So I've had my computer for like 6 years, all fine and dandy, and yesterday I tried Chivalry: Medieval Warfare for about 5 minutes and I started seeing artifacts on the screen and a sudden and most unexpected BSOD.
I tried restarting, and to my surprise my graphics card had just given the kazoosh on me.

Booting up revealed artifacts on the bios and I can pretty much confirm its death.
Funeral will be held in a couple of days :'(

RIP in peace my graphics card
About time you retired that thing anyways.
I'm considering replacing it with a 560 Ti, any thoughts/suggestions?
660Ti's are pretty cheap last I checked. I remember seeing one on sale for right around $200 a couple weeks ago.

But the 560 Ti will be a freakin quantum leap over your 8800 I think.

Don't. Go for a GTX 660 (non Ti) or a 7870. Both are considerably better than the 560 Ti and are only slightly more expensive. If you can't afford those, get a 7850.
Can you mail the card to me? I might be able to fix it.

If he can afford a 660TI then what's the problem einstein?

Bake that shit.

Where did OP say he could afford one? He was considering a 560 Ti which is $100 less than a normal priced 660 Ti.
Don't even replace it. Do a new build. It'll be way more cost effective and you can keep your case, os, and optical drives.

Go with something from the 600 series while they are still making the low end cards. After the 700s come out it will be hard to find low end cards.

Yeah, no.
Baking doesn't fix anything. Ovens cannot get anywhere near hot enough to melt solder. Ovens top at like 500F, 60-40 solder melts around 600F and the new ROHS solder melts between 650-750F. The reason "baking" cards seems to work is because even though the solder doesn't melt, it expands from the heat and enters a semi-plasticized state where it becomes sticky. Broken connections will make new weak contacts that can fail again at any time.
Baking a card also coats the inside of your oven with the cooked off chemicals on the PCB, many of which can be carcinogenic and otherwise nasty. The heat also damages every component on the video card due to the fact that they were never designed to be exposed to extreme heat for prolonged periods of time.
I use a heatgun with a specially made jig to prevent PCB warping.

2006/2007 isn't "early 2000s"
Early 2000s would be like the Geforce 3/4 or the ATI Radeon 7x00/8x00/92xx.
The 8800 GTX is still a great part if you have a beefy enough CPU to support it.
