So one of my friends had a Galaxy Note and I started to actually use it and I was like holy shit this phone is HUGE. I mean me playing MineCraft: PE on it is just such a huge difference. I can see why iPhone users are like that phone is too big. It can fit like 2.25 Mini Pros on the screen alone :v:

Damn it, why u no rotate?
So my friend has an S2 and there is screen burn in on her phone. You can see the burn in off the keyboard when looking at anything white on the screen. She said she noticed this not long after getting the phone last year. What I want to know is that does the S3 have the same burn in problems? I'm getting one soon.

Any OLED screen will get burn in.
Alright, my current $200 laptop is finally shitting on me after 2 years
Thinking about buying an Asus Transformer + dock pad to replace it. I just need something to do school notes on, browse the internet and such.
Any objections?

Which one? The TF101 can have update issues(roll some dice, if it's odd your device will have issues, if it's even you'll be fine), and the TF700T's performance is crippled by what I believe to be Tegra 3's limited memory bandwidth to drive the display. The others seemed fine provided you don't need GPS on the Prime.

Whatever the best one is. I looked at best buy's model they had on display, it was a t700 and they had the dock there for me to try out too. I really liked it, but I know nothing about tablets, or word processing software for Android
I would just like to keep the tablet price under $500, I'm having someone buy me the dock at christmas
What I have noticed is that on my friends Galaxy Note, max brightness is lke 1/3 of my Max Brightness on my phone. Is AMOLED really that weak in terms of screen brightness? I mean mine is LED-backlit LCD.

It's not, but it's artificially limited to prolong the display lifespan.

I'd say check out the TF700T(a horrible mistake IMO) and the Surface, but the latter is only available online and in Microsoft stores so that's likely to be an issue.

So you're saying stay away from the TF700T? what's going on with the performance, I can't find much online.
and I'll look into the surface, I don't plan on buying anything until December

Is there any way to fix it?
I'm now scared of getting a note :(

No, this has been an issue for years and it's not going away.

Could be new stuff by then, the market changes quickly. You can honestly just do your research 2 weeks before buying, consult some people on the net etc etc.
I took like a day to get my phone, some took minutes, others takes months.

Late as fuck but I actually used to hang around with someone who was EXACTLY like this.
Note the use of past tense.
My dad needs a new phone, any good low-end Androids with long battery life? screen size, memory, etc. isn't a big deal, GPS would be appreciated though
Right now I'm trying to install Zeus on my Infuse, because I'm starting to get annoyed by Froyo

Neither my old s2, nor my s3 have any sign of burn in.

My S1 and S2 both have it on the status bar, and my S2 has it very faint where I used to have the weather and clock widgets all the time. Widgets slow the S1 to a crawl so I never used any.

Seriously, how do you get burn in? Do you leave your screen on for hours at a time or something? My screen is only on when I'm doing something, and when I'm doing something it's obviously not going to be a still image so it won't burn in.

I'm on my phone literally all the time, and my S2 got a lot of use back when it was the best phone out there since it was the demo phone I used at work. The top bar only goes away in videos, so if you use your phone a lot it will eventually end up burned in there.

One S? :v:
That's pretty expensive though.
I got my MHL adapter today. It's interesting playing GBA games with a PS3 controller on my LCD monitor with my phone powering it all.
Ive had an iPhone 4s since Christmas, and it's starting to develop those |~wacky quirks!!~| that every apple device seems to after a while. I really want to switch over and get a nexus. Is it worth it to get the straight-from-google version? I'm not sure how much of a discount id get just upgrading with my provider's version, but I absolutely despise that corporate bloatware.
Generally provider nexus's aren't too bad when it comes to bloatware. A stock google version is always a good idea though, at least you get OTA updates.
I think after making around 4 separate backups I'm ready to start installing gingerbread, then ICS and finally jellybean

Kingsoft Office is a nice office app that is free, out of 4 apps I've tried I settled with this one since I've made a simple powerpoint with the program.
Haahahah I'm on ICS, this is pure magic

Honestly depending on how the Samsung Nexus 10 looks, I'm probably gonna get the TF700 this late nov/early dec.
From what I've seen its really good, great processor, huuuugee battery with the dock (and a pretty good one without), ASUS's primo software support behind it.
Honestly, the only reason I can think that garrynohome isn't all that impressed is that it's a few months old and jellybean can lag every now and then.
Watch some youtube reviews (I recommend Mobile Tech Reviews' videos) and read about it before you make your decision, but I don't think the TF700 is a bad deal at all.

I watched a good 2 hours of reviews tonight, and read a bunch too.
From my understanding, its either a hit or a miss, but Asus is generally really good about replacing their misses.
Misses include:
screen not properly attached
headphone jack not working
gps not working
and a few other things I can't be assed to look up right now.
Most of those problems seem to have been fixed via replacement within a month
But the big complaint I've seen most people have is that the browser is slow and jittery compared to others, which was the case for the TF700 I played with at best buy. I dunno if its software, or hardware, but it was about on par with my SGS2 browser speed.
I'll look into it more, but right now its the most attractive tablet/keyboard dock combo on the market
Also thank you Azn, I'll be sure to look into that. Polaris was kinda hit and miss for me. I wouldn't mind spending some money for a really good word app though

After properly installing ICS on my galaxy s 2 I'm loving it.
I used to get 8 hours battery life when the phone was on standby in my pocket. Today I managed 11 hours with very heavy usage. World of Goo and Netflix for a good bit. Very impressed with it over the original Kies installation
