I just started Litecoin mining with guiminer and i already earned 4$.
guiminer mines bitcoins though?
guiminer mines bitcoins though?
No it mines both. i have earned over 1 LTC with my HD7950.
guiminer mines bitcoins though?
He probably uses guiminer-scrypt, the litecoin version of guiminer. Also, out of curiosity, what hashrates do you get with that HD7950?
This is my work machine. This is idling. Well, shit. [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] The fucking video card fan is dead. What do I do
litecoins too mainstream, ppcoins are where it's AT
Uhm, do you still have warranty on it? I'd imagine there might be some custom cooler for your card since it's high-end.
The fucking video card fan is dead. What do I do
Oil it. The 40mm fan is terrible. Or glue a new fan on top of it. Also if it is clean, it will take 130c full load no shits given.
"This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU" Well this explains all the trouble I had trying to get a Linux distro on my Neoware CA2 last year. PF Sense didn't want to boot and gave me this error, which didn't really help me:
Step 1. Download litecoin client. Step 2. Download a miner. (CGMiner - idk how to use, Scryptminer - easy to use) Step 3. Put the miner into the litecoin folder. Step 4. Launch litecoin Step 5. Find a nice pool (give-me-ltc.com) Step 6. Register, create workers Step 7. Litecoin, Miner, Insert pool info. Like this Step 8. Press - START MINING - wait - you start mining.
Step 9. You now have a hot room [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] step 10. your pc will sound like a leafblower
step 10. your pc will sound like a leafblower
Like it always does?
I have 1¢ worth of litecoins, i'm rich.

You may not be able to, for desktop-oriented systems, but distros aimed at old hardware should work.
Oil it. The 40mm fan is terrible. Or glue a new fan on top of it. Also if it is clean, it will take 130c full load no shits given.
It's a work PC, so I basically sent an email to IT saying "yo fix it when you get a chance thanks." And shut it down obviously.
Step 9. You now have a hot room [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] step 10. your pc will sound like a leafblower
I left my PC mining bitcoins all weekend while I was out. I came back Sunday night, opened the door, and it was about 5 degrees hotter than in the hallway. (5deg Fahrenheit, that's like 2-3deg Celsius) I've decided to stop mining BTC once I get enough to cash out from the pool, at 0.1BTC. I may restart in the winter, but it's getting hot enough that I'll be turning on my AC (which means PC heat watts count double against cooling, instead of canceling out some heater watts). [editline]8th April 2013[/editline]
The PFSense image that I tried was an i386 build :/
It may still be an i686 build. Some use i386 as a term to mean "32-bit x86", not caring that their PAE-using build excludes actual 386s, 486s and Pentiums. Even the OpenBSD "i386" build doesn't run on an actual 386, but it will on anything higher (that has an FPU, unless you recompile with the hated GPL-licensed x87 emulator). What processor, exactly, is even in that thing?

What processor, exactly, is even in that thing?
I was confusing myself, that picture was from when I was trying to run ClearOS. I just Googled and it appears they don't make a non-i686 build of that. PFSense seemed to boot past that screen after I typed cd9660:/dev/ad0 and then ran cd9660:/dev/cd0 at the prompt. Unfortunately, I got some more errors trying to run the installer, though I'm guessing the old 2.5" IDE hard drive I had laying around is on its last legs. And PFSense definitely won't fit on the 256MB flash chip, so I'll have to look at some CF cards on eBay. As for the CPU, it's an 800MHz Via Ezra. I had Windows XP on it at one point and it barely played Youtube videos, though it should be more than enough for a router. EDIT: Well, I ran some smartctl tests on it after booting off the CD and the drive appears to have some problems. Dammit. [t]http://puu.sh/2wvVR[/t]

I have four workers atm CPU and GPU in both desktop and laptop. It seems to fluctuate a lot but generally I get ~100Khash/s
