This thread is very sidetracked, we could endlessly argue the toss about what socket bulldozer is going to have. Back to the point, if you want to stick with AM3 then get the 955 because games may never be optimised to play on 6 cores. Also as you intend to crossfire another 5770 in the near future you may as well get a 5850 now

Hmm, you make a good point, however I think I would rather get the 965, seems to be better than the 955.
Also, I cannot fit a 5850 in my budget, and I need a graphics card when I buy my pc. 5770 cf > 5850 by a large margin, so it works highly in my favor.
THIS is relevant to this argument.
Looks like I'll need to get a better CPU cooler if I want to do any real overclocking on the 965, bleh.
[editline]10:36PM[/editline]
Looking at this thread it looks like the 1055t is better yet again..
http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/756095-965-1055t-overclocking.html
Gaw;23126100']The next AMD architecture is AM3+ and it will work in AM3 motherboards. The same cannot be said for intel, they are going trigger happy over sockets, fucking socket this, socket that.
3fps worse. It does the same in particle testing. It's easier to OC with the phenom II also, since it's stock is 2.8 rather than 2.66.
Temps are lower since it doesn't have shit stock.
So I am paying £3.50 less for 2 more cores, and better performance when I OC, plus a future proof motherboard that will last for at least 2 years, while socket 1156 is ALREADY outdated.
No, it's almost the same as my original build, except I've switched to your RAM, switched case to one my friend got and says is very good, switched PSU so it has 100 less watts, switched type of 5770.
So, the only thing I have kept is the 1055t. Which you seem to hate.
Realistically, I want this build to last for a while after adding in another 5770.
1156 isn't outdated you fucking moron. Your precious little AM3 socket is going to reach its limit far before it comes anywhere close to 1156 performance. Intel is smart, they want money, and they realize they have to change sockets to futureproof so they can continue working towards the highest performing CPUs.
You, sir, are a complete and utter moron. Do not ever, ever post a thread in this section again asking for help as you aren't willing to take any one of these peoples' suggestions.
[editline]05:43PM[/editline]
Get the fucking 945 it's the same god damn thing as the 955 and 965 just lower clocked. They all have the same overclocking limit.

-snip-
I just agree with Odellus
:munch:
Though i have to agree. i5-750s will still be great CPUs for a long time. That's the same for every CPU. The Intel cards perform so well that they will last you for YEARS. I mean some people are still using P4s from long ago.
I said 1156 and not i5 750 for a reason.
[editline]05:47PM[/editline]
I've never had a thread make me this angry before, honestly.
That's what i meant though. Still, the i5 750 will still be a good cpu for a while
1156 isn't outdated you fucking moron.
I consider it outdated when there is a newer socket that is significantly better than it.
1156 > 1366 with LOTS planned.
AM3 with AM3+ planned that will be compatible with AM2+ and AM3
I don't want your intel fanboy shit spurred in this thread, get out.
Gaw odellus is correct.
He knows his shit.
Gaw odellus is correct.

I don't really care, don't want an i5. Not the right choice at all.

Yeah it's totally Intel fanboy shit because you know I'm right.
1156 > AM3 for the next four years, I'm calling it now.
Gaw;23135155']I don't really care, don't want an i5. Not the right choice at all.
I didn't say get i5, tard.

1156 is being made obsolete so therefore it is outdated, or at least will be very soon.
Performance wise it is better, yes.

I'm not try to agitate you Odellus, just under my certain circumstances, AM3 seems like the right way to go.

That's fine, and I said go with it. Just don't waste your money on higher clocked stock CPUs (955 and 965).
That's fine, and I said go with it. Just don't waste your money on higher clocked stock CPUs (955 and 965).
Alright I won't. Still not certain whether or not to get a 945 or a 1055t though. Honestly they both seem very similar, and it's the GPU that matters.
1156 is being made obsolete so therefore it is outdated, or at least will be very soon.

How is it being made obsolete? The new sockets wont be coming out for a while
Well yeah, but they won't be bringing out anything new on 1156.
And it's not like it matters. Performance versus the competing components is all that matters, and in this regard, Intel is simply faster in everything, and will be for some time, even on a dead-end socket like 1156 (i7 870).
This shit is driving me mad :<
So now I am torn between:
AMD Phenom II 1055t X6
AMD Phenom II 945 X4
Intel i5 750
intel i5 750

Gonna go for the i5 750, at last we get there.
Need a good mobo now, socket 1156, USB3, and with support for crossfire.
[editline]12:25AM[/editline]
What, a shitstorm with the CPU but no replies for the mobo? -_-
[editline]12:29AM[/editline]
Is this any good?

[editline]07:59PM[/editline]
for some reason, there are hardly any P55 motherboards with USB 3
[editline]07:59PM[/editline]
and the cheaper ones that have it are dooky and cost too much for your build
[editline]08:00PM[/editline]
so, buy a lesser MSI motherboard with two USB 3.0 for $125 or a better ASUS motherboard with two USB 3.0 for $160, or no USB 3.0 for $110
sigh, I guess I don't really need USB3 since by the time I want to upgrade my i5 (which I can't, would need a new mobo) I'll just get one with USB3 then.
So can you find me a good one, with crossfire support, on ebuyer please?
You should get the 955. It performs very well in gaming.
Look at the benchmark you posted, only a 4fps difference from the i5.

No, that's the 965, and come on, 85 fucking replies and people are still arguing over the CPU, I'm sticking with the i5 750.
Now please, can anybody recommend a good socket 1156 mobo, with crossfire support, no need for USB3.
The 965 is the 955 but with a .2GHz higher clock rate.

I know I know I know I know, god. You've awoken the CPU debaters again :'(
[editline]03:30AM[/editline]
Alright, rig so far:

Now, what RAM should I get..

or
