Lacking anti-alias Next you'll tell me you just picked up the remote for the TV, and it switched to a hardcore porno channel an cranks the volume to max, while there's conveniently kids in the room. Only problem I've been having with my Desire Z is low amount of memory. I should probably set-up a SWAP file on it's SD card.
I have no idea what you just implied with that porn anecdote :v:
I think I really fucked my Galaxy S 2. Tried to install some boot loader via Odin for CM9, ended up failing. I couldn't get out of Odin, so I restarted the phone. Now it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." Except Kies won't recognize it. But Odin does, so I'm going to try and install factory ICS again and see if it works. I can't get out of this screen though, I hope Odin downloads it.
Also if you're in the UK a class 10 32GB microSD card on amazon is only £20 I'd buy it but I don't really need it http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sandisk-Ultra-Class-Micro-Adapter/dp/B007JTKLEK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1350944807&sr=8-3
I don't think the burn in has anything to do with the brightness with these AMOLED screens, when I'm at home the screen is at minimum and when I'm out it automatically goes to auto-brightness, but there are some burnt in bits from apps I only use at home.
I've never had any burns on my SGSII and I've kept it at 0% it's whole life.
how do you ever go outside
Solution: I don't.
Might for the first time use a ROM other than stock on my GS3/any android I've had. Thinking Paranoid Android, that's what I've seen recommended for JB. Any other recommendations? Probably will do it on some downtime tomorrow.

I hate Rogers now, they charged me money for text messages they sent.. Brb bothering customers service...
Just got a 32 gb micro for $22. Happy camper right here.
I haven't noticed any burn-ins on my GSII
I wish there was a ICS/JB themed calendar widget.
Hi, I've been using Gingerbread stock with a root on my Droid X2 which has shitty motoblur and I've been looking to switch Rom's, unfourtnately the X2 doesn't have much support (CM9 being Alpha aswell as MIUI) and Eclipse seems to be the best rom to use. I just rooted the new 2.3.5 update but I'm completely lost on how to do any of the steps required to install the new rom and I'm afraid to brick my phone, any guides/help I could get on these steps?
1. sbf to 234 2. Root using MotorolaOneclick 3. Install Voodoo OTA rootkeeper and protect root but temp unroot 4. Apply 235 update in stock recovery 5. Restore root in Voodoo rootkeeper and delete backup (make sure root is restored before deleting!) 6. Install bootstrap 7. Reboot into bootstrap recovery 8. Wipe data 9. Flash eclipse 10. Profit from its beauty
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/2099-romeclipse-v23-72512/
Will this method let you keep your apps and data?
Will this method let you keep your apps and data?
No I don't believe so, it will just be a minor inconvenience in any case and I could go without a fresh start, the only thing I care for is my music and thats on an SD Card.
Will this method let you keep your apps and data?
You wont get to keep your apps because they are wiped in step 8 before flashing, you could use something like Titanium backup or app2zip. Anything on the internal storage or SD card such as pictures, music, etc should be fine though.
Hey, I just did the Android first app tutorial. I have a question: is @string/app_name actually used anywhere? I'm using API level 15, and both the title bar and the application name in the launcher use title_activity_main, not app_name.
I don't think so. I believe it's just an example of how to use String resources.
I don't think so. I believe it's just an example of how to use String resources.
Hmm, but it is in my manifest. AndroidManifest.xml:
<application android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/AppTheme" > <activity android:name=".MainActivity" android:label="@string/title_activity_main" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name=".DisplayMessageActivity" android:label="@string/title_activity_display_message" > <meta-data android:name="android.support.PARENT_ACTIVITY" android:value="com.shaunofthelive.myfirstapp.MainActivity" /> </activity> </application>
So it's being used as the application label, but Android doesn't seem to use that anywhere.
I know. What phone do you have? That's like 6-7 or so rows you have there and it doesn't look crushed.
gsii my screen has a burn in, too. it's not too noticeable, but still very pesky.
I love it when people say display quality doesn't matter on a phone, yet most smartphones have the best display most people will ever see, and their desktop monitor is comparatively shit.
Oh wow, I just went straight from a white background on my N7 to looking at a white background on my S2 and it is noticeably greener. First time I've actually noticed.
oh come on that's just not fair. it would last at least 45 minutes!
My galaxy nexus lasts through a 2 hour movie at full brightness, or a full day with normal use. Does the job, I have a nexus 7 to watch movies on anyway. [editline]23rd October 2012[/editline] Oh and in that picture the brightness is on about 5%, the nexus has one of the brightest screens I have ever seen.
Remember how I was complaining my camera was non-operable? Well I just cleared my phone's cache and it appears to have fixed itself. Whoo!
I'm really unhappy with my Note II now. Fucking damnit.
GS2 screen green tint? That's the first I've heard, with my GS2, and everyone I know personally, the screen tinting is blue not green. Same with the Gnex phones.
My friend's SGS2 has green tint but only when you aren't looking at the screen from directly in front

My GSII had a noticeable green tint to the screen when using the screen dimming app below 50%
I'm really unhappy with my Note II now. Fucking damnit.
I tend to feel that way a few months after owning any Android device. Man it'd be nice if some OEM could let the user make custom phones like how Sager/Clevo lets users modify laptops before ordering. Too bad it just doesn't work that way and you always have to deal with a downside to having an upside like dealing with AMOLED screens to get Samsung's internal hardware.
Completely reinstalling stock firmware via Odin should save you, the S2 is REALLY hard to brick.
Yeah, it took me forever, but I finally managed to reinstall ICS, thank fuck, I can't afford an S3 yet Also, I've dropped my phone a shit ton of times and the corners are all dented in and scratched http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Middle-Chassis-Frame-Bezel-Tool-for-TMobile-Samsung-T989-Galaxy-S2-RQHR111-/190741062917?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c690da505 That would just replace the outer shell, right? Like the grey/silver bit that wraps around the phone and holds the buttons?
