Best combo I've ever had. Sound quality literally gives you goosebumps.
Closed headphones often aren't as good as their open / semi-open counterparts.
That is if you are in a quiet environment, otherwise get closed goddamn nothing is more annoying than external noise.
Get Audio Technica ATH-AD700 instead or Alessarando MS1s.
Sony makes their headphones a bit overpriced.
I personally use my 1st gen 8GB iPod Touch with a bluetooth headset. My iTunes are all encoded from CD to AAC @ 224KB/s CBR, which sounds no different from the original disc. Not every lossy compression algorithm suffers like MP3. WMA and AAC (m4a extension) sound far superior than MP3. FLAC is just a waste of space.

At here I was like "ok"

But here I laughed few times.
It still is different from the original disk, hence lossy compression.
Audiophile bluetooth headset? Oh god spare me.
Here's the one I use.

I use the 4Gb version because it's cheaper and I don't think I'd know more than the sixty-two songs I have on mine. But if you have a big collection like my brother does, then get a 16Gb or anything else. It's just a music player, that's all I need.
This is relevant: when I was a little kid, I thought MP3 meant "Music Player 3". :downs:
I'd still reccomend the Zune HD, it has good battery life and amoung the best audio quality output out of all the standard (read: ones you can generally buy in any store) PMP's out there. Sure the only lossless format it uses is lossless WMA, but it's still great regardless. It's the perfect player if you are a music lover with diverse tastes, since you can get the Zune Pass with it, which for $15 a month you get 5+ million songs to "rent" for free as long as you subscribe to the zune pass, free automatic "channel" downloads if you want (aka think of them as pandora except downloading the songs), and at the end of every month you get to have 10 songs for keeps. It's an insanely good deal and the zune pass is directly integrated in the ZuneHD, meaning you can browse related artists, and download/stream entire discographies from artists over WiFi directly from the Zune HD.
Also the OLED is great for video, if that's your kind of thing. All and all if you love music it's hands down one of the best out there. If your entire collection is in FLAC format and you refuse to convert to a very high quality setting on lossy format like WMA/Mp3, then you might as well just go for the cowin's, as they have good audio quality and better lossless support for what I assume to be a significantly cheaper price than the zHD's 16GB and 32GB amounts.

Uh the S9 has OLED.

Sorry, but I work in a hazardous environment, so my work doesn't allow headphones unless they are wireless. And i can set my iPod down and walk anywhere in the 50 meter fab without the music cutting out at all. It's quite nice. I never realized how much I hated corded headphones until I got my bluetooth headset.
I also use the headphones for playing PS3 games, wireless music on my laptop, and talking on my phone hands-free. 4 uses from one device to me is a great value.
Where do you work? A steel factory?
Zune HD hands down.
I've had both an iPod Touch and a Zune HD, and the Zune HD is light years ahead of the iPod Touch.
1. The touch on the Zune is way better and much smoother
2. Sound quality is better on Zune. The iPod sounded so "dry" if that makes any sense.

Riveting tale chap.
Still doesn't change the fact that they probably sound crap compaired to wired headphones of the same value.
But wireless would be the shit if it was as good as wired headphones.

That thing's ugly. A creative x-fi would be a good bet, or wait for the creative Zii if you don't mind spending a bit more.
96 KHz sample rates, 24 bit audio.
How do you find music at that quality?
That thing's ugly.
I agree. I almost bought good audiophile headphones, but thank god I found skullcandy! They sound like shit, but man I am glad my poor self esteem is better when I wear good looking headphones.
http://redwineaudio.com/products/imod
That plus maybe one of those portable headphone amps haha
I'm a bit of an audiophile, good earphones/headphones and atleast 320kbps. The Zune HD has great sound quality, better than anything else I've used, including an itouch, ipod and the 4GB Sony Walkman AmericanInfantry linked.
I need a MP3 player with some really good sound quality. I was looking at the Zune HD. Not fairly interested in the iPod Touch due to 258758275285 people having it within my school but whatever is better I'm for it. Nothing over $300 but I would more so prefer under $250. Thanks.
I recommend the i-Organe.

The sad thing is, it's actually pretty good for the money it's (or was) worth. It's $200 now or something, it was like $100 before, which is worth the lagginess.
I find myself noticing audible quality difference below 192 but above 128 is still great and listenable.
studies have shown this, too
it's hilarious how people go on about how audiophiles can't use MP3s
I have fantastic headphones and can't tell either
I was looking at the Cowen S9 as a possible buy in December. Can anyone who owns it give me some advice on how good it is?
It is good.
Get a iRiver P7.
Plays FLAC.
Get Sennheiser earphones.
It is good.
Mind elaborating on that?
Mind elaborating on that?
It is very good.
