacturers should really start taking a leaf out of Apple's book (i.e. if you're not gonna provide expandable storage (perfectly fine in this day and age, I've lost my hardon for it) at least give them the option to have a lot of space. Though don't take a leaf out of Apple's book in terms of charging hundreds of pounds extra for a bit of flash that costs literally pennies. It was. Downgraded to a slighty older build straight after though - I just find it amusing that phone sofware's now so complex it's getting the same error I last saw on a linux distro I managed to fuck up beyond repair in like '05.
suck it crapple isheep, can your phones get a kernel panic? nah. of course not. they aren't as advanced >:)
suck it crapple isheep, can your phones get a kernel panic? nah. of course not. they aren't as advanced >:)
not what I meant in the slightest, perhaps I should have said 'advanced' rather than advanced I like android and all but certain aspects are an absolute mess

The nightly from Sunday is good. Devs are literally shitting out builds again though, including a "stabilitytest" that's up on get.cm right now. Hopefully they can get rid of the RIL problems finally (which initially triggered the unstability in the recent builds). But hell, the kernel panic is nothing new, I've been getting it on CM9 somewhere in April.

Files in the cloud, as well as locally.
Y'know what? fell free to copy & paste my previous post and send it around IF you also hate the fact that phone & tablet manufacturers think ditching microSD cards are are a GREAT IDEA!!
i never had a problem with apple doing it because they actually offered a lot of space - up to 64gb with android you're lucky to find 32

while cloud may not be the best on the go, it's really good for backups. Dropbox + Evernote + Google (Contacts, Calendars, Mail, Music) all make a great combo.
I don't even want external sd card support because of the extra storage, I want it because backups.
MicroSD card can even survive saltwater (the sea), lawnmower, washing machine and much more. They're tough lil' buggers and are excellent for backup of the phone's internal data on-the-go.
while cloud may not be the best on the go, it's really good for backups. And it's not just that data is expensive. Stuff in the cloud is pretty much the exact opposite of secure. [editline]16th October 2012[/editline] Oh my god the app thread what the fuck.
if somebody wanted your data, they'd get it one way or another, and no encryption will save you.
Well the other way would require MUCH MORE effort or at-least a very creative approach. Or good ol' fashioned cat-style burglary while you're asleep, but how often do that happen compared to someone acquired your password(s) somehow?
thermorectal cryptoanalysis does wonders
I know, but why make it that much easier for benefits that are marginal at best. IMHO, the cloud is king of a gimmick beyond stuff like imgur or Dropbox. Not integrated enough.
thermorectal cryptoanalysis does wonders
There's few problem a big wrench can't solve. I'm old fashioned in that regard. [editline]16th October 2012[/editline] EU please make removable storage slot mandatory in cellphones, tablets & alike. You could with making MicroUSB a per-default data & charging port for mobile phones. Extra kudos if it's MicroSDXC that's the standard. XOXO - Van-man
so htc announced a white 64gb one s it's pretty damn beautiful.
htc makes pretty phones shame they aren't very good at making software for them though
why does everyone think people don't use stock android anyway?
because there's like 2 devices on the market that have it [editline]16th October 2012[/editline] officially
why does everyone think people don't use stock android anyway?
it is stock, there's just phone maker and carrier crap on top of it.
it is stock, there's just phone maker and carrier crap on top of it.
if things work fundamentally different and has different apps then it's not really stock imo
it is stock, there's just phone maker and carrier crap on top of it.
My stock desire S on virgin mobile had no carrier branding/stuff on it.
it is stock, there's just phone maker and carrier crap on top of it.
That statement is a contradiction IMO. Android Central stated it well. http://www.androidcentral.com/why-you-ll-never-have-latest-version-android
We should also point out that Android phones, as we tend to think of them, aren’t just Android phones. They’re Android-based phones. A few months back, Google’s Vic Gundotra made a post on Google+, singing the praises of his new Nexus 7 tablet, along with an attached photo. When followers asked him what he used to take the picture, he replied in very precise, deliberate language -- it was taken on his “Android-based Galaxy S3.” Gundotra’s wording illuminates a crucial distinction between Nexus and “Google Experience” devices, and the Samsung, HTC and Motorola-branded phones that dominate the walls of most stores. Android is what’s released by Google. Once manufacturers get hold of it, the end product is Android-based. There’s stuff in there that Google doesn’t directly control, meaning it’s no longer just “Android.” The HTC One X is an Android-based HTC Sense phone. The Galaxy S3 is an Android-based Samsung TouchWiz phone. Though they're compatible with Android and share a common feature set, they're different to the operating system delivered by the folks at Mountain View.
