I am going to have a 1 day pass to a super computer, what should I do?
Try
Quad Opterons 6128
256GB ram ECC
Quad 10GB FC NICs
8 x 146 15k RAID 6 DAS
tri 20TB 10K SAN enviroment
There we go
That's fine, but swap it out for the E5 2687's and a mobo for it. I bet dual SB Xeons would beat that.

I'll take 64 cores for Virtualization

Where are you getting 64 from? Won't quad magnys be 32? Unless those have some form of hyperthreading.

Whoops meant the Opteron 6274, Interlagos

Holy shit...
I would love to encode on 64 threads.

Press enco- done.
Real time 4k encoding to AVC.
jizznuggets
I wonder how that'd compare to encoding on 4 Quadro 6000's...?
Quadros would be faster, if you can use all 4, but the problem with GPU encoding is that it's so limited generally. CPU's can be much more flexible in the codecs they use.
Which is why almost all GPGPU encoding software sucks. The Intel built in Encode is some of the best quality I've seen from non-CPU encoding.
Still that's 1792 CUDA cores.
Can't knock it.
Which is still fantastic for 3D rendering. But encoding can be as simple or advanced as you want. GPU's just can't do encoding too well with much control.
do what any normal person would do
steal parts from it

Solution:
More cores

Fun fact AMD reverse engineers nVidia products.

This is a joke right? The architecture's are so fundamentally different, it's not even remotely possible that AMD products are reverse engineered Nvidia ones.
Take out any cooling, run Prime95, duct tape and turn on hair dryer, and run GTAIV. Run.
Did anyone suggest leaving yourself a way in remotely?
Because you should do that.
Set up teamviewer, give FP the ID and pass.
put a RAT on it and control it from home.
[editline]8th December 2011[/editline]
or run furmark and prime95 at the same time
time how long it takes to heat the room
Run speccy, then add a back door for yourself for remote control afterward. Hide the evidence.

Remember the janitor thread in GD? The guy worked as a janitor at AMD, and he saw dismembered nvidia cards on desks. I never said they reverse engineered the GPUs, but the coolers and pcb designs?
When are you going to use it? Also you really should leave yourself a way in afterwards, and share it with everyone on FP.
How about you find out what its specifications are?
Compile all my VMFs

Well, ATI cards are terrible.. I can't blame them.

ATI cards and your posting have a lot in common.

Replace them with used pinball machine parts.
